Just realized that every song on A Day at the Race is a sequel to a song on A Night at the Opera. Bohemian Rhapsody = Somebody to Love (Operatic, large choir, complex, by Freddie) You're My Best Friend = You and I (Sweet songs by John) '39 = Long Away (Space song by Brian, poignant) Sweet Lady = Tie Your Mother Down (Hard rock by Brian) Seaside Rendezvous = Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy (piano based, romantic request to a lover, by Freddie) Death on Two Legs = Tie Your Mother Down (Vicious, angry, Freddie said Brian was trying to outdo in viciousness him on this one.) The Prophet's Song = White Man (Epic, moral warning, ancient sounding melodies) Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon = The Millionaire Waltz (Operetta, vaudeville, by Freddie, piano based.) I'm In Love With My Car = Drowse (Hard rock by Roger) Love of My Life = You Take My Breath Away (Sad, quiet, romantic, piano based, by Freddie. Good Company = Teo Torriate (Instrumentally different, but both by Brian and both with similar nostalgic/ romantic themes and use of non -traditional instruments e.g. ukulele, plastic piano. God Save the Queen is a cover and thus does not count. Isn't is genius?
omg. where did you know that? are you explore it by yourself. I do listen to all Queen albums but didn't realise bout that but since I read your comment and listen back to that song it is true. That two albums related to each other. Thank you so much 🙏
I love the way Freddie sang the line "you suck my blood like a leech". He sang it so aggressively 💀 It's amazing that he *always* sings so emotionally!
The money thing was so very horrible it really really upset Freddie. He was taught from day one to be a good person and do good in the world. This just went against everything he stood for…. Of course he was angry.
Its unbelievable that freddie said he was so shy and unconfident on the piano. He totally rocks it when ever he is playing. But i guess everyone has their insecurities!
Not if you were young back in the 1970s. Their music back then was massively loved. Their albums were mega sellers. But it's nice to see a new generation falling in love with it, just as we did back then.
Don't think so: Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, We will rock You, We are the Champions, Bicycle Race, Don't stop me now... all 70's and famous until today. Just take any one song from the Live Killers Tour, all masterpieces and most of them well known in their day over the radio. Freddie, in his stage alter ego disguise, was a brilliant singer, player and also showman at least by the end of the 70's. Live Killers just swept me away with its power, even without video.

Great live version of this song. Only strange to hear it end like this when you're used to hearing 'Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon' after it like on 'A Night at the Opera'.
I'll never forget the first time I spun this album on my old turntable. Death on Two Legs may be the best 1st track on any album in my collection. What a song!
Wish I'd been born at that time, I'd have LOVED to go to a Queen concert! & I mean back in those days, with Freddie & John still in the band. RIP Freddie.
The song is sung from the heart and directed ,"toward a nasty little man" another master piece from Freddie and the gang. (like the rest of us he is deeply missed).
Great song and saw them for the first time on the US leg of this tour in NYC blew me away this band was pure genius the combination of these 4 brilliant musicians was sheer magic no one came close to Queen live and be
The more I know about this band, the more I love them. Freddie, you're one of those very little ones that will live forever. Thank you so much for everything. And just for the record: this song always makes me tremble to the very core. I love it
WOW. Still miss the man. What a frontman, the greatest in history imo. This is the first time however I heard him miss a note (at 3:35) lol Never ever will this bore me. I love Queen since 1979, when I got Jazz for my (7th ;-) birthday. It's so cool that there's youtube to satisfy my Queenneed :-) next to the things I already have. Thanx for uploading!
This song was written all because of Queen already having three full albums out and Brian and Roger still living at home with mom and dad, John still working a day job and Freddie still working at swap meets and the airport just to pay bills. Until this album made them set for life!
Everyone's all "I like 70's Freddie," "I like 80's Freddie." Well, I LOVE FREDDIE MERCURY. Period. 70's, 80's, 90's. Whatever. Every song he sang, was amazing.
Wow. Always loved this song but never thought to look it up, Queen tearing it up! Listen to that roaring guitar, none other like it, remember folks, that's Dr. May! :)
I saw them in Chicago in 77....Freddie was in solid black then solid white... the black and white harlequin and this was my favorite.... wish I could have seen him in this

I’m always amazed by their genius, and you must be one yourself for figuring that out, thanks!
Wow. Tahnk you
No. Some of those comparisons are reeeeally a stretch.
And of course both album titles are borrowed from The Marx Brothers movies.
'Listen to me lovies' only Freddie can say that and be as manly as he was

sounds like an impersonation of brian johnson
@@deadlyplumjellyproductionsBut this is three years before Johnson joined AC/DC (and the studio version is a couple years older)

Sebastian Pye Why you telling her that? She didnt acting Shy or unconfident Or said she wasnt pretty lol.
Sebastian needs to take some courses of Reading and Comprehension, besides a chill pill. No need to show your nastiness here Sebastian!
Absolutely. Insane piano skills
"Listen to me lovies, listen" ahahaha classic Freddie!
He never did get enough credibility as a pianist. He was very skilled
an absolute beast.

It starts it off too
Thats why Queen got in 1987 the royalties of killer queen.
What a singer, what a pianist-what a brilliant group especially when they get crackin.
So many what😅

Most aggressive sung version of the song, especially that “You suck my blood like a leech”

24-11-1991 - The day the music died. Love you forever Freddie. Long live Queen
malibu64 the music is forevermore darling. These recording carry on him
Admirable voice-crack save at 3:34. Even when he's off-pitch, Freddie Mercury comes back in full force on the very next note like nothing happened!
"undergrowwn schOol boy!"
If you asked Freddie he used to say that his piano skills were lacking! Give me a break! There can be only one! We miss you Freddie!
‘’Listen to me lovies listen’’ I love you Freddie
Roger's "ALRIGHT" at the beginning🤣😍
I adore how Freddie would talk to the crowds! Calling them "lovies" LOL
oh how i love Freddie Mercury
Haha, oh man, Freddie is so sassy. I really love how interactive he is with the crowd. I truly wish I could've seen Queen play live.
Norman Sheffield, the manager who this song is about, died last friday
he had live enough. and happened to create this great song . R.I.P.
Ozan Sahin no lol
Good. He’s burning in hell now.
good riddance.
i'm honestly happy😃
One of my fave Queen songs.
Mercury was WAY underrated as a keyboardist. He was classically trained.
On the piano not singing
What a kick-ass song and performance with incredible 🎸 riffs by Sir May!
you want something softer/quite/heavier? Queen got it all and with amazing quality each!
Brian May! What a sound.
Really amazing intro with piano.

This is the first time I heard Freddie Mercury's speaking voice(in the beginning of the video).
quite charming- one more reason to love Queen
My #1 favorite Queen song. And a damn good performance of it.
And it's really showing that he's putting a TON of effort into it if he was getting out of breath at some parts
Still have my original copy of this from 1975. One of my favorite Queen songs ever
this song is so damn fun to me because I currently feel this way about some people in my life. It's a blessing in royalty
I think the lyrics are so funny, I laugh every time I listen to it. absurd and wonderful, and I feel Freddie is silly and just adorable.
I really love this song
The solo's Brian drives me crazy xD
Queen forever (L)
