**UPDATE** I have not tried to re-download this game since I have made the tutorial. As you can see in the corner where the date is, I made this in 2018 and uploaded it this year. It is possible that this worked better on the version of Windows 10 I was using at the time and not so much now on newer updated versions. This game was made in 2002 and was designed to run on Windows XP, therefore it will be unstable on any version other than that. Graphical issues, crashing, lag, among other things will be common because the game was not made to run on Windows 10. This tutorial essentially forces Windows 10 to run the game. Some of you guys have been asking where to get the game. You can either buy the physical disk game on eBay, Amazon, wherever you want. Or you can download a torrent. I recommend a torrent over any ".exe" download because of issues that could arise from mounting the game to the ISO. If you have never downloaded a torrent before, or have never used Utorrent, then I suggest you watch a tutorial on how to use the software before you go ahead and download a torrent from a site. I personally have never had any issues downloading torrents from ThePirateBay. I can't make a video where I use that site because the video will most likely get taken down. Also, I felt like I didn't make this super clear in the video, but there should be NOTHING in the "analyze wait chain" box. You should end all the processes in that box.

Not sure if you still manage this or not but when I get to the part where you click to install or reinstall it works for me just like it does for you but when I get it done with and go to play it goes black screen then just closes. I hope you can help.
For the part where nothing happens and you have to go to the wait chain in Task Manager, if you have the Gamejolt client and/or Overflow, you might just save some time by turning them off along with their processes completely, and even remove them from the programs that automatically launch on startup. Every time I wanted to install an old game, they were the reason the installation didn't start.
Got it to install and everything, now the issue I'm having is when I try to click play game the screen goes black and crashes. Checked all programs that should be on compatibility xp pack 3 and still not working. Also I tried installing direct x 8.0 but the install/back/x buttons are all stuck and don't do anything. Checked the wait chain on the direct x program and theres nothing blocking it. Don't know what else to do.
UPDATE: I made this tutorial using an older graphics card from 2009. It is possible that newer GPU's could have graphical issues running such an old game.
This ended up taking quite a few tries because apparently multiple programs kept interfering with the setup and the right program to inspect had the InstallShield name on it instead, but it all worked after finally getting the right things closed.
So I tried following the steps and when it comes to the part where you gotta go into task manager and click go to details, I coudn't click on the details. Plus when it did end up installing the backgrounds were completely absent. Any way I can fix this?
When I get to the analyze wait chain part and try to delete the process, I get an "Access is denied" error and it refuses to delete it. It's rundll32.exe. Apparently it's a core windows file/process and that's why it won't let me end it. Not sure how to forcibly end the process.
idk if you still check your youitube but Ive installed the game and it opens sb2.exe and then black screens then crashes. I have tried with my disk and with a torrent but it doesnt work. Can you tell me what build of windows 10 you are running? I think the most recent build of windows 10 is not really working for this tutorial. I have tried playing this game forever and even tried a virtual machine of '98 just to play it and it still didn't work. I'm almost at my wits end lmfao
For some reason the game seems to have messed up texture with the character models,spongebob eyes and hat,sandys clothes and the other characters eyes seems to be transparent

To anyone at a dead end, I finally managed to get it working well through Linux instead of Windows. It surprisingly runs better on there. If you use a virtual machine, you can do this without uninstalling Windows. Just be sure to install the game through Lutris once you get Linux installed.

i'm getting a weird issue which i didn't get on windows 8.1 I'm on windows 10 now but whenever I try to install it the screen with Spongebob appears with the little box next to it saying 99% but after a bit an error message pops up saying setup has detected that uninstallshield is in use please close uninstallshield and restart setup error 432 it isn't open I don't no why it keeps coming up other old games install and play fine just this one won't install
nevermind finally worked it out what you do is find IsUninst.exe from your c://windows directory and delete it then the game installs like it's supposed to so if anyone receives this error delete that file it seems to happen to all of thq's old PC games

@@joshuamoreno824 Well there's really only 3 operating systems out: Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Dell computers should only really be running Windows. You might have an older version of windows. If that is the case, then the tutorial should still work. Your version of Windows should still have Task Manager and file explorer. Can you tell me exactly what issue you are having following the tutorial?

I did EVERYTHING and it's all looking like yours but when I click play game a window pop up and when I click yes I don't enter the game and when I click no I don't enter the game (sorry for bad English it's my second language)

on windows xp on virtualbox the game would only run in the safe mode exe and with windows 11 it would run the normal exe but the more text on the screen the more it would viciously lag. But yeah, once I restart the computer (xp emu or windows 11) it tells me to enter the disc again and I have to reinstall the game.

Windows is the operating system. If you have a Dell computer, its probably running Windows. If its not windows, what operating system do you have?
