      The great musician Tansen, actually did this for real some centuries ago in the Madhya Pradesh region of India. This is inspired by that I guess. IN fact, certain raag when sung by a master can bring rain, it is believed.

      There's actually another reason for that smile... In Hindustani classical using "Falsetto" is considered to be a sin. But Radhe used it throughout the last portion. Even then it sounded enchanting and Digvijay couldn't keep up...

      @@rbhardwa1 It is believed by some guruji that Hindustani Classical Music is to be sung with Chest Voice only, using Falsetto is cheating, as it reduces the effort required in singing. However, once you reach a certain position in music and are able to produce three octaves in your chest voice, or in other words you become a Pandit/Ustad, the understanding of the music extends from these rules.
      Also if you can produce three octaves in your chest voice, then that would mean that if you want to use falsetto you are really going farther than normal songs reach, thus, it can be considered not a sin.

    There is a scene in this series.. where the guy who was thrown out of Panditji's classes for singing falsetto goes to digvijays classes later .. and during auditions, digvijay is impressed and asks where he learnt.. he says, Panditji..
    Then digvijay asked why he left.
    And he says, cause he is outdated and he wants to learn new things
    And digvijay immediately gets angry and says, "Agar unn se nhi seekh sake toh kissi se nhi seekh sakte tum"
    Now thats how an enimety should look like..
    Respectful as well as competitive..

    I am huge fan of our traditional Indian classical music. I don't know why but my tears comes out each time i watch this. Ustaad Fareed Hasan & Ustaad Mohd. Amaan has done so much brilliance in this Shankar Mahadevan's mind boggling composition. The way it is presented in Bandish Bandit is truly a proud moment for our Indian Classical music & all the 140 Crore Indians living anywhere on this planet.

      This bandish is a mix of megh malhar with both nishads and komal gandhar. In a way the core raag is megh malhar with assistance from miyan malhar raga

    Both of them are singing Megh Malhar, a Hindustani classical raga. The name derives from the Sanskrit word Megh, meaning cloud. Legends say that this raga has the power to bring out rains in the area where it is sung.

    The ending quite inspired by Baiju Bawra where Tansen's tanpura string breaks and Baiju carries on....and reaches higher octaves and stone melts. Here rain starts falling.

      copywood can not make originals anymore, but the actual raag malhar's purpose is to make rain technically, which I've heard from old music masters that it could actually happen.

    Still having goosebumps in 2023. Never has a series touched the fans so much. Respect for all actors.
    Those expressions are so spot on for Radhe (initially he is nervous when jugalbandi part starts and gains confidence and a bit of stubbornness later) and Digvijay with his overconfidence right from the start and the moment he realizes that he is actually proud of his opponent and nephew!

      That character was written very well and Atul Sir did full justice to that. Playing such multi layered character is never easy. Just look he hates his father but respects him as an elder and guru, want to defeat his nephew to take back gharana but doesn't want to defeat as he can't hurt her love, lost in the end but appreciated his nephew and in very end comes to his purpose back "ye gharana to main lekr rhunga" Such multi layered and intricate character. 😅

    This is the power of Hindustani classical music ...so many wonderful and divine ragas are there..raga Deepak which is used to employ lighting lamps is no longer known today.... but it is very pathetic that nowadays people only prefers the pop and rock music and most of the singers forget how to pronounce Hindi or any other Indian language while singing and audience provide more likes in the remix version than that of the original songs .....audience and music directors degrades the standard and class of Indian music day by day.. ......

      This is raag Miya Malhar. This was first presented by Maestro taansen to bring rain. This is sub- Malhar. A very beautiful raag which is learnt after 7 years of riyas.

    Whoever loved this composition, please watch Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's Miyan Ki Malhar - 1971 performance. This is a lovely composition, I agree. But it is not the first time such a performance has been rendered in Indian classical music. THis song I'm sure is inspired by those true legends and is probably an ode to them. A request with folded hands for all you music lovers to revisit the work of our legends to better appreciate Indian classical music. You won't find such depth anywhere else in this world.

    for those who have seen Kung Fu Panda, this is exactly like the moment where Tai Lung realises that Po knows the Wuxi Finger Hold, and that too without knowing anything from the master/scroll. Exactly how Digvijay feels here when he thinks it's done but then Radhe just keeps escalating the scale & takes it to another level, mind-blowing scenes both of them!

    So amusing that people are talking about classical hindusthani music in films. So Bandish Bandits barely scratches the surface. Listen to compositions of SD Burman, Rahul Dev Burman, Madan Mohan, Shankar Raghuvanshi, Roshan ji and Nausad. You get a proper intro to music than current Bollywood stuff.

    In the ending radhe went to falsetto and naseeruddin Shah thought that he did wrong. But radhe took the falsetto to high pitch to cause rain. It was his capability.
