a double-meaning as I said about her alluding to flowers bloom and fade. Yes, she most likely refers to the months and years ahead after her death which she senses to be imminent. An absolutely marvelous drama about one of the big mysteries of that Qing dynasty.

Yes, it was also her bidding a subtle farewell to the Emperor because she knew it was the last time they would ever see each other. The emperor did not get it obviously because he didn't know that she was dying. But serves him right. He didn't deserve her.
蘭因絮果 原先看的時候跟大家想法是一樣的 覺得如懿已經心死 多看幾次之後又有不同的想法....
如懿在渣隆認錯後表現得有點不知所措，發現自己還是愛渣龍的，愛到不願讓他陪著走完人生最後一段，也許是怕加深他的懊悔內疚吧，即使對她來說並不重要，她要的兩人情感從來不是是非對錯的釐清，而是只得一心人罷了，但皇上這個行為又喚醒了如懿已死的心。
如懿說的蘭因絮果：少時讀只覺得惋惜，經歷過才知道花開花落自有時（（其實再美好的愛情也逃不過生死離別，希望皇上能夠看淡，保重自己。
我自己看的解釋是如懿仍愛著皇上，也為他著想，一個廢后豈能再立，皇上不就會成為一個笑話或是昏君，其次是她剩下的日子不多了，與其讓皇上之後痛苦，不如維持這樣淡然的關係對彼此都好，因為她知道，眼前的是她的弘曆，不是大清的皇上就夠了。皇上離開後如懿對皇上做的那個禮，如果是一般的禮俗大可不必等皇上出去了才做，只有她自己知道那是最後的拜別，一切都結束了，所以在離世的那一刻，她想起與弘曆的過往才會是笑著甜著的，而不是滿滿的苦澀
如懿藥餵枯梅這點也很有感覺，如果真的心死，不需要這段，此舉也許是悼念過去的愛情，也能說，如果藥能醫病，那麼如懿可以不在乎自己的身體，只希望他們過去的感情能再回來，

It's difficult for an emperor not to be egocentric, I mean it's kind of part of his job. He is expected to, and probably told he should for as long as he is the emperor.
It's not like a deluded sense of self entitlement, everyone around him is enabling him. They won't tell him the hard truth or be frank with him probably 99.99% of the time, 99.99% of the people. They tip toe around him, and always trying to gain his favour, by indulging his every whim. He has to be constantly vigilant of who is scheming against him, who is just doing something to gain his favour or simply being sincere.
The empress finally understood this and stopped blaming or hating the emperor. She accepted it the way it is.

I do not think she accept him because during the scene where she cut her hair, she voice her feelings. I think at this point, she is truly tired, even too tired to even care. The pain run too deep. She no longer in love with him so he is a stranger to her. She is also being polite since he is still an emperor. This is how woman treat their ex-husband. It seems to me, all her live have been serving and caring for other people. This time, she want to care for her own happiness. She didn’t want to meet anyone and waiting to be free.

I’m so happy that Ruyi at least kept her dignity and broke off with him for herself and own peace of mind. She realises that it was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Her unwavering and unconditional love for her husband had come to an end. She looks so peaceful when passing away. I’m glad she didn’t have to live a long life of pain and regret.😭

這部戲我看了N次，驚覺她演技如此好，最近買了一套書準備好好練練
剛開始我也聽不習慣 聽習慣後宮其他女人聒噪的聲音 演年少時聽她的聲音很出戲 跟渣龍結婚後就覺得聲音很穩重
其實也不是願不願意接受乾隆的道歉跟冊寶，也不是不想見其他嬪妃，而是如懿深知自己時日不多，蘭因絮果，男女因緣初始美好，最終離散.....花開花落自有時，而如懿走過了蘭因絮果，如今她的生命也已凋零。
來自太后的重點：

这青樱和甄嬛传里的青樱，压根儿是两个性子😁 若不说是甄嬛传的下一部，这如懿传还是有很好看的地方，可若承载着甄嬛传，剧情到变得9不搭8了😂😂😂

這一幕好感動啊!其實當乾隆要離開翊坤宮時，如意是微微地笑，不知道有沒有人看到?感覺除了是偷偷的地做人生最後道別，好像他其實還很欣慰乾隆跑去找他低頭，找他一起去木蘭，不過沒有跟去大概也是因為如意知道自己壽命不久了吧 ，不想讓大家在如意死亡的當下太過傷心而避開其他人包括皇上。哀，花開花落自有時七個字讓我覺得好感傷。這段情緒好複雜，佩服演員。

