Each time I m watching the historical cdrama, I m always amazed by the acting the scenario, the costume and the profundity of the storyline yet I m taken aback by their non interesting modern drama and all its production. As if there is two parallel world in China. Even the actors surpass themselves in the historical drama
It makes sense though if you think about it. The intention is to make it impossible ((*ahem* totally difficult without cutting the thing open)) to swap evidence or steal the evidence. It's one of the few things that Qianlong is ACTUALLY good at- Doing everything in his power to preserve evidence.

They're interrogating Suoxin to find info about how Ruyi got betrothed with the bracelet from her supposed lover. That's why Ruyi got confined - she was set up to look like she is having an affair bc she was "gifted" the bracelet similar to the one they're trying to place in the emperor's place. But the reality is both bracelets belong to Jia and she's trying to frame Ruyi to get rid of her so she (Jia) can gain favor and climb up the ranks.
I'm confused as to what about the phrase on the box and the cake made Hailan think to open the box and break open the cake. Was the grammar on the phrasing odd, or written incorrectly?
I was searching this video like crazy in order to know what those yellow cubes are. Now i know they are white jade cream cake. Few months back i had searched this recipe and liked but unfortunately now video of that is deleted. I hope i get it again.

modern cdramas are the best, rather that cringe kdramas, sorr non-existent kdramas when historical or modern is USA, not korea.
lol I prefer historical drama too.But there are some good modern dramas out there as well.Perhaps you just haven't found them xx
