The mother told me she couldn't even tell her daughter that she drove to my accident. She had to stay quiet about everything.
It depends if patient information was given like name, DOB, and other things that could easily identify the patient. Easiest way to prevent any violation is not to take pictures/video about it.

Not saying there isn’t educational stuff on tiktok but … it’s not rly the main goal of the platform. The platform is mainly for mindless entertainment and mostly just fills up time that could be spent bettering oneself or even spent watching an actual tv show, anything that focuses ur attention for longer than 39 seconds
It’s not unusual to film medical procedures like this for education purposes, and it’s usually fine so long as the patient gives informed consent (usually written) and follow HIPAA standards of practice when doing so. It’s why you can watch shows like Dr. Pimple Popper on TV. However, from everything I’ve read, it sounds like she wasn’t exactly following HIPAA standards when doing these live streams. It’s hard to say exactly how she violated it because I’ve never seen any of her streams and I can’t find any news article that goes into depth about it.
I just want to clarify when she says "bowel perforation complications" that means the instrument punctured the woman's intestines. Its more likely to happen when you have a colonoscopy not liposuction or a butt lift. This happening will have complications for the patient in the future. Most likely a follow up surgery to fix the perforated bowels.
Umm if they perforate intestine, I'm pretty sure that's not a "future" thing. It's an emergency that needs to be fixed or the patient can bleed to death
@@BoogieDownProduction The real threat is actually peritonitis, not bleeding. There'd literally be shit leaking into the abdomen, leading to infection and inflammation of the peritoneum (which you can imagine like a cling film that covers your organs and abdominal wall).
I've had several surgeries and for one of them, the main surgeon asked if I could be recorded for training purposes, . I would never give consent outside of this!
Holy shit, intestinal perforations?! That poor patient. Are the laws by state in terms of recording surgeries? I wouldn’t think it would be okay at ALL to be streaming surgery live because of sensitive info or parts of body needing to be censored as well as ethical concerns… was she streaming these surgeries with patient consent?
I believe she means medical laws. Those vary state to state. So when you hold your license in the state you live you can't just go elsewhere to practice. You would have to get your license through them as well. Theres a blanket national guidline for medical but then each state makes their own things as well
i’ve seen people say she did get consent from the patients to livestream their surgery but im not 100% on that. i’m not sure what the laws exactly are in her state for live-streaming surgeries but the fact that unusual complications occurred while she was doing so is the main issue. other big doctors like dr. miami have live-streamed surgeries before apparently (with signed consent of the patient) but he’s in FL so laws may vary & unusual complications didn’t occur. i’m not sure how consent works in these situations though bc they’re knocked out & in a compromising situation but i guess it’s legal in at least some states
@@Kayla-rd5jd I would be concerned that consent is not even possible under the circumstances. The power imbalance between a doctor and a patient is so great that a patient might feel they cannot refuse. I would be worried that the patient would feel coerced. In my jurisdiction, there cannot be any photos or video taken under any circumstances; consent is not even on the table.
now the video works against her. I am actually pro-cameras in the OR as proposed by another doctor recently. It's so important to have the proof. Imagine if they had none for this poor woman😭😭
Serves her damn well right! Do your job right, follow the rules of your employers, and adhere to the employer's code of conduct. Or suffer the consequences of your actions. I hope she's sued for millions.
Seems asthough she was more concerned with clicks than the welfare of her patients. I believe if you’re streaming patient’s surgeries then it should be for educational purposes only and then that’s only if you can actually handle that responsibility. Everyone cannot work with distractions. A teaching doctor I thinking can do this with patient’s written permission. Glad you told us about this.
And it’s nuts to livestream a surgery. Why not just record it? Takes a lot of additional stress away vs knowing you’re just doing complicated surgeries live with thousands watching if potentially something goes not as planned
Thats what I appreciate about you. Your page comes second to your job. And you make that very clear. You are in it to educate and you do that very safely. Youre not in it to be popular. Thanks for all you do!
This is the problem with cosmetic plastic surgery as a field. It’s heavily marketed and complications are so downplayed. I am a general surgeon and can’t imagine just advertising for unnecessary cholecystectomies for people who don’t need it. Surgeons have the responsibility to help their patients reach an informed decision regarding their health even if it meant lost profit for the surgeon. So many patients we treat conservatively even though doing the operation is much easier.
