    I think you are bringing the right amount of energy to the video. You should be a little more animated than you would in real life. All the greats do this. Keep it up.

    Have machine shop polish crank, have the machine shop help with block decision. Do a stage 1-2 valve/heads and decent cam. Then call EFI guy run the factory Ford stuff they run excellent.

    Good vid just bought a 96 5.0 out of a mountaineer has the gt40 heads wanting to carb it and put it in my 83 glx taking my time so I don’t make any mistakes keep the vids coming 👍🏽💪🏽

    With this motor I would at least have it bored or honed out about 5,000 buy some oversized rings for your stock Pistons if that's what you're wanting to go back with!! That's just a scenario for your 3,000's problem!! And maybe that will solve the cylinder problem!! Or just go ahead and have it board over 20,000 and put flat top pistons in it will give you a better compression ratio either anyway!! And go with a little bit bigger fuel injection like a 26 lb fuel injector should solve the lean problem!! I wish you well hopefully we'll see this in your newer videos!! I will be watching more of your videos! 👌👍👍

    Just my opinion from past experience..polish the crank, hone it, new bearings, rings, oil pump and run it. I've done a few of these high mileage explorer engines (160 to 180K mile) with no problems and used them in older carbureted vehicles. Most still had factory crosshatch on a biggest part of all the cylinders with minimal wear, the cranks polish up fine and are still in spec and so is the ring gap. They run great, don't use oil and make decent power with a good cam and valve spring change.

      That’s the way I’m leaning Don. Everything about the motor seems fine.

      This is the exact build I'm wanting to do. I bought a 00 explorer motor yesterday. 164,000 mi. on it. I'm planning on using the gt40p heads. Edelbrock performer rpm intake, and 600cfm carb. Can you recommend a cam and springs? Thanks!

      @@user-sg6fb4ip5h I can't really recommend a cam for you but I have the exact same set up you're doing. I used a old school B303 and drop in matching springs for GT40P heads from Alex's parts. www.alexsparts.com/ford-small-block-302-ho-w-e7-gt40p-gt40/ Runs strong and sounds good for what it is, it's in a 70 Mustang with a T5 and 3:80 gears.

      @@dcsmitty50 Thanks! I'll be tearing mine down today when it warms up some.
      Do you hone it yourself or get machine shop to do it?
      Also do you use factory style oil pump or aftermarket high volume pump?

    Great vid buddy my only advice is Dont use normal sockets with a rattle gun , You will one day loose an eye , they explode , Use CR-MO chrome molly 6 sided sockets ,

    What size bolts did you use on the harmonic balancer?

    I'd go with 10,000 over bore on it and go with the Holley sniper E F I set up it

    Is it possible that this engine has been rebored once already?

    • @alpinegarage8548
      @alpinegarage8548  Před 3 lety +1

      Don’t think so. It’s only .002 over.

      @rev.dennisp.sepulveda5965 Před 3 lety +1

      @@alpinegarage8548 ok. I don’t think a reborn will be needed for this engine. You’re only expecting to use it two years. Plus with new piston rings and gaskets, fixing other parts might be enough.

    how many miles?

  • @MattsGarage
    @MattsGarage Před 3 lety +3

    Not that my opinion matters but single ball hone, bearings, rings, and take the machine shop $ and spend it on heads.

    • @alpinegarage8548
      @alpinegarage8548  Před 3 lety

      ...as in aftermarket heads? I am tearing down the heads today to check tolerances. If they are trashed I may do that.

      @MattsGarage Před 3 lety

      @@alpinegarage8548 Yes. Had technology has come such a long way since the 90s. I think a mild performance head would give you a very healthy motor without sacrificing drivability. Like a trick flow combo kit with a matched cam.
