I'm glad Scott doesn't get with Knives at the end, because lets be honest: Knives is way too fucking good for Scott. And you can't go back to a girl you sandbagged that hard the moment you laid eyes on a more alluring chick, that's a heel move if ever there was one.
While at the same time toning Scott down to be a bit less of a raging asshole like he was in the comics. I'm wondering if the personality changes was some kind of studio mandate to make Scott more sympathetic and relatable (Let's face it, if you relate to Scott in the comics, you might be a bad person). I think making Scott less of an asshole and Ramona more cold really messes with the character development present in the comics, while the movie only throws that stuff in in the last 15 minutes. I still enjoy the movie tho.
Especially when she flat out says that Roxy never counted as an ex....because it was a "phase". Plus you've got so many women emulating Ramona, who need to put down the damn ukulele and hair dye.
Now to make people depressed, a lot of the places featured in the movie are now condos. Because everything in Toronto is turning into over priced condos.
@Ethan k Yeah it sucks, the plans were just announced to demolish it for condos in the "cool" district while destroying everything that was cool there. We are fighting it but it seems like an uphill battle

Edgar Wright is a treasure, no one does visual comedy as good as him. Probably my favorite director of all time. I would love if he gets a second chance at a marvel movie, Dr Strange maybe?

I loved the movie, even though I'm not a big comic book or games fan. The dialogue was so sharp and funny. I think, much like deaths in Seven, the evil x gimmick starts to drag after the first few and they rush few a couple, but it was never not fun.
I ironically watched this at 15 and its easily in the top 3 of my favorite films of all time! đ Marked tf out when I saw the notification pop up! Thanks blokes!

Scott Pilgrim is sort of the parallel opposite of high fantasy - instead of the using the fantastic to show you the ordinary, it uses the ordinary to show you the fantastic. Teen drama feels this climactic when it's happening to you, right? Also, Scott absolutely the heel
I never really watched OSW's movie reviews before, the first Wrestling oriented channel that I watched was Wrestling Bios and he reviewed one of HHH's movies. Throughout the whole thing he never referred to HHH's character by his movie name and constantly used wrestling terms when describing things. Funniest part of the review hearing those terms being used like that so imagine how much joy I found in this review when the boys just constantly spew wrestling terminology. đ Also, absolutely loved this movie. I'm biased since I've always had a crush on Mary Elizabeth Winstead though. đ 2010 was a massive year for Scott Pilgrim, if I remember correctly the final comic came out shortly before the movie and a well regarded video game came out which the lads used music from. That definitely was the best time to be a fan, couldn't ask for anyone better than Edgar Wright to do this movie too.

Despite having a massive crush on Ramona in this film, having to beat seven evil exes is a MASSIVE red flag. I watched the movie back in the day on my evil-ex's laptop when she downloaded it. This instantly became my favorite movie with the rock, the references, and relatibility...kinda. Then I read all the graphic novels and loved those, too, while making those my most read even if I only had 1-4. Thank you libraries/internet. I also played the game before it was removed from the XBox Arcade. Long as it was, it was worth it. I even got the shirt Scott has in the beginning when he was playing the baseline to the Battle theme from Final Fantasy 1. I absolutely love this movie 100%. Watch it, this doesn't disappoint. You saw the review. Be the marks you know you are as I am a huge mark for this myself.
I believe you mean Final Fantasy II, which Scott calls it even though it's supposed to be from the battle theme of Final Fantasy IV (released in North America as FFII). Now if you'll excuse me, I have to use this useless factoid to try to impress a 17yr old at the arcade.
I would add Scott's sister, and Kim to the likeable characters list. Kim is the biggest mistake the movie makes as she has such a good story in the comics and really highlights how Scott is a total prick. It also explains her being angsty and quiet a lot more. Wallace is phenomenal and I love him dearly. I watch Scott Pilgrim yearly because it makes me happy every single time I do. It's far from perfect, Scott and Ramona are inherently annoying, but the soundtrack, editing, comedic timing, and casting are so good. Imagine announcing a movie now that had Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Alison Pill, Michael Cera, Anna Kendrick, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Bill Hader, Mae Whitman, Kieran Culkin, and Ellen Wong. Nuts.

I'm watching the review thinking as soon as the battle of the bands monsters scene comes up. We are going to get a big fat WCW YETI reference.............But alas no they think of Pokemon instead. Missed a trick their lads.
Hate to be "that guy" but I read the books after the film and they add so much more to the world that I kind of dislike the film now. There's not the weird disconnect that you guys mentioned about Scott being a massive heel but getting a pass because he's the main character - in the comics he's called out a lot more. Ramona is more human, not just a trophy, even the exes get a little more humanity. The film still looks sexy AF mind you.
I haven't watched this yet but I hope it is a positive review or else I will be sad! EDIT: Glad to know you guys liked it. I believe you guys did this back in 2018 if I am not mistaken and I am curious if you would do a review of Ready Player One considering it is pretty much a video game movie as well although this one is more enjoyable in my opinion.

Despite it not having anything to do with a video game really other than the strong connection with the original comics and their awesome references to games. To think that this movie was my introduction to Metric, and now Iâm a big mark for them. Even got two of their albums: Art of Doubt and Grow up & Blow Away, when I visited Toronto for the second time last year.

Love this movie; it came #1 for 2010 in our ongoing "Movies of the Decade" series (CHEAP PLUG - We're currently on 2012).
The Double Dragon cartoon to my knowledge didn't air in the UK, and when DVDs came out (with only eight episodes between them) it had a 12 rating!

I'm watching the review thinking as soon as the battle of the bands monsters scene comes up. We are going to get a big fat WCW YETI reference.............But alas no they think of Pokemon instead.

Hate to be "that guy" but I read the books after the film and they add so much more to the world that I kind of dislike the film now. There's not the weird disconnect that you guys mentioned about Scott being a massive heel but getting a pass because he's the main character - in the comics he's called out a lot more. Ramona is more human, not just a trophy, even the exes get a little more humanity. The film still looks sexy AF mind you.

Omg, this movie came out on my final year of high school and I've loved it ever since!
scott's blade in the final fight reminds me of the ebony blade from skyrim

EDIT: Glad to know you guys liked it. I believe you guys did this back in 2018 if I am not mistaken and I am curious if you would do a review of Ready Player One considering it is pretty much a video game movie as well although this one is more enjoyable in my opinion.

one of the best stylised movies of all time, and possible the best video game movie we will ever see? Despite it not having anything to do with a video game really other than the strong connection with the original comics and their awesome references to games.
Also Aubree Plaza and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the same movie? Oh Damn yeah!
The young Culkin lad also plays Euronymous from Mayhem in Lords Of Chaos...its The Room of music biopics.

To think that this movie was my introduction to Metric, and now Iâm a big mark for them. Even got two of their albums: Art of Doubt and Grow up & Blow Away, when I visited Toronto for the second time last year.
