- Watch Vanessa Nakate and Yuval Noah Harari discuss the climate crisis and global inequality, in a conversation moderated by Somini Sengupta.
Originally recorded in November 2021, as part of The New York Times Climate Hub - that coincided with COP26 in Glasgow.
Reporters like this women Somini that are complex to look like they are intellectually super knowledgeable about the climate, are a big problem. In the end, this conversation between Harari and Vanessa as two enlightened minds, turned out to be a complete attempt by her to equate with them, through long "questions", which in fact could be made very simply short. More time for guests. But no: for her the event is much more important than the point of the event. Therefore, even without shame, she asks Vanessa "what she will do after the conference?", as if the conference is "the most important event for climate change" and not her actions, for which she was invited.
@Vullnet Krasniqui - But you´re doing the EXACT SAME thing...
in order for humanity to survive it must go from "story teller animal" to living without lying ". With love...
So, the same corperatcracy that owns all the businesses that have created the problems, is the same corperatcracy that are offering the solutions, while we, the people, are blamed for the problems and are expected to pay for it ???
and are shamed into silence from the wokewashing to keep the masses from pointing this out.
And no government has ever supported those businesses through fascism, right? None made regulations to kill of nuclear tech progress for the past 70 years of environmentalism, leading to 70 more years of ongoing pollution. And the poor want to be rich and are happy to do so by burning stuff for energy.
We face the same storm but we are in different boats
👏👏👏👏Vanessa
״There’s another story, old as time, in which rich countries have sacrificed poor countries for a 150 years”.
We really need to talk about how old time is
So why did you let it happen, your ancestors were not as powerful as we were. Simple game. Don't play this blame game.
Outstanding Yuval. Thank you.
Thanks for sharingbyour knowledge with us Sir..many thanks from Indonesia
try actually investigate climatology and learn the periodic table! It is a load of legislated bollocks for corporate profits at everyone else's expense!
Vanessa you are everything! Wangari would be so proud!
Yuval go to the Joe Rogan podcast!
Nice idea. "Joe !!!"
Gracias. Saludos desde Buenos Aires.
Yuval's optimism in humanity>>>>>
Rip
Vanessa you are the future, well done!
Thank you Team YNH for the hope and encouragement.
It's been a while having seen journalist with intelligent and insightful questions, need more discussions like this across the world for the awareness, it's never too late to start...
not in this instance! They just repeat the rhetoric completely avoiding the real issues!

Excellent Harari math: 2% of global gdp= $1.2 trillion= tax evasion, wasted food, bloated military budgets, not new spending.
Great job
Legenda em português por favor !!!
Funny, since when I watch the youth of today, they seem to love to travel, love to eat, often don't recycle or turn off the lights to take short showers, and they seem to love to consume and buy stuff.
Excelente como sempre Yuval!
I believe history should remember the rising concern with the planet's resources as the birth of Humankind's Global Identity, an extension of the pre-existing Humanity Identity, which evolved from hunter gatherer's Tribal Identity, which evolved from Parenting Identity, which evolved from Self Consciousness.
As the relevant group increased in size, so did the territorial and group protection and care concerns.
Свобода информации не самое главное в жизни, ибо эта свободная информация может нанести вред многим людям. Например детям. Потому свобода информации не может быть высшей ценностью. По прежнему гуманистические ценности самые важные
Prof yuval Noah my question is what do you think in contury like sudan 🇸🇩
Ca va pas être facile...
Of course we are doomed, things will never improve, it is too late now.
I am not optimistic either but hey Man maybe not :)
@@przemwalcz4133 we hope 🤞
Oh, my, didn't expect that from Yuval:
"We just need to drop 2% of the global GDP to prevent a catastrophic climate change".
The guy has never heard about ocean inertia, eh? Completely clueless.
Do historians learn geosciences? It doesn't seem so.
Africa populated the world & induced this human monopoly of planet earth, so please do not minimise your involvement in the problem.
I do agree with your assessment of three percent though & agree with the premise that some will need assistance moving forward into a circular sustainable model.
Onwards & Forwards, Together.
Feminism did start with 50% of them throwing Molotov cocktails, well here in the UK it was the emancipation of the slaves that was more peaceful.
God & the universe are one in the same, & yes, we are a component.
Please remember earth is dynamic, we are not attempting to fix the earth into a static position.
Yes thank you, this is not an anthropocentric issue.
Psalm 2:1-6
21st Century King James Version
2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people devise a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds asunder, and cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure:
6 “Yet have I set My King upon My holy hill of Zion.”
We can see random floods in west India, Canada, Europe, Africa , many countries needs to improve on its own economy and people welfare before climate change concerns show up.....cop26 I think is focusing on fossil fuel control, alternatives, the 1.5:
Enough! It's time that we all take responsibility for what's happening. The Great Drawdown must begin NOW! Reduce your own consumption drastically NOW! Reduce the heat in your house to 16 degrees C (60 F) and heat yourself and not the house; put on layers, wear a hat. read under a warming lamp, etc. Quit buying huge homes and think small. Go vegan or, at least, drastically reduce your meat consumption. Locate local, organic farmers or CSA to buy as much local produce as you can. Buy only second-hand clothing. Stop traveling! Are we all so unconscious that we can't figure out that corporations that pollute get their money from US?
The criterion of success in fixing Climate is the completion of the task in the project for removing the cause of Nature degradation that is GDP economy. In terms of the project managent knowledge base, the project itself doesn't exist only one of 42 documents - its charter or vague vision like "Project Venus" and "TZM". I respect Harari, but even he doesn't understand that. Venessa is just another Greta.
Moderator is not good…
Psalm 14:1
" The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good."
The Host women is like Borat character to me or Bruno on fashion show asking stupid questions like what is bruno, who is bruno when is bruno..she is indian short haired ''sophisticated'' looking okay but.. doesnt say anything.. talks vaguely..Just let Yuval talk please dont let ''sophisticated''or''foreign wierd'' look give people credit.
First to comment...
I didn't enjoy this interview much, in away the host was arrogant , the way she addressed the questions and steared the conversation wasn't efficient
🇺🇳24:10
terrible questions...not listening to the answers anyway..urrrgh
Same boring story...give me money, give me money, give me money. Finance is always squandered and abused. The focus should be on new construction materials, engineers, and building indoor sustainable communities. You dont need billions , you just need to create new models for homes and communities. Rome was not built in a day, and it never would have been built if they waited for a windfall of funding. Just start building, one successful indoor community at a time. Indoor farming may turn out to be the greatest equalizer among nations that ever existed, and it can produce wealth for the countries who master it first.
A very mediocre moderator. Borderline articulate.
