The form can’t be filed online, you can leave the US once you get your fingerprints taken but not sooner. Depending on your location, there’s a mailing address for each state, check it out in the i131 page in the uscis page
I'm planning to go out of the country next month, 4 weeks from now. I'm wondering if it's poosible to expedite the biometric appointment.

Hello, thank you for this video - we are doing the application for an undergraduate who will be studying abroad but returning for christmas and summers, possibly other holidays. How should we state the number of days that they will be away, since it is not a sustained absence? Also - will returning for christmas, summer, and for example, thanksgiving, be enough to demonstrate continuous presence for naturalization purposes?

when you say "continues physical presence" you mean "continues residence" not "physical presence" right? because physical presence is a minor issue as it only counts days within 5 years (you have to accumulate at least 50%), "continues residence", that is the problem. So the re-entry permit does not avoid the reset of the clock if you are absent from the country for one year or more in one trip, right? It only prevents that they cancel your LPR status, right?

Hi Maneesha, if we are out of the US for more than 6 months but less than a year, must we still apply for the re-entry permit? I was reading some sources and they mentioned >6 months,
My 2 cents, apply for it. Having the documents in order is a great way of showing customs and immigration officers that you are not intending to abandon your green card. Technically, after 6 months abroad your residency status may come into question when you try re-entering the USA.

You skipped part 3 (the part I was looking for) and the fact that it's for people who will pick up their document over seas but it won't accept a foreign address or phone number
Good day! I’m going back to the US this December to file the re entry permit, would it be advisable for relatives to mail the I-131 a month before I get to the country so I’m in the country to take biometrics? Since I can’t stay too long in the US as I need to return back to my country for university.
Also I reside at Virginia Beach, VA. I’d love to hear which office near me would the I-131 be filed at as the relative who’ll file it is on the older side.

I had To reapply all over again,Reentry permit cannot be renewed from what I’ve learned. Had to file same paperwork as i did at first. Best of luck

I had applied travel permit on 01-july-2022 and biometric was taken on 01-august-2022. In October 2022, I left the States and came to my homeland. Now its been 9 months (approx) since then and there is no status change.

It doesn't make Sense, my family member was planning to travel back in february but she was told she couldn't leave the country until the reentry permit was approved so she couldn't travel, it's been 14 months AND she hasnt heard anything from uscis yet, how is that even posible, this is ridiculous
Is it possible to apply form i-131 from a different state (other than the state of your permanent residence) and then get a biometrics appointment in a different state (in the state of your permanent residence)??

I have a US Green Card and a Canada PR Card...I plan to stay 6.5 months per year in the US and 5.5 months per year in canada to maintain both..I had to travel to india this year for some personal work and ended up staying 3 months instead of 1 month that has thrown my plan out of whack. This year from Jan 1st I've been able to be in the US for only 3 days ( 25 days in Jan and 10 days in May) and plan to go back on 1st Sep from Canada so 4 months till 31st Dec. shouyld that be alright to maintain my green card? Hi Maneesha, thanks for your great video. I have a quick question. Once I submit my I-131, I would like for the USCIS communications including receipt notice, biometrics appointment and the reentry permit to be mailed to my friend's address since we may not be around during the process.
Is it OK if I put my friend's address in Part 1? I am worried, because then the "Physical Address" I put on this form will not be the same as the address that USCIS already has as my home address.
I got info from another attorney that we can provide an address of our home country consulate or embassy so USCIS deliver there and than we can collect it from there

Yes, that is really an option to have it sent to the consulate/embassy in your country and then collect it from there or have the consulate/embassy to mail it to you in your country. However, I did not want to do that because I am traveling a lot. I just wanted it to be delivered to my US mailing address (i.e. my friend's place). Most USCIS forms let you list both a mailing and a physical address but this one does not. So, I decided to put my mailing address on this form in the place allocated for the physical address and then I attached a cover letter and explained why I did it and that this is my mailing address and my physical address is XXX. So far, it has been fine and I have received the receipt notice at my mailing address. I will wait and see how next steps go and will let you know whehter it completes without a problem or not.

Hi maneesha , thank you so much for the informative video . I got green.card in 2003 and since then applied for reentry permit 3 times not qualified for citizenship. But since 2018 I have been in usa not less than six months every year till date overall staying for 36 months in 5 years but in 2020ive been in my native country for nearly an year during pandemic . My husband age is 72 years and hence could not take a chance of tranvelling . Will that be considered and will we be eligible to apply for citizenship or will it be considered from 2021
