  • Following an agreement with the copyright holder reproduced here is short film footage of a number of English and Scottish Football grounds taken during the 1979/1981 seasons. The original Cine film was shot in Super 8 format in colour and last approximately 90 seconds the quality is variable. (This version 640x480).
The footage captures the scene in and around grounds revealing the stands and terraces and they are a unique snapshot of crucially how the grounds appeared at the time before some of which disappeared forever or had yet to be redeveloped. Clubs not featured were either never filmed or they refused permsission to film at their ground.
In providing these clips respect respect the copyright holder and do not edit or redistribute any of the footage but links back to this post are fine.

Very emotional. As a 66 yr old. This is how I remember it as a young supporter.

Spion Kop... used to get the bus into town from Inskip and walk up. Really enjoyed that first season in the old Division 2 with Nobby at the helm! Great memories. Thanks for putting this up!

Back then every football ground was different. Deepdale was old but looked after. West Stand very cosy and you never got wet. Spion Kop massive.

Does anyone know who filmed this? There's one done on probably the same day down the 61 at Burnden Park, same music too, now sadly gone.
    Great stuff.

Lovely old ground. Replaced by a tedious pile of plastic and concrete. As usual. Everton are committing the same crime. Why aren’t OUR stadiums grade listed buildings? If this were a rich man’s game they would be. Memories of millions of us demolished for soulless stadiums. Sad.