Wow I hope the patients knew they were being live streamed and were compensated. The ones with complications, I can't imagine the emotional toll that adds knowing it was rare not normal complications. I am glad she lost her license!
BS because I do LMAO (who's educated? The doc, me, one who posted comment?) What's worse is when adults don't know which their, there, there to use!! 🤣 Now worryies thought 🤣🤣🤣😁😂
Did she even get consent from the patients to live stream the surgery?? How can you perforate the intestines during lipo?? There's so much wrong here. I'm glad she's lost her medical license.
One patient of those 3 was on an interview, and the doctor has consent of theirs for streaming, but since she(dr) is toó focused for filming and streaming, she botched her(patient) boob job and left not only her big scars but she needed to go an another dr for re-surgery
Also the board alerted and warned her about her actions when using social media as early as 2018, citing concerns over patient privacy and possible ethics violations so it’s not like she just got it suspended in November 2022.
THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY SPEAKING ON THIS!!! way too many people are trying to downplay the situation. this woman was neglectful and harmful to patients.
I was a medical analyst for an attorneys office. We handled a lot of malpractice suits. It's amazing what can go wrong. Do your due diligence, people. You can find out any problems with your doctor via your states medical association. Research your procedure. Stop putting your life in other people's hands!
My mom’s plastic surgeon live streamed her mommy make over as well 😭 she had a stroke in 2016 but it couldn’t be proved it was him. She died last Sept. I feel like her health declined in general after the plastic surgery.
Thank you for the facts about this. Obviously, being a social media star was more important to her than focusing on the surgeries she was doing. She is a disgrace to the medical profession and deserved to lose her license.
No, a quack is someone who claims to be an expert in something they’re not or promises cures for things they can’t cure (such as essential oil peddlers). This doctor was just straight up unprofessional and prioritized her social media over her patients to the point where it interfered with the quality of her work. That’s why her patients suffered, not because she wasn’t a real doctor or didn’t know how to perform surgery.
@@Andy-xx3tt NO, WHAT MAKES HER A QUACK IS THAT HER PATIENTS WANTED COSMETIC SURGERY TO ENHANCE THEIR BEAUTY AND SHE BUTCHERED THEM BECAUSE OF HER INCOMPETENCE AND HER EGO
That's why healthcare professionals need to watch what they say on social media and watch what they do. Because even if she was a great doctor (which she obviously isn't), patients can come back and try and sue for malpractice if they are unhappy in the slightest. It's just not a good idea to put anything out there.
Yep it’s been happening for years now. I had lady get fired for live-streaming during our private training session(it’s usually 2 weeks long). She lasted half a day. Then I had a young girl fresh out of high school go through a months worth of training to only get fired on the first week working because she was using her phone while taking peoples private information(credit cards)
Ugh. This irks me. And I really appreciate you breaking it down and explaining it. I’ve dealt with a lot of bad doctors. There’s no other way to put it. Now with this doctor in question here, I don’t know if it was negligence or intentional malpractice. At the very least I’m assuming that people knew going into the operating room that they could/would be part of a live stream. But that to me in itself is malpractice. If you’re shouting out followers and crap like users who left you a super thanks, or if your livestream set up is constantly going off with noise, that is going to cause a problem. In my opinion, the only time a hand held/mounted camera should be present in an operating room is if someone has voluntarily agreed to be part of a study, or has volunteered to have their surgery recorded for medical purposes to teach others. Not to be livestreamed for the pleasure of randos on the internet. I did that with my full hysterectomy that I had performed in 2020 due to endometriosis and adenomyosis (that I’d suffered from for ten years, and had also undergone multiple other surgeries for removal and excision of the affected tissue). But because the field is still so small, especially among knowledgable, GOOD specialists, I was happy to be part of the study (my personal details were kept private, only my medical info was shared). Additionally, it was my choice to be filmed and participate in the study; there was no pressure or expectation from the doctor. To me, that’s the only time there should be a camera in the operating room, and it should either have a designated tech or should be mounted and then left as is. It shouldn’t be something that interferes with the doctors concentration during a surgery. Sorry that was much more of a rant than I meant to write.
