People who drink and drive deserve to have their ass kicked. There is NO excuse for this and believe me, you'd feel differently if this idiot took the lives of one of your loved ones.
the compassion melted my heart. Drunk driving is absolutely unacceptable but most of us are guilty of poor decision making of not thinking we are as drunk as we actually are. Though not an excuse....no one knows what this man was going through. Poor decisions kill thankfully not in this case. God bless
Sounds like you’re making excuses and saying “we all”. Well I do not drink whatsoever so no we do not “all” but go on and sympathize for criminals some more. I’m only a 22 year old vegetable because of dipshits like this one, and people unwilling to “ruin someone’s life” with a dui yet willing to actually ruin my life by breaking 70 bones at once and needing reconstructive surgery after surgery after surgery and hardly being able to move even when I’m “good”.
@@_ladybugASMR guess you drunk drive yourself? Or have “friends” that do. Sad story. Grow the fuck up. I got no sympathy for those fuckin idiots I’d shoot them all on the spot if I made the laws they don’t care about endangering innocent lives so why should I care about their life.
Sure was. Also they all conducted themselves ALL as gentlemen. No pushing, yelling or belittling the man with any of them. People like them make me pro to be human some days. Well done, well done.
That’s how we usually do it in the south , usually friendly driving. It’s not all the time you get a drunk or ass hole driver out to just make everyone else’s driving experience miserable. Look out for each others safety.
it wasn't though. I'm actually kind of tired of seeing people say this shit on every DUI video because it's making excuses for people's shitty behavior. www.wandtv.com/story/36396990/decatur-man-helps-pull-over-drunk-driver
A Very Nice Guy I was working one day when a minivan turned on the street I was on and plowed into a Celica in front of me, bounced off and hit my work truck and 2 other cars behind me. We were right next to a gas station and after she hit us she pulled into it. We all went up to her and she looked like she was either drunk, on pills or both. We were all berating her and when the cops showed up they were treating it like a dui. I remember she kept pointing to her arm and when a cop looked under her sleeve there was box thing on her upper arm. The cop immediately got her to an ambulance and told us she was diabetic and was having an episode or something. It made me feel like shit because my uncle is diabetic but never knew shit like that happened. So yeah just wanted to share that these things do happen.
I understand that they DO happen but that wasn't the case here... the guy vomited in his car, was literally drinking an alcoholic beverage when they pulled him over, and was charged with DUI... I don't know if people are just trying to show everyone how smart they are, but the fact that so many people are trying to say this is a hypoglycemic episode is annoying because they are making excuses for somebody who is knowingly breaking the law
I think of the lives theses people saved by doing this, all involved are heros, plus no one approached this guy in a hostel way, everyone was calm, awesome job to all involved
It's even more amazing that they did this just by noticing each other's actions and not communicating verbally with each other until he was pulled over
I didn't know that thanks for letting me know, that would have been very bad for that driver particularly on the highway. I do remember some old Motorway Patrol (New Zealand police show) segments with diabetic shock drivers but they were a little different to this one as they were more erratic (or maybe just more disorientated thanks to more roadside objects on an NZ motorway)
Jamie's Autos I pulled over a person going threw diabetic shock like this guys did thinking he was drunk and i was cruel to him before the cops got there and diagnosed it, man did i feel stupid but it's hard for people who don't know about it to think it's anything but a drunk, even cops have a hard time identifying czcams.com/video/OINOfNkbamE/video.html
I would have given my life if someone had done this for my beautiful 20 year old son, Colton. He wasn't drinking, texting or on drugs. He was driving while tired and was killed in a single car accident. Witnesses said he had been swerving, but NO-ONE honked or did anything to snap him out of it. He was too tired to be driving and was falling asleep. He was a full -time EMT, and on the rescue squad and a volunteer fireman. He knew better AND he didn't have his seat belt on! But his friend called and needed a ride to work. Instead of telling him no because he'd been awake all night, he made what he thought was going to be a quick trip. Instead, he's gone and his brother and I are left behind, devastated beyond words. So PLEASE, if you see a car swerving or veering off the road PLEASE try to get their attention and have them pull over.
I’m so sorry, my brother is an EMT, I worry for him all the time when he pulls late nights and then tries to keep pushing himself. I wish something more could’ve been done for your son, I’m so sorry for you and your other son’s loss.
