This is the *ONLY* video on CZcams that discusses creating a temporary solution from the ground up! Everyone always stages these videos like a showroom and completely disregards what it's like to live with.

I am about to redo mine for sustainability too, standing desks are a whole new beast! Love this video
Haha just on time, I literally took a break from re-managing the cables on my mechanical desk :)
Perfect timing. I just built my first sit stand desk a few hours ago. Lots of good suggestions here.
Pro tip (from personal experience): Use an under-desk mount for the computer if you don't intend to have it sitting on your desktop. Same for anything that needs to plug into the computer (e.g. a subwoofer). This way, the only cable I have going down and away from the desktop/computer is the power cable to the wall.
This is what I do as well, definitely the way to go. Getting inside your case is a bit more difficult than if it's just on the floor, but I only need to do that maybe 1-2 times per year. And if your case has the front ports at the top of the case, you'll need to take those into account (I mounted my case about 10 cm below the bottom of the desk).
In pretty much all other ways, under-desk mounting is better: shorter cables (less cable-management), less dust inside the case (and easier to clean the floor), your feet aren't hitting the cables, even if they're not amazingly cable-managed, etc.
This is a perfect idea! I honestly had no idea what to do with my subwoofer
@@user-op8fg3ny3j don’t put a sub on a cable imo you’ll get rattling
I did this on my uplift desk. best thing ever
my pc is a little big, i am having trouble trying to find a mount for my pc, its about 11inch wide.
I'd advocate for anyone to adapt from the included monitor leg to a desk-mounted arm
So much more space on the desk and, in my opinion, loads more aesthetic
Some can be wobbly, but some are even wobblier on their own legs
also, you can leave the second "table" on your desk out of this
@@litdav I don't know why people like the second desk thing
It just reminds me of early 00s
@@tomppeli. yup, its design reminds me of the "gamer" products on amazon
@@tomppeli. puts it a more natural angle for some. Also good monitor arms cost more and not everyone has room behind their desk.

I just bought my first sit stand desk earlier this week, so I'll be using these tips as soon as it arrives.
At some point, a company will sell a motorized standing desk with a PC caddy and lift to raise and lower the PC with the desktop, and avoid ugly solutions.
I had one like that at work over twenty years ago, except it was spring assisted and not motorized. They made them in standard desk versions and for corner placement and they cost a small fortune at the time. Price started at about the equivalent of $2000. We bought them used in the aftermath of the Dot-Com bubble in the late 1990's. They were less than a year old and there were so many DOT-com companies that went out of business you could pick them up for close to nothing. I had a corner version that wrapped around me about 120°. Add a ergo keyboard and wrist rest and it was a pretty sweet setup. Still miss the keyboard, it was a joy to use.
The spring assist was adjustable and had no problem supporting a tower, a huge CRT monitor, a printer, speakers and everything else you tend to stack on your desk. You unlocked it with a foot pedal and could move it upp or down with only a finger, so in my opinion it was better than any motorized version I've seen. It adjusted from way to low to be used with an ordinary chair to high enough for someone well over six feet tall.
Like I said these were very expensive when bought new, but the quality was superb. I think the current crop of motorized sit-stand desks are a lot cheaper to make. Not having to support a 80 lbs. CRT screen and a full tower helps keep the price down.
it already exist. At my last work, they had like a stand under the desk that was attached to the desk itself so when it goes up or down, the desktop tower was also moving with the desk.
These are just as important as pc bud videos. Thanks for covering it!
Nice and chill video, with cool ideas for someone that needs to cable manage a temporary setup.
I started labeling my cables two years ago when I did my first setup. Those tags are life savers! Just ordered a new desk and a bunch of accessories, and I will be redoing my setup and cable management next week. I have a new cable management idea I want to try out 😁
Gross $2,199?? The SecretLab Magnus Pro sit/stand desk is half the cost and is more premium. All the cable management is magnetic.
Finally a cable management video 👌
Perfect! I always struggle with creating cable management that doesn't bite me in the ass when I want to unplug something.
Great job!
Ed from TechSource would be proud!!!
As long as your PC is on the floor you cant have an elegant cable management solution for your standing desk, especially with multiple monitors. I resolved it by having a mini ITX pc on my desk so the only cable you need coming down from your desk is the power cable (and ethernet optionally, but I just zip-tied it to the power cable so it looks line a single cable). Biggest benefit of this approach is that your don't put any stress on your cables (besides the power cable) so there is no worries of things getting worn out or unplugging due to the table moving up and down.
Owning a standing desk has made me progressively shrink the size of my computer. It makes life so much easier and looks clean with everything on the desk.
On my sit/stand desk I installed two 1U PDUs which connect to a UPS and plug everything into them. I've still had wall scraping issues and even with velcro zip ties it can be quite a mess sometimes. I've actually been considering recently getting like a net or pouch or something to run along the back and maybe a ton of short extension cables and then putting all that in the pouch so they're easier to manage.
Love cable management but it can become a pain whenever you need to remove or add something
I got a 10 outlet workbench powerstrip from a bigbox home improvement store. The putlets are spaced a few inches apart to allow bulky plugs to not interfere with each other. It also has a 4' cord so it works well with my sit/stand desk.
