  • No way am I spending $1500+ on a serpentine kit for my small block Chevrolet, but I also want something reliable. After researching for weeks, I finally found a good solution. Chevrolet makes an off the shelf kit that utilizes brackets from a 1992 Camaro, BUT with the aid of a few part numbers, you can find all those parts for much cheaper on eBay.
Chevrolet Performance Deluxe Serpentine Drive Kit (PN 12497698)
10055800 Secondary Air Injector Pump Bracket
    1134344 Air Compressor Assembly (CR4)
    10129569 Idler Belt Pulley Bracket
    88894005 Water Pump Kit
    10055880 Water Pump Pulley
    10055879 Crankshaft Pulley
    10463172 Alternator Assembly - 105 AMP (reman)
    12117361 Alternator Connector (with lead)
    10055798 Drive Belt Tensioner Assembly

I pulled the bracket off a 2002 S10 thinking it would work no chance i actually want the alternator on that side in my 57 Chevy thanks for the detailed video cheers ! TrifiveGuy

couldn't help but laugh at struggle with that power steering pump ordeal as i went thru this last week myself. i put serpentine system onto my olds g body with sbc. finally together but running into same issue with top hose and also alternator connector is different. is a pain for sure but worth it when done. good video!

You definitely need the brace that hoses on the back of the alternator. It bolts the power steering pump, exhaust manifold, and alternator together and keeps the belt tension from pulling the alternator forward and busting the ears off the bracket

Great Great Video- Thank you 4- the Information

  • @jontonomousw7161

Great meat and potetoes vid right there budd 👍👍👍

Your thermostat housing/water outlet looks like the swivel type for top water hose. Turn it 90° and run the hose behind the alternator, around the outside, round the outside*, to the radiator.

Good video. Thanks for sharing. I bought a serp belt 'kit' off an old 92 camaro and will use it for my new SBC 383 build. Any chance you have a list of the bolts and hardware used? I have the brackets and components (tensioner, A/C, Alt., P/S pump) but not a single mounting hardware bolt. Any thing in this area? thanks again.

There is a smog pump delete pulley that should fit in that open space. It’s a bigger idler pulley with bracket

  • @Mrmudbone_gaming

What belt did you end up getting? Since you don’t have the smog pump

  • @Mbcoinsnet

My question is I am doing the reverse of what your doing. I took the serpentine belt off along with my ac. And all those bulky brackets. Just to have a PS pump and alternator. I am now finding out that the water pump when on the belt is a reverse pump. So are you also removing and replacing your water pump with a reverse pump?

  • @OldBodyChevy

grab a thermostat housing and upper radiator hose for a 96+ 5.7 silverado

  • @arizonarider6998

On my passenger side head I only have one hole . Was yours the same way and what did you do to solve that issue ?

  • @1crzytav

Curious if you are running an electric fuel pump? As those motors were tbi thanks

  • @martingarza9855

Cool I going threw this issue s n ow I going to to this

  • @Adee4750

What motor did you install that on

  • @sanchoramirez8357

Wow you just turned a sbc in a 4.3 look. 😂😂😂😂 just for a serpentine belt. Wtf. SMH

  • @ratman90gmail

Looks great! I wish there was a bolt list by size and location for those 27 bolts!
