  • In this video I show how to hardwire an ESU Lokpilot micro V4 DCC decoder into an N scale Life Like GP20.
This includes how to wire the AUX1 and AUX2 function outputs.
    Used components:
    ESU LokPilot micro V4
1kOhm Resistor at least 0.5W in 1206 housing
    4.7kOhm Resister 0.125W in 0805 housing
    BC547C Transistor

This video was VERY helpful; thank you for it.
I’d previously decided to use a motor-only decoder in my LifeLike GP20, but after watching this I’m ordering a Lokpilot Micro.

This was a nice tutorial, however, it would have be nice to see some close ups of the components used and assembly of the components before the shell went back on.

For the transistor what miliamp/Volt was used for this project?

Hi friend! Can I connect the pins of the chip Loc Pilot 5 micro DCC (6 pins) direct to the pin conector in my locomotive Fleischmann 735507 N scale? I did never be anything like this because I always use a analogical trains. Thanks!!

I just checked and the BR101 model has a NEM651 interface. The six pin Lokpilot 5 is for the NEM651 interface so it should work to plug the decoder directly into the interface if there is enough room in the engine. Just make sure that you plug the decoder in the correct orientation.

Its possible to do the same with other Decoder Brand?

Yes, as long as it physically fits. I've had a Digitrax DZ126 recently, but that's a little too large. The wire colors should be the same on all DCC decoders. It never hurts to double check with the manual though.