Yes!! Thanks. Im tired of this narrative of her losing her license due to tiktok, it was malpractice! She was injuring people in procedures, she was airing her patients information to the public and she was neglecting her job by not properly disclosing information to her patients (she dismissed her patients concerns after complicarions)

No, you’ve got it WAY twisted. You’re witnessing a sociopath who is also high enough in narcissistic traits to want to LIVESTREAM them HARMING their patient while getting complimented for it at the same time 😱😱😱
@@tessarae9127 Wow. I wasn't even thinking of this that much. I guess you could be right- unless the doc took fat from the patient's abdomen for the bbl. But either way, no more practicing medicine for her, so she can't hurt people anymore.
This only happened because it looks bad and a bunch of medical professionals higher up… threw the book at her because they wanted it to stop for their own reasons. Guarantee there are tons of doctors that did way worse that either get swept under the rug or ignored. It’s only a big deal because it makes a “good story” for social media… and for you to shove your camera in your face and give your basic a** opinion about lol
Thank you for explaining this! I know that I wouldn't want my doctor distracted by the need for social media clout - or anything else! - if I were undergoing surgery. The fact that she allowed this to happen stuns me, and she got what was coming to her.
The scary thing is, she only lost her license in Ohio. She could get licensed in another state and practice there.
That's not really how it works
@@purpleunicorn87 oh I thought it was. Is there still a review board she would have to go through that would see she lost her license?
@@mousehouse8119yes absolutely.
@@mousehouse8119 yes, if she tries to get a job at another hospital or private center for plastic surgeries. They would review her whole paperwork and see she lost her license due to neglectful malpractices. (of course that is if these places are Ethical in the first place)

I would think livestreaming surgery would be a massive HIPPA violation and tictok violation. 4 weeks ago I was in an accident and the ambulance driver is the mother of a 6 yr old i teach Sunday School too. The mother told me she couldn't even tell her daughter that she drove to my accident. She had to stay quiet about everything.
I suppose if the patient consents, in writing, it might be permissible.
It depends if patient information was given like name, DOB, and other things that could easily identify the patient. Easiest way to prevent any violation is not to take pictures/video about it.
I was a transcriptionist in Pathology for years. Let's just say that I knew a lot about a lot of people I knew. I signed HIPPA forms and upheld confidentiality. 🤐
@@sunitamosesesqwell I am not sure, you could argue undue influence due to the fact she was tik tok famous
That was my first thought
Thank you for this clean unadulterated explanation that focused on legal standards of medical practice. This physician was NOT confused as to why she had to surrender her license.😮
Thanks for clearing this up and being rational and responsible.
My mother has been the victim of multiple doctors and their neglect and they werent distracted during the procedures. As a doctor, lives are in your hands take that seriously.
I worked for a Plastic Surgeon who had a 99% infection rate. Why? He refused to scrub thoroughly, would go home in his surgery scrubs for lunch and then straight back into the OR. One pts nipples became necrotic, turned black and horrid colors and fell tf OFF. he was AWFUL. And no one stopped him.
Wtf hell. How did nobody report that?
@@Last2LP Simple. He was a full Bull. He was in Colorado about a month when i got a call from a SSG who was looking to make points for Promotion by "Setting up the 1st Plastic Surgery clinic here at this Colorado hospital and WHY on earth would you let go of such a talented Surgeon?!" @@AureiliaI think that was part of the problem that she wasn’t mentioning the live streaming at all
I mean personally I would be ok with it if it was for educational purposes. But absolutely not for tictok
@@dannybryant-rh6sw you do realize there's a ton of educational content on tiktok, right?
@@purpleunicorn87bruh. Let’s not pretend TiKTOK is the platform most people think of and go to to learn. It’s short form content. You can’t learn much with maximum of 1 minute videos. Kids have no attention span because of this shit … to actually learn and retain what you learn, going on CZcams or skillshare or the library is way better, as well as many free courses offered by universities including Harvard and MIT..
Thank you for talking about this from a doctors perspective. It clears up alot of rumours and really shows what an awful doctor she was.
They did the right thing to protect future patients.