如懿在佛祖青燈前想了那麼多，她也明白與現在的乾隆，整個烏拉那拉氏家族，緣起緣滅，該是劃下休止符的時候，皇后宮廷無止盡的鬥爭到她這代由她自行了斷，烏拉那拉氏後代自由了，如懿也解脫了，真的自由了，她的離世也喚回乾隆的本心。
這種角色就是周公子才扛的起來啊！

若是用太后（甄嬛）的角度來看如懿，我相信太后對這位烏拉那拉氏的女兒是充滿欽佩！不同於宜修的狠毒，如懿最難得的是，從一開始到最後，性情從未變改，哪怕對渣隆的情分已盡，如懿還是保有初心。
而渣隆，真的是比衛氏更噁心的角色，永遠不會認錯，還製造出傷天害理、無惡不作的皇貴妃。

Her line "花开花落自有时" is translated into "flowers bloom from sometimes" which is a beautiful turn of phrase in english, but more easily understood as "flowers bloom from time to time" in saying that flowers bloom occasionally, she is also implying that they dont bloom all the time. she is acknowledging the beauty of their love in the past, but also telling him how rare it was, and that it will not happen again
I think she is implying about the futility of trying to make someone start and stop loving. There's a time that flowers will bloom just like when love first starts. And there's a time that flowers will fall meaning when love fades. All these times cannot be forced because you can't force someone to fall in love and you can't force someone to fall out of love. It just happens.

I truly believe that the only time she was happy was when they went outside of the Forbidden City and pretended to be a commoner couple, no protocols, no concubines, no decrees...marriage is already hard enough as it is without throwing all of that into the mix
It's because she makes a good empress same as the one before her who passed before she got the title they genuinely cared for people and did not bother them even when they knew they didnt like them. If her husband had supported her and loved her there is a likelihood she would have been happy no one would be happy trapped in the palace unless they are a very powerful family that's always in favor and most women could not always hold favor so its bound to be unhappy
@@Introvertsan Are you talking about the first Empress? She was good? Are you sure about that? She was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Unlike Ruyi who was sincere towards the other concubines, the First Empress was spiteful and vindictive. It's just that the Emperor chose not to expose her evil deeds to preserve her reputation and that of her clan's.

The only person I can think that is the opposite of Ruyi, that did impacted for China also, is Wu Zetin (probably missing her name a bit.) now she was the one that did some minor good, beside dominating her role as the strong Empress. If your wondering on what I’m talking about that is one good thing, is educating for women also. Since Education was for men only, but she did that one good thing, which probably did change along the way.

但是皇帝的演技就非常普通，他一出聲音，他講台詞的語速和語調，都打亂我想細細觀察周迅演技的心情
是配音的人差。
霍建華的皇上還是演的很到位；他把不同時期的皇上演的層次分明；內心戲靠眼神與些微的面部表情傳達；不愧是實力派的演員
感覺如懿 到頭來 還是失望

就像皇上在船上與風流女子那集。如懿去找他，還被皇上賞一巴掌。如懿為皇上斷髮，而皇上說如懿妳瘋了。是嗎？皇上當風流女子面前這麼不給皇后面子，難道是如懿瘋了嗎？正妻怎麼忍受這個畫面，而且是為了皇上顏面著想。。。
況且，皇后忽然被奪冊寶，顏面盡失，如今忽然得回冊寶，說真的心也累了。誰還會想再收回，誰敢保證不會有第二次?在如懿心理那個皇帝，已經不是她愛的那個人了。

I feel at this point, Ruyi no longer cares if the Emperor said sorry or not. Her affection ended the moment she cut her hair, and she doesn’t look back nor did she regret anything. Her times up and she’s dying, and she has nothing else tying her down. She fell in love, fell out of love, and now she’s just at peace with herself. She’s prepared to leave this world with nothing but the fond memories of the emperor and the other concubines when they were younger.

