Hailan definitely takes the mother/big sister role now, taking care of the people ruyi protected before she passed. 😭 Also f the emperor. He never understands his wifes before they finally died. Like what the f how many wifes and childrens need to died in order to open his eye.

    Ruyi was the perfect empress. She was elegant, knew when to speak, knew when to hold back her tongue to diffuse the situation, she was observant, had the emperor's best interests at heart, was warm and generous with consorts and willing to be in harmony with them as long as they didnt invite trouble. She was never jealous or vindictive.
    All she wanted in return was to be able to love Hongli and stay by his side. She never even wanted the empress title. In fact, her becoming Empress was just something she decided to put up with just so she could be with him. Other concubines saw it as a prize. She saw it as a sacrifice.

    Everytime I watch this drama, especially this scene, I’m impressed with Wallace Huo’s acting. He seems to be filled with terrible grief and regret with his treatment of his beloved woman. The neglect, the palace intrigue and politics “killed” her. All she wanted was the love of her beloved. He realised too late how much he did love her, and how she suffered in loving him, till in the end, she had none left for him and wanted nothing to do with him and his palace. That's when Ruyi was died she was not confered as Empress instead, she was buries as Imperial Noble Consort.

    • @sigira
      @sigira Před 2 lety +21

      While I don't know the reason in real life, in the story/drama, it's implied he did so because it was what she would have wanted--she never wanted to be empress and trapped in everything that came with that title. Her removing herself from the painting (done of him and her when she became empress) was removing what she could of herself from history/the records, certainly removing/separating herself from him. His identity was entirely tied to being the emperor--she did not fall in love with the emperor, she fell in love with a prince who happened to become the emperor. While we and others in the story think of the role of empress as a sort of honor, to Ruyi, that was never the case here. It was a role she only took on to be with the man she loved and who, by the time of her passing, had very successfully destroyed that love. It's like one of the concubines said at her memorial tablet--she went to be with her young man. Had the emperor buried her as an empress, she would never be Ruyi again in history but known as Empress __. One of the things she cherished and dreamed of was to be able to live happily and well as a "regular" person with the man she loved and who loved her back (I think it gets brought up several times but I remember most clearly when she was marrying off her maid Suo Xin). By not having her buried--and immortalized in history as--the empress, he gifts her a freedom she longed for but never received in life.
      In reality, however, who knows why he did it? Whatever the reason for her likely cutting her hair, in the end, he never seemed to forgive her. I think there are rumors/reports the closest thing to acknowledgement he displayed was just saying she must have hated him still after learning she had passed away. However, whether or not he felt he bore any responsibility in the end for driving her to that point, he still was very angry when people tried to speak on her behalf. Historically, he was known for being a excellent leader/emperor in his youth but not in his later years. His reign both saw the dynasty reach its peak and also saw it begin to decline.

    • @sigira
      @sigira Před 2 lety +3

      @@mimosasilva8289 It was not really allowed for anyone to cut their hair at pretty much any time, not just a member of the royal harem in front of the emperor. The belief was that all parts of a person came from their parents--hair, skin, etc, so to just cut your hair was seen as an act against filial piety, a huge nono and insult against propriety and essentially, a tenet of their society. For Manchurians, more specifically, the only acceptable time one could cut their hair was in an act of great mourning due to the death of either the emperor or empress dowager. And a lock of hair could/would be cut in marriage to intertwine with the spouse's hair as a symbol of spending the rest of your life/eternity together. So her cutting her hair was symbolically also her "divorcing" him, in a sense. But yes, her cutting her hair when the emperor and empress dowager was alive would also be seen as cursing either one or both of them. For other ethnic chinese groups, I'm not sure if the same applied but cutting one's hair was still seen as taboo though less against the country (condemning/cursing the emperor or empress dowager to die) and more against one's parents.

    純純的愛情很容易萌芽,維持更是不容易,如懿跟皇上雖有感情但是一直被其他妃干擾誰叫皇帝都是多妾制度
    都是重感情的人,皇帝知道如懿死後用生氣憤怒來掩飾愧疚跟後悔的感覺,因為又是礙於皇帝身分不能在臣面前哭
    人的感情就是這樣愛恨糾葛有愛也有恨,看你能不能克服恨的部分而已,可以克服的話就長長久久了
    然後皇帝想修復畫作就代表他還想時光回復到當初,就像我們的摯愛離開之後總想用照片來回憶摯愛,不過他腦子裡面也都還有那些美好的回憶也不虧了,如懿自自然然的離世也教會了皇帝這種地位最高人物一門功課,就是遇到真正喜歡的人一定要留住因為機會只有一次,即便是皇帝也是會受困於情感,最後皇帝還是很幼稚不給如懿用皇后制度的喪儀,孩子氣麻

Instead of believing her, and giving her all his heart as he did in the beginning, He disrespected her, betrayed her love, hit her, called her crazy, locked her up, never protected her. He didn't try to understand her. Made her eat things he knew she never liked, which no dought caused her harm. Forced her to watch a friend who she cared for serve her and in the end die. Broke her heart more times than one. Locked her up in the cold paliace then made her be empress when she didn't want to. Then slapped her and when she cut her hair to prove a point he locked her in the palace for years...
    Then when he finally let her out he expects everything to be okay and for her to still love him the same way.
    Is he for real???? After everything she had been through and most of it all on her own without him at her side, no wonder she didn't love him anymore. And im glad she died in peace. she deserves to finally be at peace after everything she went through.

However in the end he chose to be alone and only think of Ruyi Cris crossing a length of his hair across her hair indicating he wanted to be with her in the afterlife as a free person. He kept her tree alive and it was near him but it. Never bloomed until this lady act. Then he died hopefully to be in the afterlife with Ruyi. Everyone has their own idea about the ending and this is mine. The bloom of the plant to me suggest she forgave him. This would be like Ruyi because she could see in the end he wanted to be with her. What she always wanted. So in a way it was a happy ending even if it was in the after life. Just my view.
