      seriously, do stick with Dana. after i’ve taken so many lessons through out the years. Golftec, online, driving range instructors, academy instructors, and with Dana. Just stick with Dana. Other instructors can get you to hit the ball better, but they won’t impart with you the knowledge of the swing and biomechanics the way Dana does. and that will stick with you. Also Dana’s the only instructor who will have me hit the best ball striking of my life on the spot on the lesson every time.

      @@vgolf10 - If you're a single digit handicap & trying to get to that next level then I can understand this type of lesson. He's a 20 plus handicap with a beautiful swing but no consistency. How about making a some small changes to that instead of trying to get the perfect hand, wrist, arm, shoulder, etc. position. He can't make a swing without a hundred thoughts. My opinion is not worth much but he wants comments from his followers.

    Priceless instruction! I also appreciate how you’re not afraid to ask whatever you need to know. “What’s a block?” “What causes a divot?” Dana clearly likes the lesson tee and your attitude as well as your skill. More power to you! It helps that a lot of these tendencies are mine and we no doubt share them with thousands of players. Golf is stupid and great.

    I was at the range the other day and had been struggling with misses high right and short, like 30 yards short... Felt like I couldn't close the face and was swinging way to the left; much more than I usually do. In retrospect I was just doing a horizontal turn with basically no side bend.
    Eventually worked into feeling exactly what was talked about here where I was getting that side bend and getting more vertical through impact and follow through. Immediately started hitting draws and straight shots with the distance I was used to. Nice to watch this and make sense of that feeling and what's supposed to be happening.

    Hi Dana. I am not trying to be smart, but when you said the golf club bottoms out on the shoulder, is that specific to what you want Jerome to do, and because of his mechanics? My thoughts through reading and videos, are the sternum is where the club bottoms out, unless it's a driver. Again, I hope I don't come accross as smart, this is always what is difficult about teaching/learning trying to understand what is being said. Thanks in anticipation.

    Dude - It takes real talent to score so badly with all the best of coaches over the last 8mths, built like a god and have youth, a sportsman A-type personality and flexiblity! When guys I know try what you are trying I encourage them to go out again but this time with a putter, SW, 8i and 5i. They almost always score better. Sometimes that you have to see what you are doing by simplifying your options. e.g. Putter from up to 10yds from the green would have got almost every one of your poor chips closer. Golf is about trust and trust is about good coaches but also about time and digging out of the dirt - too many cooks and not enough prep.

    • @swish1onu
      @swish1onu Před 5 měsíci

      @timmyotoole6063 ... hahaha.. i guess it's a bit weird... but if you've watched this lesson, it's just a swing thought to help with timing.. hip rotation at its most basic is the flexing and bending of the knees.. during rotation when you straighten or "snap" the left leg.. it helps ROTATE your hips open... when you snap that left leg straight during the down swing it INCREASES the speed of the club head "down" into the ball (increases angular momentum). Your arms and hands play a less "active" role in the speed of the club head.. the majority of club head speed is the natural whipping of the club resulting from us naturally "pulling" in the opposite directing the club wants to go.. anyway.. for me.. understanding the physics of the motion helped me understand why my legs were so important in the downswing.. snap, crack, pop... (the cereal) just so happens to be my swing thought so i dont think about my hands... at those speeds.. your hands become passive... you shouldnt have a death grip of them.. this coach is the best so far.. hands down better than all the others

    What hits home for me is the wrist obsession, where I got stuck for a while. Setting the right wrists can be a valuable drill, and it can improve contact, but it's sold as a one-trick solution, youtube clickbait. Better to concentrate on big muscles, big width, and big turn, minimizing wrist cock, and just pushing the hands forward at impact, instead of deceiving yourself into thinking that you can improve impact by controlling wrist position at impact, like the Ben Hogan drawing. Work on the big things and forget the little ones.

    Think you are overthinking the mechanics and that can mess you up since different mechanics can be right for slightly different swing types and since you are trying to build a swing and listening to too many mechanics, you will at some point need to just decide on something that works well and go with it. Seems to me you are swinging worse than 6 months ago where you were more natural and smooth, now quirky and indecisive.

    Imma be real with you. This guy is basically trying to teach you a push-draw swing. I think this is incorrect for you. I’ve seen your previous videos and your NATURAL tendency is to rotate your body fast, along with your high flexibility in your torso. Instead of trying to fight your natural tendencies, you should be utilizing your athletic rotation to START the ball left and fade it back in. You just have to dial in your wrist position at impact (which is why I think you were trying to bring it up). If you were my student I’d teach you how to close the clubhead a little at impact (by developing your wrist angles) and utilize your natural talent of body rotation to have you exit left through the ball.

      "This Guy" I think knows what he'd doing my dude. Probably more than you and he's actually THERE in person analyzing every step. Unless you're a more highly rated golf coach than Dana is. I've seen this dude on the golf channel a BUNCH of times. How many times have you been? I'm just keeping it real man ;)

      @@WigganNuG that's the kind of enabling BS that leads to less-than-optimal results when working with a coach. I'm fully aware of who he is, he works with mostly junior golfers who are still developing and growing into their bodies. Jerome is a fully grown man with fully-formed habits, and adults in general require a different approach to maximizing their potential. I'm not saying I'm a better coach than he is - I'm not saying I'm worse. But I have overwhelming personal evidence that trying to teach a latecomer a different swing is VASTLY inferior than working with what they've got and optimizing their innate strengths.

      Most pro golfers learned to draw before they started hitting fades. Beginners including Jerome tend to swing out to in which will naturally gravitate towards a slice unless they learn to neutralize it, that's why you teach beginners the baby draw because it counters the beginners natural, bad tendencies.

      @@esteban246pros that started playing as a child learned to hit draws because their undeveloped upper bodies are much weaker than their lower bodies. They need to use their legs to generate power and use the ground to drive up and into their shot. In contrast Jerome is fully developed, and like i said in my other post, as an adult his strength and natural tendency is using his powerful rotation to swing the club. I see this ALL THE TIME with athletic adults, and trying to fight that tendency is detrimental to their development. Also, he doesnt have an over the top problem, he has an open face at impact problem which can be fixed by learning to stabilize the wrist angle and getting into the slot while still allowing him to rotate hard. Instead, all these coaches are trying to fix him by teaching him a push-draw, stalling out his natural rotation and causing an awkward follow-through. It’ll get the job done eventually, but I’m saying it’s not optimal and won’t allow him to fully utilize his innate strengths.

    Just remember Tiger Woods will always be the second best golfer in the world because he'll never touch Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman doesn't come in a top five