I'm glad you guys did this. My mom is type one diabetic and gets exactly like this before she goes into shock when her blood sugar is low. She's too sick to drive now, but I love knowing people like this may have helped her if anything like this ever happened. All of these guys saved lives. 🖤
I'd like to thank all involved in this situation that help get this man off the road. You are all wonderful. I am so proud of all of you. thank you thank you thank you
Fantastic job by everyone. I really respect the fact that the cameraman considered the possibility that the driver may have been experiencing a medical emergency. As he mentioned, a diabetic emergency can seem similar to into intoxication (I have both witnessed and treated this). Everyone treated him with respect and cleared the vehicle of weapons. Hats off to the good Samaritans.
Jason's Journeys I have personally responded to calls and have reported one where someone appeared to be intoxicated when they were in fact experiencing a medical emergency, usually diabetic (hypoglycemia). The one I reported as a driver turned out to be an elderly man with early signs of dementia. He was all over the road for many miles until he was intercepted peacefully by police, completely sober. Certain mental conditions and medical emergencies can mimic intoxication (mostly epilepsy and diabetes) assuming that everyone driving erratically is drunk could cost a life. Over ten years in the field in multiple settings (rural and metro), saw it all.
yep. i had a seizure a couple years ago and they pulled my license. shit happens all the time. luckily i was not driving at the time and i eventually after about a year and a half got my license back.
Edna Baptist sorry to hear about your episode but thanks for sharing. I called the police about a driver all over the place last week, contemplate uploading the dash cam video. I may still receive a court summons, old lady lady that couldn't keep it in her lane.
I had a miserable life with him because he’s a narcissistic asshole who cold blooded murderer and deserves to be in prison he’s from Pahrump Nevada And has involved innocent people who have died because of him
Michylle's Mind - sorry that happened to you. Drunk in the video oughta have to be 5 yrs clean before he ever gets his DL back! Could've easily killed somebody.
Yep, if already in place, MAYBE he would've not started in the first place or sought help before he almost killed someone. Quit siding with the violator. Typical liberal.... P.S. He could hitch ride with co-workers or ride the bus. It's consequences which fools learn by!
I came across an injured lady in Florida who had fallen heavily off her bike. A dozen people were comforting her and talking. I asked who had called 911. *NOBODY* *HAD.* I called. She got help in about 2 minutes. *NEVER* assume somebody else has called 911.
@Curtis Brown- Okay. 3 minutes at most. I did not time it. A firetruck turned up fast, and first. The station was only 1 mile away. They got a truck ready and OUT of the station ( siren sounds ) while I was still on the 9-11 call. They were close, and they hustled. They also knew it was a simpler ' rescue ' call, not a fire call, before they left. Some fire stations are much faster than others to leave. Many can leave within a minute. The police ? Well, an ambulance also turned up quickly, before the police ever arrived.
I also live in Florida and about 12 years ago I was driving in the country comming back from hunting and there was a car off the road and into the woods. No one was stopping so I did. All the windows where busted and the windshield was spidered and when I got closer there was blood all over the windshield also. There was a drunk lady with open drinks dead in the driver seat and cars just drove on by and I was only one to stop and check. Could've been prevented if someone would've stopped her before she passed out or whatever caused her to fly off the road and into the trees.
It's called the bystander effect. Where ppl don't act on something when they should because they assume someone else will. Was studied after a lady was raped and killed in new york and no one called the police despite her loud screams. The perp even left and we back when no one did anything.
@@Mike12522 It was one of craziest things I've ever seen or came upon. Always good to help never know when you will need help. Do to others how you want done to you is how I was raised.

David Wood honestly I thought the same but at the same time if they had to be this gentle and slow with everyone....that would be so much time. Sigh. But aggression isn't the answer. IM SO CONFUSED ON HOW I FEEL
As someone who is close to many sick alcoholics, I'm extremely touched by not only the actions of these people to stop any potential danger, but also the softness and kindness they treated this man when they got him to pull over. Hopefully whatever consequences (arrest/jail) will help this man to get some help. Bravo to all involved.
