Something to add is that you need to think about what your plans for the future are. I begged for ferrets when I was a freshman in high school and finally did get them. The problem is that I then went away for college and was unable to take my ferrets with me which caused a lot of stress. If I could give younger me advice it would be to think more about that.
Thankfully my boyfriend agreed to watch them for me while I'm away so it did turn out ok :)
As a parent of teens and a ferret owner, as I was watching the video, the whole time I was thinking "only older children should have ferrets" and "older children are going to graduate High School during the lifespan of the ferret(s) and you MUST consider what will happen with the ferrets when the child turns 18 and/or moves out... if there's no-plan for post-18 children moving out, there needs to be, or ferrets shouldn't be brought into a home with no plans for their whole life.

OMG my mom is getting me a ferret on Friday and i couldn't she happier she got hers today (she saw them and wanted one which i don't really like because it was impulse but she knew i had done a lot of research so I'm glad i can help) I just wanted to thank you SOOOO SOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOOO much because your videos are so educational, and simple!

Honestly, this video made me cry. I have one ferret and am trying my very best to show my parents I am responsible and will not make them be responsible for my ferret. I really want another one so my ferret won't be lonely. I go to sleep every night afraid my ferret has depression or is lonely. Fortunately, she has so signs of depression and is very active. I pray to God that this video will help me get another ferret. Please pray 🙏!
Avery Morton You should try playing with your ferret more, not trying to make it sad but ferrets can die of loneliness... that doesn’t mean you need 2 ferrets, just play with your ferret more! But getting another can help! (I don’t have a ferret but I did research so tomorrow I’m asking my parents!)
Don’t worry if you pay lots of attention and play with your ferret often your ferret will be healthy and not lonely

strxberry_rose maybe. We are moving into a new house soon so we don’t wanna freak the ferret out by getting it now and having to move from one place to another to another. Once we settle in in a month or 2 we will most likely get one!

moony sky getting from a rescue or responsible breeder is the best options. They are usually the most friendly and healthy there, too.

I'm literally going to write like 5 papers of why I want ferrets and how to take care and more
And then I'm gonna give these papers to my mom to read and try to get a ferret like this
karina xd remember to get atleast 2! and what worked for me is doing chores, m saving up enough money, and showing her pics of ferrets for sale! i ended up getting 2 after doing all this for about a month
All I did was do a few months of research and make a schedule for what I would do per day. For the cons I came up with solves that you could do to get rid of cons. I also started doing extra chores in my house so I looked more responsible. I also told my parents that I would pay for all of the ferrets supplies and the ferret and that they would pay for vaccines and emergencies.
Ya thats what i tried with my rabbits and it worked. Oh also with my hamster. This method is pretty good and it works most of the time. I'm talking about making a daily schedule because it just really shows how much you want the pet and that you took the time to brainstorm a whole schedule. Hope that made sense lol. SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE KIDS IN THE BACK!!! If you can’t fund ferret care yourself, don’t adopt them anyway and hope that your parents will just foot the $1500 emergency vet bill when the time comes. Because it’s not a matter of “IF” with ferrets, it’s “WHEN.”

I have my 2 ferrets, 2 bunnys, 2 rats and a hamster in the same room, i just free roam them seperatly, my hamster and rats get free roamwd 1 hour ( while i get ready for school)i just put a playpen for my hamster in a corner of the room, and my rats get the rest of it ( the playpen has a plastic floor and no lid, but i just put it upside down so the rats dont get to him) my bunnys get free roamed 6-7 hours ( while im in school) and the ferrets get free roamed about 6-7 hours ( when i get home from school until i go to bed) all my cages have lids that i have to lock because my ferrets discoverd how to lift them, luckily i saw them before they got to the hamster👌😬
This helped me so much! I really want a ferret so I did research and made a slideshow to convince my parents! But I wasn’t sure and once I watched this, I had so much to add! I want them to know I know a lot about them so they will consider it! Thank you so much!

Please, please don't downplay the hard parts of having ferrets to try to convince your parents. If you leave out the fact that they will almost certainly have a medical emergency or disease at some point (I paid $500 on adrenal within the first few weeks of having mine) and need checkups/repeated vaccinations you won't know if your parents will be willing to help pay for vet bills. If you don't mention how they have an accident on the carpet every now and then even when litter trained or you might need to put pee pads in the corners of the room for them because they just refuse to be litter trained, which does happen, and your parents aren't able to accept that, they may end up in their cage all the time. They CAN be destructive and not get along with other pets. I had to attach a doormat to my carpet with carpet tape because my girls were tearing up a certain spot digging at it, and I have a chronic ankle biter. Basically, they're going to be living in your parent's house, they're going to have to donate money unless you have a real job, and they can end up suffering if your parents aren't fully aware of the cons that come with these amazing but difficult pets- think of them, you can always wait.

I’m a freshman in high school and I have been watching hundreds of hours of videos about ferrets and I have already picked out everything I will need (food, cage, etc.). I finally got the courage to talk to my mom about it, but she shut it down real quick, even though she won’t have to spend a dime, I will pay for everything. She just doesn’t like the idea of a ferret and I don’t like asking for things but I will not accept her answer. I’m sure I will find a way, I just hope I will soon.
I feel you! I'm a senior in high school currently and when I was an 8th grader going into my freshman year, I discovered ferrets! Back then, however, I was nowhere near financially capable of taking care of myself let alone an exotic pet that's prone to several expensive illnesses/diseases. I had to just wait and do research until I was able to start working towards adopting ferrets. Now, I'm going to graduate next year and I'm staying at home for college. After I save up about $1500 in emergency funds and contact the exotic vets that I've been looking at, I'll be able to finally get my supplies and then my ferrets!!! It's truly been an emotional journey but my advice to you is to continue to be patient and learn as much as you can about them! I've done all my research, done everything in my power, and when i asked my mom why she said she didn't want rodents in her house. THEY AREN'T RODENTS! I told her but she didn't care. So what do I dooooo?

