Easy Chicken Katsu (Cooking with Mom-RECIPES)

INGREDIENTS:
2 chicken breasts
2 eggs
3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
1/4 cup flour
garlic salt ( or salt and pepper )
shredded cabbage and tomatoes for garnish
DIRECTIONS:
Shred or slice your cabbage thinly as possible. Put the shredded cabbage into a bowl of water and set aside. Cut the chicken breasts diagonally about 1/2 inch thick. Season with garlic salt (or salt and pepper). Crack the eggs into a small bowl and whisk. Coat the chicken with flour. Then dip it into the egg wash. Finally coat well with the panko bread crumbs.
Deep fry in hot oil for 5-7 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Enjoy with tonkatsu sauce. If you don't have any, you can simply put a couple drops of soy sauce into ketchup. Eat while they are hot.

I forgot to mention earlier that I'm a chef so your videos make me very happy that cooking is so important, we have forgotten how to cook at home in America. An easy Tonkatsu sauce is Ketchup, Worcestershire, Oyster Sauce, and some Sugar. I think Brown sugar would be outstanding. Thanks again for an amazing video.

This recipe is near exact to my German grandmothers recipe for schnitzel and my recipe for fried chicken. My kids love it and I'll be in the kitchen for hours frying. I still learned more from your Mom. Love these videos.

I made this yesterday for dinner and I thought the cabbage was going to be boring on the side all by itself, but actually it was the perfect side! I drizzled with some homemade Tonkatsu sauce and sent the leftovers with my husband for lunch today. He just called to tell me thank you and say it was just as good today as it was fresh yesterday. I used 2 thin hand carved boneless skinless chicken breasts and it gave me 3 servings. We are definitely adding this meal into our regular rotation!
