Perfect day for a soft top nice a5 fantastic engine sound and and an excellent video once again.
ian youd Thanks! I messed up the audio on this when I uploaded it! 😡I’m still learning 😂

ian youd That’s it! Couldn’t think of the name
Ah now you're talking, a proper car. See you're selling it, very tempting but sort the finance out?? 😂
High Peak Autos your videos are amazing and funny need a few more jaguar /Land Rover cars please
I bought this car two weeks ago and loving it so much so far 👌🏼
What year is yours?
K Scott looking to buy one this month 2016 convertible A5 2.0T for 25,000 wit 29,283 miles
I traded my A5 2.0T cab a month ago for a TT coupe. The A5 was a great car and as you pointed out very easy to live with day to day. I love the build quality and heft on these things, it feels solid and safe, a little dull but comfortable.
I have always thought that the A5, is one of the best looking cars on the road, I absolutely love them.
Looks like an A4 A6 not much difference in my opinion
@@colinl5985 What about the A5 though? I think they are stunning.
@@jeffallinson8089 I just told you. Looks t same.
@@colinl5985 The A5 looks nothing like the others. The A4 and A6 are really dull looking whereas the A5 is just a lovely design.
@@jeffallinson8089 with the roof off yes of course.
Another great vid, detailed, concise with a few great one-liners. I had an S5 from new for 4 years and loved it. That really had a great sound and popped the exhaust in Sport mode. Any excuse to put the roof down. Regularly took 4 adults in it as well and never any complaints from the back. Comfy, effortless and very well built. Having had multiple Audis, I'd always go for a quattro, roadholding and pulling out at junctions are massively improved & rarely have the traction light flicker (unless in boy-racer mode!).
I agree! Cheers :)
this looks beautiful and it sounds delicious. I had a V6 2.8 A4 droptop in the mid 90's and it was an absolute dream. This is just a bit more "grown up" and is better for it imo. Love it!
My 2011 S5 is very low maintenance and the built quality is excellent! Supercharger and S-Tronic transmission are fantastic. Great video!! 👍👍
i liked your sound track for this and your cut aways are good. you have improved your video editing very well. Out of all the car reviews i watch and I subscribe to a lot, yours is the one i look forward to the most. you are top of my list and i watch the ads fully for you to keep sending your honest but frank reviews.
Just got rid of an A4 cabriolet and you’re right about fabric roofs ,it just looks a lot more classy especially when all four windows are down .
I unfortunately had the 2ltr Td 140bhp and was an absolute dog of an engine.
Will probably go for the A5 coupe next.
Again , a no nonsense review ...
Top man
Excellent review as always , love watching these videos, I think the Audi Q5 would be a good car for you to enjoy and review too 👍🏻 just a suggestion , keep up the good work 👌🏽
The Volvo C70 looks great with the roof up or down!
You can't beat the appearance of a rag top with the top up, and there's no need to elaborate how attractive they are with the top down. The Audi A5 with the insulated roof and Quattro offers the best vehicle for all seasons which is a must in Canada if you expect to drive it year round.
Another very informative and un biased review.
Always like all the comparisons with other models you make.
Enjoyed the drive once again.
Cheers
Mike
Thanks for watching! :)
Wonderful end to the Bank Holiday Weekend, superb weather, very elegant car, even better cinematography, music and production than usual and the customary fantastic blend of information and entertainment. Thanks ever so much indeed again, Matt!
Thanks for watching again! Hope you've had a good weekend :)
@@HighPeakAutos, it's a pleasure! Just done a review on an F10 5-series and my first user request, a video about car finance (which didn't turn out very well).... Certainly had good weather this weekend! Was the end of the video intentionally silent or was there an audio problem, by the way? I was enjoying the new music at the beginning!
Very good, I'll check it out! The audio was messed up with this vid. I was trying something new and it didn't really work. For some reason the music at the end never appeared! I'll try again next time haha
@@HighPeakAutos, good on you for trying out something new! Sorry it didn't work out for you this time. We have had plenty of audio problems ourselves when filming reviews... Look forward to the next one and the trip to the North West we are planning for later this year!
Thanks currently have a 3.0 auto Z4 but would really like the additional room thanks for the video.
Brilliant video enjoyed
Excellent video as usual and if I just hadn't bought a 2 Series BMW convertible I may well had looked at one of these..Cheers Phil from Newar
Yes please!!! Great review, thank you.
Great info and video :)
Gorgeous car always fancied a convertible fingers crossed one day.great review keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching :)
Great to have a new video Matt.