我覺得在如懿傳裡，最瞭解如懿的其實是太后，海蘭是真對如懿好，為了鞏固如懿的地位，做了很多事，包括本來也要對七阿哥下手的，只是如懿知道阻攔了，然後為如懿殺凌雲徹也不是如懿要的，就像太后說的，權力，地位，如懿根本不屑，她在乎的是情意，如果如懿知道二阿哥也是海蘭害的，如懿該會有更多的自責，也更不會諒解海蘭

每次看這部都會有很深的感觸，如懿也許真的不適合當皇后，因為她太正直善良，而且又太直白了！
我觉得如懿已经不想活了，所以情爱早已看淡，所以在面对乾隆时，她甚至能够淡然温婉的微笑，这是抛却爱恨之后的平静，不是她不爱了只是太累了，该放下了。最后那个对着远走的乾隆的一礼，我就觉得这是两人之间的结局了，没有爱只有作为皇帝女人的责任。
皇上對如懿一切羞辱，當眾掌摑，怪她剋死兒子，把她救命恩人凌雲徹變太監，再無止境羞辱他們（尤其凌雲徹）直到凌雲徹死了，如果如懿不是有堅定意志要幫那些枉死的人找公道，如懿可能早自戕了，逃不出皇宮還要一直被變態氏羞辱，不死也被皇上逼瘋
嬪妃們都想見如懿但被蓉佩擋著、所有人都沒見著只有聽到如懿的咳嗽聲、李玉送回冊保但如懿拘收這就是如懿臨終之前報了所有仇，可以含笑九泉了而皇貴妃被皇上折磨九年薰姑湯還是害十二阿哥幻覺這下換自己喝了、皇上想來跟如懿認錯之前錯怪但爲時已晚如懿說出蘭因絮果也是最後了讓皇上自己反思花開花落致有時
这么久以后看，周迅演的太好了。这部戏光芒被遮盖了。原来是这么好的剧。
Ruyi's love was taken for granted by the Emperor..nothing wrong to love someone wholeheartly but if the love we shed was taken lightly, it cause deep pain..her love became bitter after the pain she faced and been tortured physical, mentally and emotionally..she gave up and there was no hope to regain the love anymore..when someone lost hope and gave up, the only thing in the person mind was to let go and care less of themselves..how i wish the emperor, at least say sorry to Ruyi and seek for forgiveness..maybe he can win her heart back..maybe 20%?😔

當初剛看如懿傳得時後,因受甄嬛傳影響,覺得好不習慣,甚至覺得演的比甄嬛還爛,但看到10幾集時,漸漸發覺,其實如懿傳比甄嬛傳還要虐心還要催淚,特別是凌雲撤被閹後一直到這集,真的是很虐心,如果真的要投票,我會改投如懿傳一票,如果不要受中共無理管制剪片,我相信這部更好看

