- Sometimes an opportunity arises that you just can’t pass up. The G-Shock GA 2100 1A1DR blackout is a rare and desirable beast which took the watch industry by storm - perhaps rather unexpectedly. This slimline, rugged, light and tough Casio watch is great for wearing with a suit or casual wear. It’s fair to say that it has proved to be one of my favourite and most work watches to date. I have work mine so much since I bought it 8 months ago that I was feeling a little concerned that in 10 years it may be in quite a state! Then I came across an opportunity for a second one. I explain my thought princess in the video.

I waited over a year to be able to buy the 1A1 at retail… and it was so worth the wait. I’ve loved it so much since i received it, that i bought the triple-red model as a second, instead of buying the metal or solar models.
The day indicator looks so much more class on the original dial/model.
Casio knocked this model out of the park.
I feel for these GA-2100 that there will be a time for them to return as very collectable pieces, but you'll never make such an amount that you could use the extra gained to buy a new motorcycle... there is a moment when they're released they become wanted and as shops run dry, they become worth more, much like toilet rolls in a lockdown... now I've been watching these and the trend is settling now, but a new trend is the swapping to a metal bezel which is where I'm at now. It's got that timeless look, its taken G-Shock since 1983 to return with a round version, I just hope they don't ruin it and start revamping it like a Gravitymaster LML :-P

Thanks for the comment my friend. Yes it's going to be fascinating to see how the desirability of G-Shocks develops over time and collectibility too. A bit like guitars or classic cars I feel it's about whether they can be 'replaced', so if Casio don't make any more and they are a cool watch they may well go up in value - but you just never know. My rule is buy what you genuinely like, and then if it goes up in value then great, if not you've got something you love and can use or give away as a special present. There is also a chance there may a certain period known as the 'classic' phase of G-Shock such as the digital Frogman, the earlier Gravitymaster etc. Let's see man, however it turns out it will be a fun journey. I've sold some G-Shocks, that later became much more collectable, and at the time I felt I had a stone, but that's in the early years, now it's mostly on gut instinct.
There is also the other side with these G-Shocks, how long do the modern resins last? Quite a journey hey, but at least it's not like a BOLEX service costing £800 plus LML :-P
I randomly found the triple black for retail on Amazon from Tilly’s on May first. They sold out in about 6 hours

Great watches. Love my triple black. Definitely wouldn’t pay over the odds for one from unscrupulous ebay sellers. Bought mine from G-Shock online. They were out of stock, so I left my email with them and asked to be notified when back in stock. Literally 9 days later i got the email they were in stock, now its on my wrist. Paid retail price and no worries about warranties and fakes.

I paid 200.00 exactly what I said I would pay when I first saw it. Just got a deal on the Gen 1 stainless steel bezel and bracelet. Looks so good with the steel bezel and original black strap...

I have the camo one. Love it. I have ordered a couple smartphone screen protector sticky's to protect the mineral crystal from scratches.
The camo one is very cool. I need to look into these screen protectors for the GA-2100. I assume you can't tell it has one on, even after a bit of use in water etc?
I bought tempered glass screen protector for it too.
I purchased one today from Casio UK £99.00 but found a coupon for 10% off so I payed £89.10 which I think is great.
Great result man. Definitely a good price and as soon as you can't get them any more I'd imagine they'll be up at crazy prices again at resale. Solid investment and also one of the most classic G-Shocks of all time. Cheers!
Nice Video, thanks.. I've been looking at this watch for a bit, but have not seen retail.. waited to long and it sold out fast.. I'm seeing pricing range $200 - $300+ I've seen the GBX-100 released in a new batch, So I think Casio does do that .. Hope they do for this as well.. Thanks again..

Bought it for 101 in dollar currency, and that was on sale. 😁 Been torn between gwb5600ar still chose ga2100 black out version

Indeed. Not my typical approach but for something special like this which I believe will be discontinued soon I'm OK with doing that.