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delay, I've had a busy couple of weeks :)
@@HighPeakAutosThanks for making them. That whole backseat passenger thing is definitely an issue though. It's a 4 seater with the top up but still only really a 2 when down. Such a niche car.
Another great review of a very nice looking car,the A5 does look the business as a saloon, but the best looking Audi for me is the A7
A lot of your remarks really resonated with me, and I'll tell you why. I had my 2 Litre diesel manual A4 (190bhp) in for service recently, and I had a 2 litre petrol TFSI multitronic A5 (252bhp?) as a courtesy car. I was expecting a much more powerful car experience, but I found myself wondering where all the power had gone. I was very underwhelmed! - because it didn't feel like 252bhp - and to be honest I was glad to get my 190bhp manual A4 back! - Oh and another thing about multitronic (CVT) - no creep, so 'edging forward' in one of those is a bit nerve wracking, especially when you aren't used to it. So, another great review. :)
Yeah you're right. The fact there's no 'creep' in autos like this is an odd sensation to get used to
Fantastic review as always
Springer spaniel Thanks for watching!
Your videos are on point!!!!
Sufyan Nasir Thanks!
do you have a review on audi a5 quattro petrol 2010 I'm thinking of getting one but still not sure love your videos keep up the good work
Great video, these look best top down :D
Great video thanks!
Martins Kitchen Thanks for watching!
Great video
Bought the 3.0 TDI because of the right gearbox ( dual clutch). Has been tuned bij Audi to 300 Bhp. Perfect car and uses half the fuel as my JAG xf V8.
Great review 🔥🔥🔥
Another great independent review, lovely jubbly.
paul taylor Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting the video. I have a Mercedes CLK280 - 3.0 v6 four-seater soft top. Great car and love I the sound of the AMG exhaust. I'm not sure why it's in a higher tax bracket than the Audi A5 though.
Great review Matt👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Have watched all your vids from the start and have yet to see a bad one. Keep um coming 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 Regards Steve.
Cheers Steve! Appreciate it :)
Have had a few A4 and A5 Cab and they are brilliant, plan to get a new one 3.0D. just love them. great fun and look great. you can still see an 09 and they look so good. Really reliable, Manual are great and easy to maintain. top car
Was looking at getting an A4 convertible any tips or anything I should be looking out for in your experience
Great Car
Had 3.0tdi cabrio last year , have to say the most impressive alround car I've owned in years
Did a 4000 mile round trip to Eastern Europe ' achieved 50mpg massive torque 'and had a £3 k repair to gearbox ...
That said , beautiful car , great build quality 'lots of standard equipment , mine was an S/line .. Get the S/line though
I just love this car omg😫
With Audi now going diesel with the S5, the late low mileage B8.5 (better looking than the awkward B9) is the one to go for in my opinion.
Love the Audi + Love your sun specs :0)
Rs4 will do the job another good show keep up the good work that a A5 will do the job
Getting mine delivered next Thursday!
Good stuff!
I had A3 3.2 V6 years ago - and that engine is lovely. Mind - never ever ever got more then 30mpg.
Need to be very careful of the early 2.0T petrols, which had engine issues resulting in excessive oil consumption.
James Hibbert : It was a cheaper material they used for the piston rings, I had my A4 from new 2009 and the problem started at around 50000 miles in 2015, I checked on the Internet and there were people complaining world wide. So I complained to Audi, I told them I knew of this big problem they had and they to their credit rebuilt my engine at no cost and gave me an A3 whilst it was being rebuilt. I still have the car, it’s working well and looking good at 10 years old.
Sweet review ....we are hopeful gotta win it come Sunday 😎
mikuelable Thanks! I hope so! What a strike from Vinnie 😬
Audi have often been accused of bland styling.
But to be fair. I quite like understated styling. I remember driving another VW offering. VW's Phaeton, with a 5.0 litre V10 diesel under the bonnet. It was extremely comfortable with somewhat anonymous styling. Just a big VW. I liked it. I was blown away by the performance from that diesel. That A5 cabriolet reminds me of that. It's not in your face styling like alot of today's coupe/cabriolet's. I like that. Comfort is the most important thing to me. If the A5
lives up to comfort and reasonable performance. It's a hit in my eyes.
I think as they become rarer these 6 cylinder cars will become very desirable and collectable. There's no doubt a 6 sounds so much nicer than a 4 and in a convertible that's definitely a big plus point. I remember when we had an original Porsche boxster which sounded incredible. Prior to that as a boy I used to beg my dad to over take stuff in our 6 cylinder 3 and 5 series BMWs just to hear the engine between 4 and 6k. It wasn't the performance that made it feel quick, it was the soundtrack. That 2.0 turbo petrol is quick but has far less character. 4 cylinder turbos are effective but not a 6. My family now have an slk 55amg and that V8 sound track is incredibly addictive. Perhaps that's going too far though because they are a bit nose heavy in the bends.