周迅的眼神，像是一拳重擊打在觀眾身上。
如懿说，那些事我已经淡忘了，傻啊皇帝，她淡忘的不是别的事，而是和你一辈子的情分，以前所有的事，潜邸的玉如意，刚当上皇后时一起的画像...都淡忘了。
如懿这角色很难演，给演技不好的分分钟变白莲花。
從前看的時候，同樣深感“過去的都過去了”這句話十分糟糕，說這種話的人腦子到底裝的什麼啊😑😑😑
那麼多的傷害怎麼可以如此輕描淡寫，一筆勾銷了呢？
但這次看，卻有了不一樣的體會。
對讀者和觀眾而言，同情如懿，為她不值、為她難過、為她感到不捨，已經是看到大結局的普遍心情了，
但對皇帝來說不是。
看他出場後說的都是些什麼話：
“朕親自過來看你”、
“想不想出門玩呀～我帶妳”
“你還是幫我掌管六宮吧”、
“以前很多事讓你受委屈了”，
試想想看如現代一般的夫妻或愛人之間，會是這樣相處和對話的嗎？
在皇帝的態度和話語中，深埋著權力關係，屬於帝后君臣的，屬於男女夫妻尊卑從屬的，屬於決策者和被決策者的----所以，他更多的，應該被設想成現代社會人際關係中之“老闆”或“上司”。
一個願意發現你受委屈，重新調整權限予奪，還親自慰問的老闆，挺有情義了吧！
但是，這不是如懿要的。
雖然身為后妃，從名分或者性別上來說，生存在那樣的時代和背景中，都不得不屬於從屬和弱勢的那一方，但她在屬於兩顆心靈相依偎的感情中，捕捉到了一絲平等相待的真誠，簡單純粹，超乎一切……
“你放心”----因為你的心也在我心之中，即便你在各種關係交鋒中落了下乘，被人輕賤到了泥底，有我在的地方，也還有你的心的一份在。
所以不管前期有多少風波，兩人仍舊走到了一塊兒，直至在身份上也實現了最大可能的平等。
如懿和凌雲徹也便是這種相知的感情，從冷宮到皇后，與這個小小侍衛超越身份的默契。
而原本的皇后與其他妃子，面對皇帝，不是既愛又不敢不當個好員工，以致情愛權欲交雜；就是一腔愛意卻沒有辦法深入皇帝心裡（舒妃）。
只有如懿，以如許真情，陪他從阿哥到至尊，但走著走著，皇帝已經讓權力關係吞沒盡最後一絲心上的牽絆，他變成真正的老闆了。
“別放在心上了”----我的決策的確有疏漏牽連到你了，但決策這東西就是這樣嘛，作為決策者當然沒有百分百完美咯（所以皇帝本就不會有錯），以後會再彌補你，振作振作，繼續為這份事業效力，好好幹吧（拍肩
這可能也是為什麼，他在如懿死後一邊哭，一邊語出怨懟。如懿之死，使他感受今昔兩種狀態間，回憶與慣性的拉扯。
舊情如夢，令人不自覺的淒涼傷悲；權勢滔天卻已是習以為常。
承認錯誤何其困難。
從權，本就是將人視為角色、作為零件，隨時調整組裝，不合用就卸，合用了再揀，而在此道上一去不回頭的人，以為只要機器與整體結構還在運轉，便是不會有“錯”的，也往往誤會什麼都是可以調整彌補，永不失落。
“朕會等著你”，已經是現下他所會說的，最有情的話了。
但人心與生命都不是機器，源頭還在，可以屢敗屢戰，百折不撓，如梅花歷寒而彌芳；源頭枯萎，縱使四體俱全，也是槁木死灰。
如懿很愛皇帝，因為他高高在上後，還是沒有忘記身為一介妃子的自己，沒有忘記兩人彼此扶持慰藉的情分，用這份權柄，保全了她，帶她登頂。
但皇位的權勢終究反過來主導了這個“曾經的少年郎”，所謂願為民間夫妻之語，不過是象徵，求還保有一分單單屬於人情的相許相守。
至於如懿是不是錯看了眼前人，沒有及早發現他不值？我覺得不重要。行走這一趟人世間，有一個人、一道聲音、一種力量，曾深深撼動了她，她便為之盡心共鳴，杜鵑啼血，不負不虧。
綠梅是愛嗎？是曾經的情嗎？我覺得只是最根本的生命力，能讓人存在的，能使情誼流轉於不同個體間的，一種本源力量。
在皇帝駕崩前，綠梅抽芽，是因為死亡的迫近，使他重新回歸了生命本身，生死大限，與凡夫等。死亡是這個後半生好大喜功、剛愎自用的帝王，最“自然”的一項行程了。
那最後一綹白髮，他是不是迴光返照般，想起了真心依偎的動人處？
只是黑白分明，終究錯過了彼此。
我哭到不能自己，糾結成一團，心痛如攪，兩人再次相見相對無話，最初的感覺已經沒有，隨著時間以及各種種種摩擦，慢慢消磨殆盡，最初真實熱切的情感，已成遺跡。罷了！如懿已不計較，放下了執著，這份哀傷，永遠不能隨時間淡化，隨時隱隱作痛，人跟人之間或許就是如此吧，曾經的滄海桑田，現在的相對無言，皇上拼命的想挽回什麼，但是已無計於是，沒有人是不會改變的，也沒人是永遠陪著你的，大晚上的真的悲從中來啊啊啊😭😭😭😭

She said something profound at Ruyi's funeral toward the end, "At this moment, Her Majesty is now with the young man she fell in love with," implying that the emperor had changed and was no longer that young man Ruyi fell in love with. That young man, at the end, existed only in Ruyi's memory, a realm Ruyi's passed on to when she departed from this world.

