In this video I describe the method on how to bypass the 15 minute timer on a Kamp Kitchen turkey fryer. It is a very simple process that requires minimal tools (screwdriver, wire cap, electric tape, wire snips).
I picked up this fryer from Target on clearance for $29.95 in late February. If you want to grab one, I suggest you try at the same time of year. They retail for $59.99
Awesome video! Worked like a charm! I just finished bypassing the timer on my Bass Pro turkey fryer thanks to this video. Now, I don’t have to deal with that annoying timer.
Excellent video. Just picked one of these up and was shaking my head when I saw the timer. About to do some snippin'. Thanks!
Gonna try this tonight! Thanks for the super easy and informative video!
Nice! Thank you for the video. I just bought one of these and didn't realize there was a timer until I got it open. Not something anyone wants to deal with. I will definitely be bypassing mine. 👍
Thank you I did what you said and it worked perfectly. I did solder my connections, no more stupid timer
Works like a charm, thank you!
Thanks for the video, my parents bought this Willy nilly and didn't know about the 15 minute limit. They used to have one that was always on since a lot of stuff like stew can take a long time
Thanks for the detailed instructions!!
Thanks for this. That timer was stupid AF!
Thank you so much that timer was driving me crazy and my back god bless you
Thanks for uploading. It definitely help .
Just used this to fix my bass pro burner with a15 minute timer. Thank you
Very helpful video. Thank you. Worked perfectly
Thank very much you are the best teacher!!!!!!!!
Thanks. I use this for Making Maple Syrup on my property in NY. I hated the timer last year...this year I have more time to drink IPA's while watching the boil - not the Clock!
Thanks for doing this video! As with most things now, companies engineer everything for the clueless. frying a turkey and having to continually reach down and turn the timer again is a HUGE PITA. So much better now!
Yes it is.
Thank you for the video!! Easy steps🙏🙏
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! In my opinion it’s more UNSAFE to have to relight a flame under a hot burner with hot water or oil on top of it after the timer shuts it off, if you miscalculate the time before rewinding. It says 15 min on the timer housing, but it actually varies between 10 and 12 minutes. Great video!
Thanks. Worked great
Just found a similar one on the curb, pot and all. Was looking to see how to clean it up. Good info thank you.
Look up PBW. It is your friend.
Works like a charm
Glad to hear. Enjoy that bird.
Thanks brother just trying to figure this out
Great. I will do this tomorrow.
+Mary Catherine Let me know how it goes.
Thank you it works
Glad I can help. What are you using it for?
Great vid, I'm doing this today.
Jason Bolte How did it go?
HypoBrew my unit had other issues so I ended buying a whole other unit for $59, I'll mod this new one though.
thanks
You da best
Great video. Question: is it hot doing work in they long sleeve sweater?
U could use needle nose to take pull them off and use a double wamie on them .
Good. but i just put a pair of vice grips on the knob so it is too heavy to turn off.
The real genius here. Good idea
that is absolutely fuckin brilliant. wish i'd have come here yesterday...my timer LITERALLY cut off after every 7 minutes!!!!! ended up finishing the bird in the oven. turned out pretty good...
Thank you bruh my timer blu up hahahahaha jk works like a charm
Mine just never counted down lol. I use it to boil stuff and not fry.
I don't care much but what the point to add a timer that doesn't even work on some.unit xD
Would this work for my browning fryer?
Not sure. I don’t know what a browning fryer is used for. I would certainly do some more research before (possibly) breaking a good burner.
Is there any way to adjust the flame or temperature on this?
On this model there was a separate setting for the gas output.
Will this work for all brand deep fryers
Depends on how the wiring for the timer is set up. I can’t imagine things being too different.
Can you remove the regulator hose from the timer box to bypass all of the timer box? I don’t have enough wire inside the timer box to connect the two wires inside the timer box?
Thanks in advance
What powers the wires in the timer? Is there a battery or something?
It's a thermocouple. It generates 30 millivolts while in direct flame which energizes the solenoid coil in the gas valve. Other units use a thermopyle which is larger and has a bunch of thermocouples wired in series inside a larger sensor. They produce 600 - 750 millivolts for larger gas solenoid valves. Gas appliances use these as safety features and the signal can be wired thru timers, thermostats and high temperature limit switches.
How long did this work after doing this modification
Never stopped working.
Thanks for this video that timer is bs
So I did exactly what you did in the video. It lights when I hold the button down but as soon as I let go of the button it turns off. Have any idea?
Did you find out how to solve the problem?
I had this issue. Make sure the thermalcoupler is in far enough to reach the flame.
You have to press down for about 15 to 20 seconds you may be releasing the button to soon
My Friend let me use his and it had this thing on it. I was at the Raider game trying to Fry a Turkey while it was storming. The flame kept going out. This shit was the dumbest shit ever.. It pissed me off..
Hmmnnn ... OK- how does the cut-off work? What is it? A solenoid? What powers it? I do not see a battery anywhere...
+Tony Q. King I think it's a simply on/off switch. When you wind up the timer it closes the switch. When it times out it opens the switch. There is no power to the timer. Honestly, I wasn't too concerned on how the timer worked I just wanted to bypass it so I didn't have to babysit it when I was making my beers.
It could be a solenoid .There are no batteries in the unit I picked up.
Works off heat
Why not just remove both devices completely so that you just light it and be done. I don't see the need for the thermocouple either
How do you remove the thermocouple ?
The thermocouple provides a 30 millivolt signal to operate the gas solenoid valve so long as it is in direct flame. So if the burner flame is blown out or snuffed out by splashing, the gas valve will shut off to prevent an accumulation of gas.
That Timer is a pain in the Butt?
Yes our dear old government thinks adults are their children and passed laws to force these companies to do this. We actually pay taxes for them to pass these laws....
Even though this Burner is cheap all that Timer does is just adds to the cost Of the product also.
MAGA
An easier way is to stick a wood shim behind the knob an wedge it tight enough to keep the knob from turning. You should NOT bypass timer for safety reasons.
Don’t tell me how to live my life
That 15 minute timer was the dumbest thing I’ve every seen
The timer is there to help prevent drunken idiots from burning down their houses. A safety devise should never be disabled, that's just a bad idea and bad advice. Also it is a thermocouple, not coupler. A coupler is something that joins two things together.
No body cares
