  • In this video we will take a Hp pavilion 590 with a I-3, 4Gb of ram and a 210 watt Psu and upgrade it in to a cool gaming PC. We add a Asus RTX 2060 Super 8Gb, AData XPG 16Gb of DDR4 3000MHz Ram, PNY 1Tb SSD & a 400watt SFF HP PSU. I will walk you through on how to remove and install the new parts. I will provide link's for the parts I used in the video in the Description. If you want to know if a part will work or not, just ask in the comment section below.

    - Part# L04618-800 - It is a 400Watt SSF PSU With a 6 And 8 Pin Gpu adapter.
-Amazon rb.gy/arxrv5 I would not buy it from here, it is very overpriced.
-parts.hp.com For the best price instructions below on how to navigate the Hewlett-Packard site.
To navigate to it your self, go to parts.hp.com or if the other link below will work. Just skip to that part after the link.
Once on the page click the arrow next to find your part, on the right side. Because the website is to stupid to find the part for you. if you type it in the first search box. Then Select advance parts Then in the search bar, or try this link partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx Once there make sure to select your country in the top right corner, then in quick search type, or copy and paste the part number here L04618-800. It should be L04618-800 --- ( Power Supply - GNRC PSU 400W SFF Entl FR ) Then click the box next to the part, then Add to cart. It will add it, then you can order your PSU. It can take 3-7 days for your PSU to arrive.

It works, BUT you have to put it in upside down so you can plug in that one weird proprietary plug, and the case covers a bit of the edges of the exhaust fan (not really enough to be a problem but you could easily cut the case or add an external fan) and only one screw can hold it in. That being said, it’s sturdy in there and works fine! Doesn’t shake loose or anything.

Now you maybe able to get it to fit in a odd location. if you can do it with only 2 screw, I would do lock tight on them, the blue type. But When I looked at it, it would only fit One HDD, SSD and M.2. You could do 2 SSD and a M.2. I could be wrong. But I am pretty sure.

If you go beyond the rtx 2060 your just fine hp spec the pc to have 20-15% over head. They always over recommend what is called for, due to people that build pc mostly. Some one will build a pc with a parts that require more then the psu they buy, then thry have problems. The hp mother board with memory and cpu uses 120-130watts then only thing left is Drives and Gpu. You can only put 1 hdd that's 7-15watts. A 2060 only needs 175watts so . If you do the math a 400 watt is just fine. If you try to go above that you will run in to problems.

That HD caddy had enough room for your full size card. In mine I had to make a cut in the caddy to have a way to connect the 8 pin. Way too tight. Also, that 400w psu is way too hard to find and it never comes up in google searches

Memory up to 32Gb and if you have the 400 watt psu same one i use in the video you can do up to a 2060. they also make a 500 watt psu that will allow up to a 3070. that psu will also work.

  • @JohnLane_aka_Jane_Lane_fanboy

Learning from you, I can turn my HP Pavilion a6110n (Windows Vista with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+) into a gaming PC so I can play Crysis with the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS/640. Now I need 2 more 1 GB RAM to increase it into 4GB (that's because my desktop is 32-bit) and clone my 320GB hard drive into either a 500GB or 1TB solid state drive so I can put the SSD into the desktop.
