For the first time I am listening to Parthasarathi Desikan. I listened to Kaushiki’s golden voice many a time. His voice is more than excellent. What a rich voice he has got ! Great singing by couple. I am music novice. I feel this Ganapathi bhajan is somewhat similar to Carnatic style may be because of Hamsadhwani.

Raag Hamsadhwani originated in carnatic music and much later, was adapted into Hindustani classical music.
If you noticed, Desikan's sryle of rendering in this duet was entirely aligned with Carnatic music while Kaushiki followed the Hindustani style. Brilliant jugalbandhi.

It is immensely famous, and should be available in versions by many musicians, vocal and instrumental. There is one version with Kaushiki with Sri Balamurali Krishna, her guru in carnatic music.

My first introduction to Hamshadhwani was with this Bandish rendered by the Legendary A T Kanan Sir in Hwritwik Ghatak's Mehge Dhaka Tara.
The Bliss of this Bandish remains unaltered with such heavenly rendition by Pt Parthasarathi Desikaan ji and Pta Kaushiki Chakraborty Desikaan ji. Kya Baat 🙏

This is Hindusthani Vocal which is known for Strong Breath at High Scale . Carnatic music doesnt Need to hold breath at high scales . Yes Antara there is some Similarity with Carnatic Music . BUT this is Pure Hindusthani vocal which originates from 7 Top Gharanas spread accross Afghanistan till MP and Bengal . Bengal has Vishnupur Gharana so has MP which Gwalior Patiala Lucknow Aligargh Allahabad and Kirana . No music in world has renditions based in Schools in different cities

@@tamals22 good and thanks that you educated me but let me admit that I don't have much knowledge about music I only have a good ear for good music though I don't understand which gharana, tala, raga etc. Anything soothing to my ear and about nature I make it a point to listen to it. Because all this can learned only from an ustaad or under guru shishya parampara which has become rare nowadays.
But my favourite in southern carnatic are Ms subbalaxmi, dk pattama, balamuralikrishnan
In North it is pandit jasraj, kishori amonkar, bade ghulam Ali, ustad amjad Ali Khan etc
In pop it is lataji, Mohd rafisaab, Kishore kumarji Mukesh

I think the original is Vatapi ganapatim. The Hindustani version was made based on Vatapi.

​@@nandinandi5370- Raag Hansadhwani is present in both Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. Here the name is the same but the other raag like Shankaravaranam is raag Bilawal in Hindustani. Since it is the same raag, the composition will sound similar.

Really excellent. 🙏👏👏👏 both voices are Gods gifted. In a special note, out of lot of classical music so far I heard, in this raga, the male voice at some notes gave me an impression like, This could be example of “Gandharva Ganam” which I read through some mythological write ups. So great gift of god, some thing like can’t be expressed in words. At some specific notes, I was replaying several times. 🙏🙏🙏
