the song is about her relationship with robert pattison, his fans were very rude to her and he did nothing too stop it that why they ended the relationship. the audience you hear is his fans and the people wanting to see them apart are also his fans. The sky above is like the good part of the relationship and her falling down is when the relationship getting worse and ending. I think

This a fair interpretation, but a contributing factor not many people are aware of at first glance was about a year prior to this, she had to have surgery to remove fibroid tumors, which form in a woman's reproductive system. From what she said they were “pretty large, the size of two cooking apples, three kiwis and a couple of strawberries. A fruit bowl of pain every day. The nurse said that the weight and size was like being six months pregnant." In fact while filming an Apple commercial, the surgical stitches mortifyingly opened.
Factor in her relationship with Robert Pattinson (which had support issues, given the backlash from some of his more toxic fans, who who tore her down publicly & he did barely anything to address it) and her growing music career (as she had had careerwise been primarily a sought after dancer, before becoming a full time singer),.
Bearing that in mind, all of this literally tore her apart where she was emotionally, mentally, physically, and ecumenically at a nexus point of wreckage (represented by the beautiful but deathly encapsulating crystalline flying creature that reflected her own self back at, a mirror of what she had become to remind her that painful change was needed fro her to start over) where she had to build herself back up and start from the beginning (reflected here in the end sequence covered in healing clay by the female representations of her physical & mental recovery),
The pole dancing was perfect for her physically, since it fell within her experience dancing and served as physical therapy & emotional therapy, learning to re-appreciate herself as a person & an artist. This led to writing the song, training heavily for the video, and thus it resulted in this gorgeous work of art.
And yes you should definitely checkout her other music/videos (recommending the visually similar Two Weeks, Sad Day, Pendulum, Water Me, Good To Love) plus she did a great turn as an actress in "Honey Boy".
Her vulnerability and sincerity in that video is so unreal… I had no idea she could go that deep… I actually prefer this over her typical musical releases. I know she was dating Batman and he broke off the engagement… And she want something very minimalistic to convey the heartbreak… 💔

The part where we see her reflection on the floor, reflecting the sky and the beautiful creature up above, calls my attention . Cellophane itself is clear and can signify in a sense reflection/transparency. I find it interesting that once she reaches the “top” , the creatures face, it’s real reflection was shown and she goes down a negative spiral. I believe that from the very beginning she was already at that negative bottom but she didn’t know the truth was hidden like the creatures face. She thought her relationship was heavenly and beautiful , positive and light, but the truths revealed showed that it has always been a negative bottomless pit, hiding its reflection, but at the end it became transparent or rather clear.

FKA is an amazing dancer and visual artist and that body is just goals. It’s about having a fall from Grace and being brought down into the pits with the mud slingers until she is literally muddied herself. All her videos are amazing “Glass and Patrone” is my fave for the amazing dancing.

Sad day is another great song/music video by Fka twigs. Great content!
The first 60 seconds of this dance shows her transparency (women will understand it). The audience sound shows she felt as if she was for show. She stood there and all stared, but then her first line "didn't I do it for you?" She questions everything from her transparency. She starts soothing about the relations of opening herself and putting herself out there. But the one she is crying out to doesn't do what she does in return. And those watching (for show) questions them. So she becomes upset and asks for faith to help her through all the show of sharing. She is tired of all her feelings being used and abused through her falls. She just wants to be the one.
