the original idea for The Matrix was actually to use humans are computational devices, which makes sense, the change of the story to humans as batteries makes terrible sense but was thought to be easier for the layman to understand (they literally dumbed down the story)

- 2 new Megastructures
- New Pop Traits
- Non-gestalt Machine Empires (so like standard empires with standard civics)
- 3 New Machine Ascension Paths
- 7 New soundtracks.
- 1 New Crisis
- 1 New Player Crisis Path
There's likely far more that's not currently listed, but it does seem to be a significant bump for Machine Empires that have long been suffering from rigid gameplay.

I am immediately having flash back to Dark Tide when I saw the tower of Super computer, and each one of them have a servitor fused into it, their brain connected directly into the machine with thicc cable.

Stellaris is the name of the game
Black Holes are specific for enormous astronomical object. The thing behind engine which looks like a black hole could be anything which is smaller than Schwarzschild radius and causing space warp.
Anything with a mass has Schwarzschild radius, but most things we saw are much larger than that so we don't recognize them.
Black hole drive. Some scifi stuff.
Also Stellaris is like peak Sci-Fi nerd stuff if you have any interest in Sci-Fi/like star trek you'll love it.

Yep, there are already physics about how to super efficiently speed up from a stationary black hole, and towing one around in a containment field of some kind is a straightforward extension of that.

What I usually have to do is Synthetic Ascension, then switch civics to Spiritual for that kind of empire. I way beat the game before that point, but eh, I did it. It would be nice if it could happen sooner in a gamesave!

Serious question, why do people want that? It seems to me that it's very much outside the focus of the game. I know my experience wouldn't be improved if I had to micro every time I wanted to take a planet. But a small group of people seems to be really focused on it, and I'm curious to understand why.
@@Sylvie_without_surname we want a rework because you have these cool space battles and a bunch of ship customizations and details that have an impact on the game, a bunch of other details throughout the game that can be customized pretty nicely and then ground combat (an important part of the game as well) and it’s just like, green vs red circles….

I'm hoping for full on religion mechanics. Maybe in a similar vein to how civics work. Being spiritualist with no religion just feels lacking.
That's why you roleplay whatever your civilizations beliefs are.
Please use some of that sweet DLC money you guys have accumulated over the years and create a Stellaris anthology series akin to Love, Death + Robots. That would be amazing. These trailers get me hooked onto stories I'll never get to experience and characters I'll never see again.
This expands on a really interesting concept, that I was really wanting to see for a while now. In sci-fi, there is no reason for galactic empires to abide by any external regulation whatsoever, the only reason you can't break a truce, exploit resources to the absolute maximum as machines, use overpowered technology and etc is purely because of game balancing, and limits to the game's scope. This idea, expands so much on the concept of unhinged, galactic threats spawning out of empires in a way that feels much more meaningful than the previous player crisis, and genocidal empires, since one just wants to explode the galaxy for... some reason? and the others still abide by the game's balancing to not be overpowered. This seems like a more reasonable goal of just conquering and assimilating everything in the galaxy, for the reason of machine directives, and unbound by the game's usual laws.
I can't wait for this DLC.
The exploding the galaxy thing makes sense in context since the end goal is to pretty much use that to ascend to world with different laws of physics. The blowing up the galaxy part is just the side effect. It's basically a group saying they don't give a damn about everyone else as long as they get to become space gods to live forever.
The new crisis seems to be less about conquering everyone because there has to be an end goal to why they need so much processing power. It's likely some wonky timeline stuff or split universe stuff given it talks about Horizons which reminds me of event horizon and the theories on how universes could be created in one.

I don't know if it's the same but the species in the trailer and the one from Keides heavily resemble the "Humanoid #3" portrait, which I love! That was my first Stellaris species back in 2018, I associate them with the "Yldar" randomized name and even after all these years I keep playing with them💙

I waited a long time for an expansion like this.
The fact that we have not gotten a space opera sci-fi anthology show akin to Love, Death, & Robots for Stellaris in which each episode focuses on a specific empire seems like a massive missed opportunity.
I'm guessing that this will be a Cults and Religions DLC with a focus on synthetics, cyborgs, machines, releasing somewhere in May.
EDIT: ended up being another machine DLC which was expected.. tho its not focused on religions like its teased to be, tho there seems to be origins focused on cultist machines.

I kinda wish paradox produced a game set within the Stellaris universe that delved a little deeper into one nation within an empire that broke free from their rule, or eventually succumb to, basically being able to focus on the events of one particular world through time, instead of being able to keep tabs on multiple empires, and each decision made would change the ending of a story. And subsequent playthroughs you could start on a different planet with a different pop, for worse or better advantage. I just like how these trailers have little stories to be told in each one, as if this could a different kind of game. I do still like playing stellaris but sometimes now I can only play it for about 15 minutes before I'm over it and switch to another game.
