Frankie grew up in an Italian-American family whose 2 passions were food and music. He learned the trumpet from an early age, and it helped him begin a successful recording career where he produced several charting singles.
His star only rose higher once he began to appear on film and TV. 2 of his most memorable appearances were in musicals. The Beach Party series was a hit, and fans still remember his appearance in Grease as the Teen Angel.
A bit of Frankie’s teen idol mystique has worn off now that he’s 81 years old, but he still manages to draw crowds of fans wherever he goes. He still performs in clubs and tours to show his voice to the world. He’s also known for surprise appearances and cameos, such as when he sang Venus on American Idol or sang Beauty School Dropout as the Teen Angel on Dancing With the Stars’ Grease Night.
When Frankie’s not showing off his talents, he spends his time with his family. He and his wife Kathyrn have been married for over 50 years and have 8 children. They enjoy weekly dinners, and Frankie wrote a cookbook and created a company called Frankie Avalon Foods to bring the Italian food they enjoy to the world. He also promotes a health and wellness line called Frankie Avalon Products.
It doesn’t matter where you first saw his face or heard his voice; the appeal of this superstar simply refuses to wear off over the years. He’ll likely find an audience who wants updates on his life for as long as he lives.

How can you not like Frankie, Fabian and Bobby Rydel even though they are before my timel? I saw Back to the Beach the day it was released to the theaters. One of the best movies of the '80s.
I knew about his trumpet playing but didn't know he cut early records or made an appearance on the Jackie Gleason show. WOW!!!

Actor then singer. He is Awesome. He might have gotten tired of making the beach movies but we loved them. Classic movie channel has finally brought back some of (not Frankie's movies) but the young love movies I haven't seen in like forever. Like (Where the boys are), (Palm Springs Weekend), (A Summer Place), I wish they would put more of these types of movies back on to rewatch again.

Grease being one of my all time favs. I first saw Grease as a stage play in Melbourne in the 70's, was thrilled when the movie arrived, and then last August, saw it as a stage play in England. Unfortunately, haven't seen Frankie live in a stage play. That would be Amazing! Glad he's still going strong!