Good job guys! You did the perfect thing! Got him off the road, made sure he couldn't go any ware, and you were very respectful and didn't just grab him out of his truck. Wait to go!
They got no awards . . . for such actions, however, they've saved one life . . . potentially more. Just the classic example . . . how ALL OF US, can be a change, with/in the world, around us ! 🍀😘💀
I love seeing strangers banding together and this was only because they are good people not because anything was even asked of them. Blown away by how kind y’all were to him and how you handled everything. Glad to know people like you exist. Lots of love from Texas❤️
Kristina Blocher crazy part is they did a better job than cops would have haha. They should take lessons from average ass good citizens on how to handle a situation calmly without unnecessarily escalating it
InsideOfMyOwnMind they would have a different outlook on this had someone they cared about would have been injured or killed by this idiot, thanks for watching please share this video
InsideOfMyOwnMind Right! It just shows how low people's morals have dropped In This country, no respect for human life. They attack the people that stopped him, and defend the guy drunk driving. What they fail to get is they were saving his life just as much as anyone else. There's dipshits on here talking about he should have shot them all....really .....what in the literal fuck people....how low can you be. I hate knowing I'm living amongst people who think so evil, and yet feel they are the most righteous of all. It's a dangerous mix.
Well lets see, the average car/suburban/truck can fit anywhere from 3-8 people depending on which one you're driving. Worst case scenario both the drunk driver vehicle and the victim's vehicle crash and burn so thats about 3-10 potential dead people (assuming both cars are full) if both cars involved all die. Now If one of those vehicles if full of clowns on their way to a circus then it could be anywhere from 3- 50 potential lives saved so... yeah lots of lives saved. Clown lives matter.
SeleneTheWerewolf by stander effect. People don’t intervene because they believe someone else will, so everyone just sits there watching hoping one is more brave than the rest
It changes your life and has ripples out past where you can see when you do something like this for humanity. I almost cried this man can't even walk and he's driving.
I think this is great teamwork by total strangers. I have a 16-year-old daughter that is driving and I worry about guys just like this being the one that takes her out. Seven years ago I got a DUI and it changed my life. How selfish I was putting other people lives in danger. Good job again
Chris Ulmer yep and u and I probably know someone that does drink and drive. They just don’t get it. I mean who wants jail time. Who wants to kill someone or die. Yeah very stupid decision.
@@rustyshackelford3718 And THAT's how you bury a damn moron with a couple extra pats from the shovel on the dirt, just to make sure it's packed nice and tight.
You must not see a lot of drunks. Being drunk does not mean being angry. This guy was clearly disassociated with anything going on around him, he was so drunk that he couldn't process what was going on around him. He was confused, not angry. It's extremely common. Drunk does not equal angry, drunk can be anything from overly emotional to stupidity to complete disconnection and any combination of the three. All equally common.
I knew someone who got drunk a lot, and sometimes he'd be a raging angry maniac. But sometimes he'd get EXACTLY like this guy. Just kind of blank staring, completely out of it, he'd try to stand up and just get sort of frozen mid-movement and then sit back down... he'd be saying he was fine, but he was just, not there. It's scary.
@tom jackson: Yep I was one of those goofy, happy drunks. lol It was near impossible to get me angry when I was plastered. Of course those days are long behind me. Last time I was drunk was almost 3 years ago.
Nice teamwork folks! I also wanted to add that y'all probably saved his life and the lives of innocent people who could have been killed by his stupid decision to drink and drive. You guys took action instead of just trying to get away from him as fast as possible. Also I want to commend you guys for not treating the drunk driver harshly. Although many will say he deserved to be treated harshly, we have no idea what he was going through and he is a human being. Lots of times in groups of people things can get out of control quickly. Great job.
I know this is a 2 month old comment...but i appreciate what your saying. As an ex opiate abuser and the son of an alcoholic who had 3 duis,I'm grateful kind people exist. My dad going through a harsh abusive divorce from my mother. Also his father passing....allot of people around the world cope with this most legal of drugs.
This guy probably won't remember anything. I had got to a point like that many times before I finally stopped drinking. I would do pretty well until someone pulls out the hard liquor!