Ask ur mom if the both of u can visit a ferret shelter or a ferret owner, so she can experience the ferrets themselves :)

IF YOUR PARENTS ARENT LETTING YOU GET THEM FOR REASONS THAT ARE UNDERSTANDABLE (for example financial reasons, etc.) THEN DONT PUSH THEM TO BUY THEM AND MAKE THEM FEEL BAD IF THEY DONT. If your parents aren’t just misinformed about ferrets ans they have a real reason why they aren’t allowing you to get one then you should probably listen, hopefully you’ll be able to get a ferret or maybe a couple some day! :)

Please keep in mind, every time you adopt a pet, expect that life to be in your hands for as long as they live. Expect the worst, and be prepared for all of those horrible situations. They won’t all happen, but they can. There’s always that chance.

I'm not looking to get a Ferret but I do indeed love watching your videos about them and learning about them and how to care for them. I actually found your videos from watching Emiology's rat care videos! She also did a video reacting to that family smellybellytv's rat care video and that brought me to your video on the subject but of ferrets! I'm tempted to watch their videos too just for fun. I am thinking of getting rats in the future and have been finding out how to properly care for them. She says a lot of similar things about rats that you do about ferrets, lots of similarities such as: they must be kept in pairs or groups, they mustn't be bathed, it strips their natural oils (which FYI is also the case for humans which is why bathing every day is not good), they must have a space where they can free play and range every day for multiple hours, best not to leave them alone too long, they have more health problems if bought from a petshop (which we used to do when I was a kid in the 90s, as we didn't know any better back then, we do now) and many more!
Maybe you should do a more fun video while making a DIY cardboard castle for your ferrets.

Another thing yiu can do is first ask for something they definitely won't say yes to like ask for a giant dog or a tiger lol or a snake or just something they wont day yes to and then make it sound like you're a little upset but then be happy again and ask "ol if I can't have that then what about a ferret?" And be super happy sounding when you ask them that might help you

Would love to ask you a question if that’s ok. I live in the Canary Islands and here ferrets are breed to hunt, pet shops very rarely sell them and if they do they aren’t used to human interaction and haven’t been neutered or descented. I would love to get a ferret but am abit nervous in getting one from all the people here that breed them to hunt ( would be the only way to get one) do you think adopting a kit from them would make it a lot more difficult to train and be more aggressive or not be posible to have as a pet ? the ferret i want to adopt is a cinnamon ferret from pet-co who was given away by parents away as a punishment because of the childs grades. he was put outside before someone who works at my local shelter saw him and realized he was very human friendly. he still had his collar on and has terrible ear mites and long nails. i want this guy so bad as well as his son, the mom of the son passed during giving birth and the other 2 babies did not make it. these two guys literally went through it all. bear (the cinnamon ferret) is very human and cat friendly as well as litter and bite trained, mickey (the half cinnamon half regular sable) is still a kit (7 months old) but is super smart and litter trained (not fully bite trained yet) my parents are thinking about it and can afford the. what im getting for supplies such as the cage, beds, hammocks, littler boxs, nail clippers, etc its about 500 dollars and mickey and bear are 80 dollars and 100 dollars.

I actually found a really good pet store in my city they have tons of exotic and regular animals and pets I think that they are a good pet store because they don't abuse the animals and they have a lot of animals on free roam. They have dogs cats ferrets rats mice parrots sloths snakes tarantulas lizards geckos and all those type of things. And all the animals seem to be taking well care of they are happy active and friendly. I told my parents I want to get one ferret from that store specifically because pet stores have abused animals. Not only that they had a baby fox at the pet store it wasn't for sale yet but it was on display because the woman wanted to show that she had one but she didn't wanna sell it because it was a baby and she didn't want to have to much stress. We have 3 cats but they usually stay in the laundry room, living room, or my mums or siblings room and I do have a smaller room then everyone else but there is enough room for a ferret
I’ve been trying to get my parents to get me ferrets for a while, but my mum doesnt like animals in cages so I’m convincing her by saying well they spend basically all their life out of their cage and that is true
l have ferrets...5 of them and they SHOULD NOT LIVE IN CAGES How cruel is that? Figure out how to keep them in your home or yard....cages are cruel and unnatural. A room with linoleum or tile floor could be easily divided for ferret space. Outside a concrete pad and lots of playspace would be perfect. Why would you keep these animals in cages? Kind of like having a dog and keeping it in a crate. ALL pets need habitats not crate or cage space. If you can't give the pet living conditions that it needs, then don't adopt that animal. And for teens - what are you going to do if you get a ferret or two and then go away to college or whatever when you;re 18? Your commitment to the animal should be like marriage...till death do you part. And all pets do get old, infirm and die. That is part of the adoption process.

Only reason my mom is against me getting ferrets is because she thinks the smell will be a big problem. And her dog killed one of our cat's yesterday so the ferrets would be in my room a majority of the time.