I hate Audis for being boring but the mk1 A5 and the mk1 TT are the most beautiful cars in existence
I bought a 2013 Audi A5 cabriolet-- haven’t had any problems to this date. Still looks like new.
I hade mine for 3 years now and I live it....2.0 tfsi s line 270bhp its a beast
Another excellent review, not my bag but I am a fan of 4 seater convertibles. I had a Saab soft top, would love another. Cheers
I'm a fan of Saab cabrios too
Have you styled your look on Johnny Bravo? :) (glad you have recorded a new video)
Paul Lees 😂
This will be my 5th car…was shopping for a 3 series convertible…. But this will be much better, wonder how reliable these are…. Prob will drive one week per month in the summer….
I agree that 4 seaters with metall roofs looks akward but The roadsters, mx5 and z4 looks good with a metall roof in my opinon
My answer to that ? Mercedes SL !
Nice car. I like Audi and especially the A5 which is one of the most exciting Audi models since the UR Quatro.
Although Audi makes almost impeccable quality cars, but they miss the excitement.
I have a beautiful sister, good brains and good looks, but she is as exiting as any Audi to me, even with the top off.
Great video again 👌👊
Thanks!
Great review., again, thank you. Any chance of the C Class review?
Thanks! I've got it lined up actually :)
High Peak Autos perfect, thank you.
@@HighPeakAutos...
Did you eventually get a Mercedes C Class Cabriolet review done?
There is a massive difference between metal roof constructions, yes a Peugeot 307/308cc for example looks very different and odd with the roof up, but a BMW E93/F33 or Volvo C70 look like quite normal coupes.
If you get the chance can you please review a medium milage Audi S5 coupe/sportback with the V6 engine?
Was making you a offer till you mentioned the gear box now the Audi is out will keep the TT and look at the e class but great review again
dave watts I made a mistake with this gearbox, it’s not a CVT after all. Apparently all Quattros have a standard auto
Oh and nearly forgot, the Quattro is excellent and if you did get a bit of snow then trust me you’d need it. You can drive it when all the BMW owners have to leave their cars at home and their x drive system is not a patch on Audi’s system.
You're right
I got one in black full spec immaculate and i got the neck fans too. i only paid 5500 in 2018 it had 85k on the clock fsh, person i bought it off never told me it had fuel pump issues but i had a feeling cos of the price, had to put like 900 work into it but it runs great now however i never drive it due to covid and literally never once got the chance to take the top down. would sell it if i could get anything better looking for 10k or less but tbh this is the best looking car under 10k
I’m devouring your videos, very informative and entertaining With less money to spend (under 3k ) would you suggest the A4 or even Audi 80 cabriolet might be a good buy ?
Thanks for watching! They’re great value. Go for a manual and you can’t go wrong
Hi Matt, I'm actually looking at a 2013MY 2.0TFSI Quattro A5. Have you had any experience with them, good or bad?
Hey mate wicked video as per usual. I’m looking at getting one of these and torn between one of these 3.2’s or the bmw 3 series 330/335i. Wanting something with enough room for people to actually fit in the back. What would be your pick of the two? For the record the ones I’m looking at are 2010 Audi and 2009 bmw. About the same mileage but Audi is £1500 more
Hi, thanks for watching. I think there’s slightly more room in the Audi
Great review Thank you . Would you choose this one over a Jaguar XK ? I mean newer ..
Probably not. I love the XK
I can’t wait to buy a 3.0TDI A5 Convertible.
Liked the arty cow shots at the start...miss the old classic Saab convertibles....
Thanks! There was some music to accompany those shots, but somehow its not appeared after I uploaded. If only I knew what I was doing! :)
I have Astra twintop which looks great with both roof up and down. It is not as good as Audi to drive and be in but for the price it looks good enough and does the job. Review of astra perhaps?
Don’t rule out the 3.0 Diesel Quattro. I have the 15 plate SLine and it has a lovely sound. Saying that I love the sound of a big diesel and the torque when she gets going is awesome.
Not the biggest fan of Audi and simply wouldn’t have a cvt auto whoever makes them. Always liked the look and practicality of the a4 cabrio though
The 4 and 5 have surprisingly good packaging for a 4 seat cabrio, it just a shame they’re front wheel drive. The S and RS models have longitudinally mounted engines and rear biased Quattro, but you can’t get manual ones! There’s no such thing as the perfect car :(
I had the 2009 A5 3.2 FSI 6 speed MT. It was an excellent quiet cruiser. Too bad it needed an oil top up every month.