I can’t believe she live-streamed, also hipaa implications as well. I sincerely hope the pts at least authorized video and she told them ahead of time
Unless it is for teaching and the patient agreed ahead of time.
She said MULTIPLE not bowel
@@manxeater7multiple intestinal perforations she said, listen to it again (from the liposuction)
@@BoogieDownProductionshe can also get septisemia and die, yes it is an urgent surgery
I'm glad she rightfully lost her license. I hope the patients are recovering from her negligence.
Theres a blanket national guidline for medical but then each state makes their own things as well
I wonder if that would even be consent given the power imbalance between a patient and a doctor. Maybe the patient would be afraid to say no.
i’ve seen people say she did get consent from the patients to livestream their surgery but im not 100% on that. i’m not sure what the laws exactly are in her state for live-streaming surgeries but the fact that unusual complications occurred while she was doing so is the main issue. other big doctors like dr. miami have live-streamed surgeries before apparently (with signed consent of the patient) but he’s in FL so laws may vary & unusual complications didn’t occur. i’m not sure how consent works in these situations though bc they’re knocked out & in a compromising situation but i guess it’s legal in at least some states
Medical malpractice. How did she not know that was too deep?
@@Kayla-rd5jd I would be concerned that consent is not even possible under the circumstances. The power imbalance between a doctor and a patient is so great that a patient might feel they cannot refuse. I would be worried that the patient would feel coerced. In my jurisdiction, there cannot be any photos or video taken under any circumstances; consent is not even on the table.
Thank you, for explaining all of this. She suffered the consequences... and now her patients are suffering.
The bigger issue is invasion of privacy in those situations.
Not even close. The injuries are by far the bigger issue
now the video works against her. I am actually pro-cameras in the OR as proposed by another doctor recently. It's so important to have the proof. Imagine if they had none for this poor woman😭😭

I miss the days when doctors just wanted to be doctors and not social media stars. That’s why all my doctors are of a certain age.
Older people are immune to social media
Most of them do just want to be doctors, and I hate that people like her are making doctors look bad overall because they lose people's trust
Holy shit. Losing her license is the least of her issues.
Wow….thank you for breaking this situation down.
Thank you!!!! People need to understand that these are real massive violations of privacy and bad conduct overall
Yes please keep doing what you’re doing! You’re a good dr. For this!
Hard to perform surgery and dance around 💃🏼
And it’s nuts to livestream a surgery. Why not just record it? Takes a lot of additional stress away vs knowing you’re just doing complicated surgeries live with thousands watching if potentially something goes not as planned
I cannot conceive of an appropriate situation in which live streaming would be appropriate. I am glad she was turned in and lost her license.
*NO* doctor should be live streaming, teaching doctor or not.
Exactly! She could have just recorded it with the patient’s consent, then edited it with a voiceover!
Thats what I appreciate about you. Your page comes second to your job. And you make that very clear.
You are in it to educate and you do that very safely.
Youre not in it to be popular.
Thanks for all you do!
losing her license wasn't enough, she injured people she needs to be prosecuted
This is the problem with cosmetic plastic surgery as a field. It’s heavily marketed and complications are so downplayed. I am a general surgeon and can’t imagine just advertising for unnecessary cholecystectomies for people who don’t need it. Surgeons have the responsibility to help their patients reach an informed decision regarding their health even if it meant lost profit for the surgeon. So many patients we treat conservatively even though doing the operation is much easier.
Social media has broken people.
Wow I hope the patients knew they were being live streamed and were compensated. The ones with complications, I can't imagine the emotional toll that adds knowing it was rare not normal complications.
I am glad she lost her license!

SO BASICALLY SHE'S A QUACK
Scary and sick for the dr to not honor her oath!! Happy she is no longer a dr..

Ladies just go to the gym and adjust your diet, it takes longer but is better for your health good luck❤
Going to the gym and changing your diet can’t remove sagging skin and deflated boobs from breast feeding, and many other issues, unfortunately.
Mind your own business
Who knew that if you weren't fully devoted to your patient and thought more about your online presence than your work it would suffer as a result 😱
Thank you for the explanation!
Yes!! Thanks. Im tired of this narrative of her losing her license due to tiktok, it was malpractice!