So much good on this video. First you assumed something was medically wrong instead of assuming the worst, then you all managed to work together to get him safely off the road and finally you treated him kindly. Bravo, gentlemen, well done
i think once they all saw the gray car pull in front and start slowing him down that they had to help and they had perfect amount of cars to do it = 1 in front - 1 on the side - 1 on the back , pretty professionally done these people watch too much cop chases
I've seen a car flipped over on the main highway in a city of 500,000 people and I asked the dispatcher rif she knew of anyone calling this in yet since I didn't get a good look at it. She said no. I call everything in now.
AWESOME job guys, you saved this mans life and other lives. We need more people in this world like all of you who took action and risked your own lives to help. You my friends are hero's .
Too many people wanna be bystanders in situations like this. I applaud all the men and women that helped pull this guy over so he didn't end up killing someone or himself.
A.J. Rusinek I agree, but the guy who had to “nice”of a vehicle is a cunt for not doing the job. He shoulda passed the 4Runner on the shoulder and put a stop to it. I call him out because they are posting the video. Then the thought,, do you think someone’s called 911? That’s your their fucking job, everyone should call not assume someone else did. My thought on the video are the drunks to drunk to know better and is going to pay the price, the girl in the car is the only hero, the person in the 4Runner and the guy posting are cunts. Grab the keys and don’t be nice
I called 911 once to report a drunk driver who was smashing into cars - turns out that the poor guy was going into shock / having a heartattack while driving. I felt bad.
Englewood Frank21 if they were aggressive he might have been aggressive back. they kept him calm and a cop could deal with him from there and no one got hurt.
Why don't we ever see things like this on the news? The news is full of negative shit. But this would have been a good story, good ordinary citizens who don't know each other working together on the fly to help protect other ordinary citizens including the drunk. No one got pissed and punched him out. They just all cooperated to stop a ticking time bomb. Good on you folks!
Well, we all have the choice to shut off the TV and not give them the ratings they want. For the most part, we could all do much better with far less television in our lives. I haven't had TV in my place for at least 6 years now and I haven't looked back or regretted it.
he’s trying to prevent an altercation, more than half the time if you have to forcibly stop an inebriated person from doing something they want to do rage ensues and that would have only made this situation worse seeing as there aren’t any police around, traffic is backed up leaving police to get there only so fast, and these Samaritans that stopped him don’t know if he is armed or has any weapons in the car so really the best course of action is to assure him everything is alright and obviously he’s fucked up on something so saying it multiple times only makes sense, if right off the bat he knows it’s a lax situation he’s way less likely to react negatively
Also if you look the driver is actually shaking. Watch his right leg. He actually was all shaken up and he looked confused af. And for a lot of people when they finally “come to” or “snap out of it” their first reaction is violence/anger because they don’t know wtf is going on.
Um the drunk guy looked terrified about the situation he was currently in. He was tense but at the same time shaking. If you let the fear fester or if you feed it, he will take off or he'll fight you ( fight or flight) best to have him calm down and the whole situation can be handled lucky without any injuries..
These guys are better then cops!! They deesculated a situation and still have the guy some dignity but protected everyone else . Kudos to them . Cops should take a lesson
If your a diabetic honestly he should have something with you at all times diabetes is nothing to mess with I just wish ppl would be more responsible when they have it that's just me tho
They at least saved that man's life if not someone else's that he could have killed. Most people just ignore this stuff and go around. I am glad these people cared enough not to just go around and assume someone else would handle it. I also like that the man was first worried it was a medical condition... sometimes it really is a medical emergency. At least take the time to make a phone call if you see something like this.
Republican 4U2NV exactly most people would ignore it and keep driving. These people made sure they got this guy off the road. As you said they were concerned about it being a medical emergency.
Republican 4U2NV I wonder when the police got there. With a line of traffic like that behind him, you’d think the highway police would’ve been all over it.
Yes, my beautiful 20 year old son, Colton, was killed in a single car wreck. Witnesses said he had been swerving, but NO-ONE honked or did anything to snap him out of it. I was thinking that too but then I figured if he couldn't drive straight then maybe he couldn't shoot straight either. It is a dangerous gamble but I'm glad this didn't end that way.