VAG petrol engines always burn oil. The diesels are better
Don’t know where you found that weather - it’s been rubbish here! Wot a luvvly car.
Haha I filmed it over Easter weekend. I've been meaning to getting around to editing it but I've had a busy couple of weeks :)
Would like to see you review what you think would be the best model A5 coupe to be used as a 2nd occasional car.
Gotta start thinking bout my first car soon, this year a5 engine reliable?
One of the best if not the best review I've seen and heard. The most beautiful convertible around next to a Bentley, but that's comparing a yacht to a row boat isn't it.
Thank you! Yes, money permitting I'd obviously go for the B
It's funny how a car can look different to other people. To me the A5 convertible looks like a muscle bound lady shot putter wearing an elegant dress. She still looks good, just not what she's used to.
I do love that engine I was gutted when VW group dropped the big V6's. I'd love an R36 Passat estate, great sound and rare as rocking horse shit!
My dad has an R36 estate, got it nearly 12 years ago new and it’s still so cool
Christopher O'Grady your dad is 😎! Might be yours one day!
I had a 2litre 206 Peugeot convertible hard top. I loved that but it was more tax more insurance and heavier on fuel than my evoque. I love my Evoque.
Tina Cape I’ve not had an evoque but I do like them
Ive had all sorts of cars. My dad is a retired car dealer. Hence me been a petrolhead. And only ever ad 3 points for speeding lol. I love my cars. No kids no pets. Im aining for evoque convertible by the time im 55yrs old lmao.x
Hurrah, a convertible / soft top on review. Nice video and quite surprised to find the 3.2 is fitted with a CVT gearbox. Would it sway me from my Z4? No, admittedly I'm not normal - as in my Z4 is a daily driver, my only car, and yet I find it really easy to live with - but then the girlfriend has a sensible car so for those times when we want to take the dog for a walk, or get the family shop, we use hers. So yeah, get a Z4 in. ;-)
I agree! If you've got access to another car, then why not go for a 2 seater that's more fun to drive. I would do the same :)
I'm on the fence, love my Zed4, but need a 4seater now, considering a 3series or one of these. Oil consumption & timing tensioner issues are concerning. After all, all my Beemer ever did was puke oil out its valve cover!👍
and your haircut looks good
Can you do a review on a cls 10-12 years old?
When I get one I will! They're great value nowadays
And still very good looking
Would you recommend it buying in 2024? M11 model a5
Congrats on your channel. I’ve watched a few car channels but yours is getting weird for me.. I first stumbled across your channel when looking for reviews of a Skoda - I didn’t buy the car. I bought an X Type (which was soulful but crap) After which I sold it and started researching for my next car, which you reviewed - a Lexus IS250!
Then somehow you have specific videos for every car I was hunting for - namely the Freelander; The Jaguar XJ, the BMW X3 and seriously just last week I was searching up Audi A5.
And in one of your videos, ur comment abt reviewing cars that pple can own instead of super cars all the time was something that resonated with me cause that was something I would’ve loved to do too. But I’m no youtuber and cars in my country are ridiculously expensive (Singapore). But this clairvoyance is getting weird and so I just needed to comment about it to let you know you have a fan from Singapore !
Samuel Lim Haha that’s a coincidence! I’ve got a video coming with an X type too. Hello to you in Singapore and thanks for watching
So with logic, maybe I can get your opinion... I’m not sure if you know how the car system in Singapore works, but basically we pay to own cars for 10years.
Would you switch a 2009 is250 for a 2010 525i or a 2010 Lexus RX ?
I know that’s one of the last E60 6cyl engines and they spec it with suction doors and stuff... but I’ve always been concerned about the reliability of a bmw and it’s inherent problems. Lexus’s are generally problem free and also cheaper to insure. What do you think?
P.s. I loved my ‘09 Xtype! it was in old man champagne with beige leather; with so much soul but it was truly rubbish compared to ‘09 Lexus. It was lagging so far behind.
Samuel Lim That’s a tough one. I see the appeal of the bmw but the Lexus’s would both be more reliable. I wouldn’t buy the RX unless you need the extra space as they’re a bit boring to drive
I just bought a A5 convertible 2.0tfsi s-tronic 7 speed and i love it. Will delete my middle or rear end muffler to get a better growl. It is chipped aswell, so 260 bhp.
The 2.0tfsi is a good engine
I sure hope so, time will tell.
another great vid thanks, what sunglasses are you wearing?
Thanks! Hilfiger :)
looks good but not so sure about light steering around Snake... also I reckon a hardtop convertible so more superior as it is less prone to leaks?
