Pointer for British people- there may not be many ferret rescues but the RSPCA takes them in so you can rescue from there, just check the nearest branch to you they're everywhere. Adoption fee is £40

I decided to wait until i can a job (14+) to get ferrets so i don't need to depend on my mom for money. I really want the best for animals, to care for them very well and for them to have a great life. I already know alot but not enough. I also want to get them from a rescue.

A harness like those used for cats and a leash are great for ferrets too. My ferrets loved going outside on their harness and leash. Never use a collar---they can get out of those really easily, and the collar can hurt their neck. Also a soft bristle brush for their coat. Mine loved their grooming sessions. Unscented baby wipes are great to have on hand as well. (Jan Griffiths).
I have 4 babies. The surprise purchase was a good meat cleaver. Pork ribs and chicken thighs are bone-in meals that need chopping down to size. Do not chop meat if your animals are loose or nearby. A hand-held steam cleaner is also worth having. Keep steam away from your babies heads.
My mom is considering getting one, so I’m binge watching vids by you. I already have two geckos, so I might not have the ferret in my room.
If your getting one i would recommend getting two as ferrets are very social

See the thing is I might be getting a ferret or two and I’ve been looking ALL OVER the web! And I’ve heard soooo much stuff and have read sooooo much stuff but this is THE ONLY person that I trust because one it sound real and two SHE HAS LIKE 4-5 FERRETS!!! Thank you for all the information about ferrets. I used to have a ferret once and I was heartbroken to find out when I split with my ex he abandoned her. If I would have knew that when I moved I would have took her with me. But now I'm considering to adopt another ferret and your information has been so helpful because I realized even when I was doing my best by our ferret I was still doing a lot of mistakes because of what stores were telling me was the best for my ferret. With your videos I now know that a lot of the information out there is incorrect or out of date for ferrets. Thank you for all you do!

For feeding how do you determine the amount too feed and when too feed etc? This is the only question I’ve had after doing all my raw food research but I can’t seem too find the answer
alice I feed mine as much as they want to eat, usually a large handful. For example, if I buy a bag of frozen beef chunks I’ll grab a handful and put it into smaller bags then put it in the freezer, simple grab a bag when I need put it in the fridge over night until it’s defrosted then put it into a bowl and feed. I feed them around 3 times in winter and 2 times in summer, morning, midday, and night :) hope this helped I was in the same situation as you when I was doing research
I've read around that ferrets will NOT overeat. They only eat as much as they can handle. They will appear to put on a little bit of chub in the winter, especially in colder climates (it's mostly their thicker fur coat coming in). That's not cause for alarm.
A ferret should always have food in there bowl not like a dog where you feed twice a day
Pluto this is completely true a ferret should always have food because they’re eating schedule is kind of lucid they eat when there hungry and you can never tell when there hungry so you should always have food available for them
@Star Dog this is not to be mean or rude either so don't hate on me too! Dog's are a different animal species and so they will gain weight and digest food differently. (this is not to be mean!)

I’m so sad I didn’t find your videos before I got my ferret. I got her three days ago and it’s so difficult learning and educating myself while trying to take care of her, bond w her, train her etc. I’m so mad at myself and disappointed because I always pride myself on being a good animal parent and I feel so bad. It’s so hard not being fully educated on ferrets while raising her because I’m constantly doubting myself and other things. I got her from the pet store I work out because she was surrendered and had been here for about week and I really bonded with her whenever I was on my shift but she is still a kit. Could I email you and ask you a few questions because it’s so hard to find definitive answers about ferrets in my opinion. I keep finding like basic guidelines and answers but I was hoping to talk to an expert or experienced owner to get more specific advice that pertains to my ferret. Also, my ferret is named Momo. Please don’t attack me also under the comments. I’m trying to learn and I do honestly feel so bad about how I didn’t educate myself fully beforehand. I’ve been crying like every night and beat myself up for it. I’m trying my best and I’m asking for help.

Love this video and all the ferret info!! One thing I do have to say - do not use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide in open wounds. They harm good tissue as well as bad tissue. It's better to use clean water or a mild sterile saline solution

Due to pick ferret number 4 🙈 this Saturday, we are rehoming here in the uk you can’t buy them from a shop, we have already bonded one to the business and hoping he will bond too, but if he doesn’t he will have his own big cage to sleep in and then free roam of the front room all day ☺️

The type used for dogs and cats should work fine. I used that type for my ferrets, but they didn't need it much, as they were fed a largely raw diet with bones to gnaw. (Jan Griffiths).

hi! there’s a rescue near me and they are up to date on shots, been fixed, and descented- do I still need to take them to the vet right after adoption? also for a litter box how big are we talking- like a cats litter box? or do they sell ferret boxes? sorry for so many questions!
You can get tiny cat litter boxes for kittens on chewy (these should be small enough for a ferret to use but bigger than the corner litter boxes advertised for ferrets, and if their from a rescue they should have already been checked by a vet and should come with records

We just bought a ferret we only have one he is 6 months old and very hyper and loves to play we bought him from someone rehoming him and they said he was de-scented and neutered already, but they said he doesn't have his shots yet so I have to take him to a vet. I have to have a cage because I have 2 cats!!

I have a question. We plan on getting a baby from a good breeder. How do you introduce a new ferret baby to our 5 year old girl kitty. She is sweet and never violent. She hides. And can the ferret drink out a low water fountain? Or will the baby need their own water dish without moving water? Thank you in advance!
We have a cat water fountain and they love drinking out of it! As far as animal introductions are concerned, take it s l o w . Only continue interactions as long as they aren't showing signs of distress, and never ever leave them together unsupervised.
i have a ferret that my friend gave me they found it in the street we have everything ready but we dont know her ageor any of that stuff but we just need to take her to the vet
I know that you need to let ferrets out for several hours a day, but what would you say is the longest time a ferret could be in a cage? Could they stay in while owners are on a trip, as long as they're given food and water and clean litter, or would that be too long?
Also, do they need bedding of any kind? If so, what would you recommend?

how do you feel about leaving them over night? I stay at my boyfriends house at least 2 times a week. I have other people in my house that would be available to check on the ferret but wanted your thoughts on leaving them and how long is acceptable! thank you, your videos are so helpful with learning everything there is to know !
I've done this before when I pet sat at people's houses for them. I would leave the ferrets overnight alone but my parents would check on them. I was worried sick the whole time! If your area is safe, feel free to try it. Just don't leave them for too long. One of the days I came home to find Pazu with a broken and bloody nail! Safe to say I never agreed to pet sit again LOL

does anyone know if it’s unsafe for them to have a cage that’s been washed with scented spray? the cage i’m going to be using while i’m out of the house has been washed with a spray with a strong lemon scent, since it’s what i use for my rats.
I got really sad because yesterday we went to petco because my brother wanted to see the animals and there was one ferret alone, it was in dead sleep and they believed he was dead but then he finally moved.

I think I want to feed mine kibbles... but I saw that their diet determines if they stink really bad or not or not. So would kibbles do this? Also I would still give them some raw food but not every day
Lil Dish soap you shouldn’t do a mix of raw and kibble, it can mess up the bacteria in their tummies!!