Cops could have another option if the government they work under would pay for it. Straps deployed from the front of a cruiser that wrap around the rear wheels of the runaway vehicle so they can't spin. It skids to a complete stop. This would work on any vehicle (maybe not if wheels are too big) if they can get close enough and time it right. I'd like to see someone safely run a high energy motorcycle racer who likes to do 250mph off the road.
OptimisticPessimist you’ll have to slow him down quite a bit because motorcycles will get squirrelly real quick, I agree though they need to find a way to slow down a motorcycle safely.
No doubt. I'm impressed by how calmly the handled things. I'm most cases, it seems the "good Samaritans" just escalate the situation. Kudos to these guys.
That was so very cool how these three folks boxes the driver in and slowly corralled the impaired driver of the road. All of them most likely saved countless lives and / or injury.
Hats off to all those guys who co originated so well to get this guy off the road. So nice of you guys the way you address the issue to the driver. That driver is one lucky guy.
Well, I only said that because it's nice to be proud of our country once in a while. We've taken quite a beating over the last many years. But I would never exclude anybody out there. There are many Russian driving videos where people stop all the time and help each other, and I like those too. I am particularly impressed with Russian history and their VERY heroic efforts during WWII, or what they call The Great Patriotic War. I'm a bit of a history nut. The Russians WON WWII for us. We could not have done it without them, and they literally lost millions and millions of people doing it. I love history, although it's gut wrenching at times. I'm an old man, 72 years old. Best wishes Amicum Productions V2 (don't get me started here, or I'll go on for hours and hours...)

the compassion melted my heart. Drunk driving is absolutely unacceptable but most of us are guilty of poor decision making of not thinking we are as drunk as we actually are. Seriously though, thank you for acknowledging the possibility of a diabetic emergency and not just jumping to drunk assumption.

www.wandtv.com/story/36396990/decatur-man-helps-pull-over-drunk-driver

Benjamin McMahan but it could be 98% intoxicated or maybe 2% its medical related
Jason's Journeys in this case I agree likely intoxication, was complimenting the cameraman for considering a medical emergency.

InsideOfMyOwnMind Right! It just shows how low people's morals have dropped In This country, no respect for human life. They attack the people that stopped him, and defend the guy drunk driving. There's dipshits on here talking about he should have shot them all....really .....what in the literal fuck people....how low can you be. I hate knowing I'm living amongst people who think so evil, and yet feel they are the most righteous of all. It's a dangerous mix.
perrytwinsoutdoor maybe not, some of these people in the comments seem to far gone. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
This gives me a good feeling seeing civilians helping and being a help to the police in this very way. Good job to all those who worked together.

that is the least angry drunk ive ever seen
You must not see a lot of drunks. Being drunk does not mean being angry. This guy was clearly disassociated with anything going on around him, he was so drunk that he couldn't process what was going on around him. He was confused, not angry. It's extremely common. Drunk does not equal angry, drunk can be anything from overly emotional to stupidity to complete disconnection and any combination of the three. All equally common.
Not sure he was just drunk, could be other sedatives or maybe opiates.
It's scary.
What about all the happy drunks out there? In my younger days I used to hang out with a bunch of drunks and none of us were angry drunks.
@tom jackson: Yep I was one of those goofy, happy drunks. lol It was near impossible to get me angry when I was plastered. Of course those days are long behind me. Last time I was drunk was almost 3 years ago.

You guys took action instead of just trying to get away from him as fast as possible. Also I want to commend you guys for not treating the drunk driver harshly. Miranda Myers I Kno it's cringey the people recording are annoying
he’s trying to prevent an altercation, more than half the time if you have to forcibly stop an inebriated person from doing something they want to do rage ensues and that would have only made this situation worse seeing as there aren’t any police around, traffic is backed up leaving police to get there only so fast, and these Samaritans that stopped him don’t know if he is armed or has any weapons in the car so really the best course of action is to assure him everything is alright and obviously he’s fucked up on something so saying it multiple times only makes sense, if right off the bat he knows it’s a lax situation he’s way less likely to react negatively
🤣🤣🤣
Also if you look the driver is actually shaking. Watch his right leg. He actually was all shaken up and he looked confused af. And for a lot of people when they finally “come to” or “snap out of it” their first reaction is violence/anger because they don’t know wtf is going on.