Matthew Law Hardtops can leak too. Especially the VW Eos and Focus CC
Would you do A5 sportback 2017+
hat's really impressive is the endless miles of stacked rock walls!
I wouldnt have liked the job of building them all
What is your daily now the BMW is up for sale another great review a mate of mine is think about getting a s type jag in the near future what woud you recommend 30 v6 auto or manual
For the last few days I've been using the Jaguar XE, but I'm not sure what I fancy yet. I'll have to sell the BMW first and see what's around. Also, Definitely go for the auto S Type. The 3.0 V6 is bullet proof
@@HighPeakAutos thank you I will tell him I said to him go for the 4.0 v8 but is said no lol
The V8 is lovely! But the V6 is good enough
Further to the CVT versus s-tronic discussion, the ad. on auto trader says it's an S-tronic,is that sourced from the V5?
John Kerr I did a fair bit of research before doing this vid, and I was convinced it was a CVT but based on others comments it appears all Quattro aren’t cvt. They’re either standard auto or S-Tronic. My autotrader ad states S Tronic, but the ad is created automatically from the Reg number. I’m not convinced as it’s nothing like the S tronics I’ve had in the past. Very strange.
3.2 FSI engine was available with multitronic transmision but 3.2 FSI Quattro always with 7 speed S Tronic. !
Emilian Kryska I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s a CVT
Have you ever driven a CLK 500 convertible ? Lovely sound and cheap as chips
They’re great value
Love your vids. Out of interest, why are used A4 convertibles so cheap? You mentioned the conservative styling (which I agree), but they seem like bargain of the century - especially the 3 litre petrol and the S4. What's the trade view? Many thanks.
They are very good value. The A5 replaced them, so they dropped in value. A nice 3.0 petrol is still a very good car. I've heard the S4 can be costly and unreliable (4.2V8)
As of watching this review there are 52 3.0TDI A5 convertibles for sale. However, for the petrol 3.2, there are 0. Also, I'd imagine the 3.0 TDI will sound very good especially with a sports exhaust. I wouldn't be as quick to dismiss it as an option.
Folding metal roofs are for 2 seat convertibles if you ask me, fabric suits the bigger 4 doors
I agree. Folding metal roofs on 4 seaters look weird
Another good review.
Totally with you on cup holders, I wont buy a car that doesn't have a couple of cup holders.
I agree! That and heated seats are now a must for me :)
@@HighPeakAutos definitely :)
I think this obsession for cup holders is totally driven by the coffee obsessed. Most manufacturers do provide space for your wallet, keys and phone.........they call them door pockets and glove boxes. Personally I'm not a fan of eating and drinking in the car, cup holders are only good for bringing home your large Coke from KFC !
@@sirpeepsalot1 yes I am coffee obsessed, myself and a friend also go to those takeaways Park up, chat and eat chilled in our own space so yes a cup holder is a must, or I'm out about a decide I'm gonna buy a small lunch before heading home and once again that holder needed to hold the bottle I bought.
So yes to me they are a must.
If you don't then power to you.
Great car, especially 2.0 tdi
Alternatively buy the A3 convertible, the new shape one and you will love it
What the fuel average you get
I didn't know this was a CVT, I thought only the front wheel drive variants were CVT and the quattro used a proper auto
sideshowbob32 I could be wrong but I’m sure it’s a cvt
The Quattro was not a CVT it was either tiptronic or s-tronic
Quattro logo on front confusing.
High Peak Autos m
That exact car is for sale today at £8.995 . 😄😄😄😄 what was the mileage 3 years ago mate?
The CVT gearbox doesn't come with Quattro, it is only used on front wheel drive models. This car is the full auto tip tronic gearbox. If this was a slightly later model you would be luckier with the S tronic 7 speed DSG.
Wouldn't fancy putting 265bhp through the front wheels only! The only 6 cylinder Audi A5 make, that is front wheel drive and the CVT Multitronic is the 3.0TDi detuned 204bhp. I've owned 4 cylinder front wheel drive Audis and unless they are the smaller models like A1 to A3, then you need Quattro. It is just a much better drive even just in the wet weather, no snow needed. The Quattro is 60% rear wheel drive biased so it feels more like a surefooted rear wheel drive.
If you are looking at the 3.2 FSi and as you say it is very rare, unless you live in the US, then the better alternative would be the S5 with the 3.0 V6 supercharged. Even the 3.0 V6 TDi (245bhp, tuned over 300bhp) sounds good and is a good buy due to it's power, torque and economy, especially lugging an extra 200kgs of convertible bracings and body stiffening over the coupe/sportback bodied A5.
