  • Butt kicks are a running drill that can help improve running mechanics by:
    Enhancing hamstring flexibility. Butt kicks help to stretch the hamstrings, which can help to improve running form and prevent injuries.
    Improving leg turnover. Butt kicks can help to increase the speed of your leg turnover, which can help you to run faster and more efficiently.
    Strengthening the core. Butt kicks require you to engage your core muscles to maintain good form, which can help to strengthen these muscles and improve your overall running performance.
    To do a butt kick, simply run in place and bring your heels up towards your buttock with each stride. Make sure to keep your core engaged and your back straight. You can do butt kicks for 30 seconds to 1 minute at a time, and repeat 2 to 3 times.

      @@_charihawkinsI’ve seen quite a few comments by military veterans about long term injuries from constant runs and rucking. It seems like the army might benefit from your running expertise. I know I was deeply impressed by your shin splint videos. It’s amazing how much difference proper form can make.

      ​@@_charihawkins i have seen kipchoge's running technique, his head and knees are in straight position, however in this video your knees are way more ahead to your head and his kicks looks something different, I want you to upload shorts on kipchoge's running technique, he is amazing

    if only my cross country and track team had you as our coach, we’d be UNSTOPPABLE. they don’t care how we perform our drills, no wonder we’re constantly injuring ourselves.

    I partially ruptured my Achilles 7 years ago and never fully rehabbed it. Recently I've been feeling stronger than I ever have, and want to try running, which I've always felt excluded from. These videos have significantly reduced my anxiety, thank you ❤

    When I ran track in HS we did the kicks the bad way. We didn't know any better. This was before youtube. Great advice.

    Wow. Your videos have been amazing to watch. Explains why running hurt my body after years and literally locked up 1 day and needing picked up off the ground- later forcing me to quit running all together… have been thinking about starting again and these videos are extremely helpful.

    Great tip!! My heart hasn't been doing so good so I started exercising. I have to say, its been the hardest thing I ever had to do. Mainly because most people on CZcams don't know how to explain things in detail. The result of that, for me, has been making my heart worse because I end up doing the exercises/workouts incorrectly and I give up quickly.
    For butt kicks, straightening your hips up, drive your knees up and hit your booty underneath makes a huge difference😢

    Depends on what you’re using butt kicks for. As a running drill, yes. But the first method is a dynamic stretch, so is a warm up. Different purposes.

    there is a high pole vault with a tarp over the landing pad....I use to live Homeless at UCSD and was the first one in Central Library and one of the last ones to leave as I use to sit in on classes and pick up UCSD girls...sometimes I would crawl under the tarp at night and sleep and in the morning ...people would be jogging and i would crawl out JUMP on the track and act like I was there to Jog ...run around the track and then off to start my day !

      Drills are exaggerations of good running form. They establish muscle memory.