Even after finding out the truth, he still couldn’t say to her I’m so sorry, I’ve treated you so very badly, I’ve miss understood you, please forgive me. This drama really broke me to see Ruyis amazing devoted love for the Emperor and to witness the way he repeatedly abused her, I hated him, he was selfish, self centred and arrogant and she deserved so much better then him. She was a Queen in every sense of the word.
They both lost so many people. Imagine a serial killer killing several of your children and friends and family. That is what happened.

Her last sentence to him i think meant that there's a season for everything, life has a start and end. And she wished him a safe journey in his life. Maybe it was her way of saying goodbye to him as she knew she was going to pass on soon.

As a non-Chinese/Asian person, it’s very interesting when I watch over this series and I get a more clear understanding of the characters actions and behavior . When I first watched this series I never truly understood how much Ruyi lost love for the emperor. I noticed that It is customary that whatever you do when the Emperor arrives/approach, you drop whatever it is you’re doing and quickly bow/curtsy, but here Ruyi genuinely does not care and decides to take her time. Although a small action (perfectly acted by Zhou Xun) it sends a big message. And the bigger statement is her final curtsy, she didn’t even bother to do it to his face to acknowledge him leaving, and I believe it’s this small messages that really shouts “I don’t give a f* about you anymore.”It is typical that in stories like this we expect people to forgive each other and live happily ever after, but with this drama I just love the ending. Just as easy as it was to fall inlove, it is just as easy to fall out of love. She didn’t love him anymore and that’s the best ending, because I don’t know what person would go back to the emperor after how he treated her. As much as we hate to see our main characters suffering, Ruyi out of all of them had the best ending ; she lived honestly, loved earnestly, was true to herself and her beliefs and didn’t lose herself in the game of power and favor.An excellent series indeed.
Not only that but the way she addressed herself when talking to the Emperor also shows that she no longer considers herself to be the empress (or the emperor's woman) anymore. Instead of using the words "臣妾" (Chen qie meaning "your subject"), she uses the word "我" (wo meaning "I/me").
There's other little details to her behaviour such after getting told by the court artist Giuseppe Castiglione that the emperor wants to be painted together with Han Xiangjian/Noble Lady Rong, Ruyi is shown to shed tears while walking in the rain back to her palace. During which there was a scene that shows when she was about the cross a gateway, she pauses. According to court etiquette, men should always cross doorways with their left foot and women always with their right foot first. However, the shot zooms in on Ruyi crossing the gateway using her left foot first. Showing that she was angry and disappointed at the Emperor for breaking the rules for this new woman. This is considered rule breaking because due to court etiquette, only the empress can be painted with the emperor. Ruyi realizes that the rules doesn't matter just as long as the Emperor says so.
I don't think Ruyi stopped loving the emperor or at least a version of the emperor. During her last scene, she is shown gazing longingly at the withered green blossom bonsai tribute given to her by the emperor back when they were in deep love. Thinking about all the sweet memories they had.

I haven't watch the whole series, but almost watch all of the cuts exist in youtube, and yes I especially captivated by their character development, especially the empress. From what I see both are actually still longing for each other but the fact that the empress still know which things are okay to be accepted, stand on her feet, and value herself, made her acting like "the man I loved the most is the man I also hate the most, but I will still be there for him till the end of my life". the way she still smile when the emperor came after all the time. The truest act of love
Even in the last days, she still think about emperor and the nation by revealing the biggest plotting murder at that time. She really selfless, a true empress and a wife. Even if I'm sad that she died in the end, but I'm also happy that she finally found her peace.
Was her duty as empress. But this was all made up.
Who want to live in a place like that,with deception,lies and woman been used for their countries to gain money for their places, used for procreation not possibility to have a real family that is sad,a lot of them ending death .

Also if a father have an important job in goverment, their daughter will be a step for the father to reach higher position. If the daughter, after marriage, commit mistakes, her whole family (down to grandkids and in laws) can be slaughtered. It's sad, but it's a fact. The women also held responsible for her clan. They were served to the emperor as harem women to represent their clan. Again, if these woman commit mistake, their whole clan also can be slaughtered. It's sad, but that's the fact. No wonder there's so many conspirations in the harem.
The only way out for to be free, was death. Also the loyalty and love of Rongpai was a unbreakable bond.