Um the drunk guy looked terrified about the situation he was currently in. He was tense but at the same time shaking. If you let the fear fester or if you feed it, he will take off or he'll fight you ( fight or flight) best to have him calm down and the whole situation can be handled lucky without any injuries..

OptimisticPessimist you think locking up the back wheel of a motorcycle going 250 will be safe?
Not really. It was a secondary thought. Maybe if they figure how to catch up, get him to slow down enough, then do it.
OptimisticPessimist you’ll have to slow him down quite a bit because motorcycles will get squirrelly real quick, I agree though they need to find a way to slow down a motorcycle safely.
Honestly so proud of how these citizens came together to save lives and save that 5 mile traffic backup!
I’m impressed that all three sober drivers coordinated the stop without talking to each other.
This is wonderful. God Bless the hero's that worked with him instead of getting road rage. Angels on the highway!
Ree McLaughlin ik its a blessing🙏🏻🙏🏻
Amen👍

Fuckin' A, The Moeller!
Ree McLaughlin they are only idiots because when is hispanish is diferent he is withe
These are some seriously good people.
Michael Mangold the way they approached the drunk guy was perfect. He could've gotten violent if these nice guys would've gotten crazy.
Three cars full of people who don't know each other, all acting together to save lives. Americans!!!! God bless you all!!!!
I was all for that comment until you wrote "americans" as if this couldn't happen anywhere else.
I couldn't believe the dick semi driver just sped on thru....must have had a load of lobsters and was late or something!
The U.S is also still the only country in history to use atomic weaponry on civilians, killing hundreds of thousands of innocents in an instant. Just a reminder
Fred Ford. I agree - this was very heartwarming.. PS I like Americans
Dude with the beard is a true hero (and life saver). Hat's off to him.
Jacob Hearns lookin like Todd on Gold Rush show😂😂😂
They are all heros
Jacob Hearns... thanks for the compliment, my wife calls me a hero everyday since this video was posted, it was no big deal, anybody could of done what I did but if you insist I'll take credit, you can send a donation to my GO fund page, every little bit helps, thanks guys
That was great of those good samaritans to get him off the road so he didn't have an accident or kill someone need more kind hearted people like that y'all did an awesome job there much respect goes out to them
Very impressive teamwork by complete strangers! There were definite guardian Angel's there. Thank you to all those brave drivers who risked their own safety to take that drunk off the road. You could see his hand shaking while holding the cup. He's obviously an alcoholic who is in desperate need of rehab.
That’s what happens when people actually do something instead of just being another spectator. If they would have just gone on their way that dude could have killed somebody.
@ Turner: Here you go:
Compare this video to the one below. In the comments, almost EVERYONE is criticizing the pickup truck driver for not getting out of the way of the drunk. So many people have a brain that is wired backwards... czcams.com/video/pA7BASFqXIw/video.html

Love it. No one being aggressiveness or using bad language or getting angry with the DUI driver.
They respected him and treated him with some empathy. God bless them.
Wow that dude must have been trashed… it looked like he could barely even stand up to get out of the car. Thank you guys for safely and calmly pulling him off the road!
My dad was hit my a drunk driver, head on, coming the wrong way on the high way. Thanks you guys did great
Ayanna Cash my step dad was as well and can no longer work a physically demanding job. It’s very said because he loved what he did. I’ll never forget the call from my mother. Thankfully he is still here but think of all the families that lost a loved one just because someone wanted to drink and drive?
This was so satisfying.. people like them make me proud to be an american.
So kind even after dealing with all of that frustration they treated the drunk driver with so much respect.
“Make me proud to be American” I understand what you mean but I laughed so hard because that’s sooo stereotypical of an American to say. Find any way to make it sound like america is the best country. I’m still laughing. Your very funny
jocelynn you must be fun at parties.
jocelynn America is the best country IMO.
Bruh lol
Ha, America the best country. Ok 😂🤣 yous obviously never traveled the world to see what's really out there.
Kudos to the camera man, and the other individuals who helped get him off the road. they handled themselves like upstanding, professional, and careful human beings. ❤️ you did good work, perrytwinsoutdoor!
Keeping a old dodge in between the lines is already hard enough I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be hammered
Thumbs 👍🏻 up for the drivers getting him off the road .. there is enough lives lost by drunk drivers