I then added a little wire rack to hold power bricks and my network switch.
Bro, I literaly managed my cables yesterday, I didn't search anything in the past days about that and suddently I see this in my recommendation.
That's an awesome desk
That Isaac Clarke health meter looking flex conduit has me even more hyped for Callisto Protocol, once the stuttering is fixed for good.
I'm so glad you did this video and gave us some pointers. I also recently purchased a motorized gaming table. I have Spondylosis of the lower back lumbar. which I needed to sit and stand for short periods. My table also came with openings on each side corner to route cable away from the center to the tray underneath. I did my best to bunch up all the cables together and lightly zip ties to hold them together. although I do like some of your ideas (cable spine, labels for what is what, magnetic cable clips) just wish I had found this video before this weekend's special. I would have added this easily to my shopping list. Better late than never. TY
what brand is that chair from ?
Don't buy gaming chairs but ergonomic leather or mesh office chairs kids
you should look at the secretlab desk!
Hey! Could you do an updated video of your setups for everyone on Hardware Canucks? It would be interesting to see what you have chosen based on all the top end components that pass you by ;)
I'm definitely going to pick up that spine... my stand-desk cables are a disaster right now.
Where did you get your chair and do they have more colors?
With this desk and computer I'd definitely suggest getting a UPS for your system. $60-100 can save a couple grand in gear. Great start to finish job of what to expect if you're looking to buy one.
This came out really nice but every setup I have seen always leaves something out which I think its is very important and that is adding a UPS to your setup while also cable managing it. You may lose power only once or it may never happen, but usually if it does happen then its when you cant afford it to do so. Which is what happened to me and now I have a UPS to make sure I never lose data due to a power outage.
What is that keyboard on the keyboard?!
what is the name of the macro attachment you have on your keyboard?
I'd love to see a cable management video where a UPS is involved. I've seen a lot of cable managment videos and all of them try to stuff a surge protector somewhere to power everything nicely, but they never go over how to cable manage when a UPS is involved. Ever since using a UPS I don't think I could go back to not having one. The peace of mind and practicallity of never losing data or progress in a game due to a 1 second brownout or a blackout is inmessurable. Thanks
Maybe an idea that could help with the space between the desk and the shelf is to install a panel to minimize the view of cables in that area. Also I really like the idea of labeling cables.
What chair is this? It looks so good
I want that chair!
Install computer under the desk and put casters bottom of table - then this is at another level :D
Ayyy yooo, did I just saw an Everest macro module?
With this monitor riser, I'm trying to put my PS5 where it won't get on the way while having two monitors with adjustable arms clamped on the end of the desk. Any ideas how to get this to work?
Nice commercial... Thanks!
ITX chads win again. Jk, nice clean up Dmitri.
I have a fairly big wood gaming desk I made myself out of quarter sawn oak. That in itself proved to be a challenge as the desk is exposed on all sides and I wasnt going to start drilling holes in it lol. I think I did a pretty good job though, wish I could post a pic of it.
Pro tip: If you want to make the whole desk easily movable (e.g. for cable work from the back, cleaning etc.), put it on wheels.
Pro pro tip: If you additionally want to move the entire table away from its position without having to worry about cables, have all cables coming out of the main cable sleeve terminate in a small D type stage box next to the desk so you can pull all 1-n plugs within seconds and you’re able to move the table to another room if you want to.
What happened to no double sided stick on fasteners?
What controller is that on the right?
this comes across more as an advert for the table than a vid about cable management
Great video! Now imagine that set up with no cable management and how ugly it would be!!
You should maybe also mention it is better for you devices when the powercables are all extended to the fullest and not bundled up into coils because of inducing extra currant into you devices.
What is this gaming chair you sit on?
I want to know what that non elgato stream deck is.
I'm currently cutting holes in the wall to re route the monitor and power cables but now considering a Gaming Laptop instead, it's a fn war zone I tell ya.
been wondering bout cable management lmao
Damn thanks Chris Pratt!
What is that yellow chair?
Glad to see a decent video. I'm sure Thermaltake paid out of their eyes for it tho. Can't imagine it was fun working with you on the project. Don't forget to take companies you work with out of CC with your email replies!
So just box every cable to see, Got it. 😅
Those are cute pair of socks.
Link for monitor?
5:12 holy that's a fuck ton alot of velcro tape
3 of my devices are EMI sensitive and each uses its own cable. My cable management is mainly to separate cables. LOL
Whats the keyboard
What is that chair??
Buy office chairs not gaming chairs
@@haberdasherrykr8886 wow, that's a mouthful of a brand name.
@@RyneLanders the company's name is "speedrunning backache & retardation Co."
@@haberdasherrykr8886 it's got 2 names? How confusing.
It's the Argent E700 by thermaltake
What's up with the EU plugs?
Maybe a computer shelf mounted to the bottom of you desk is in order.
now do a video like this but with 2 computers and multiple monitors as well as a mixer
best of luck
Cable management part = interesting
TT Desk = overpriced garbage.
What is your keyboard ?🤔
How to properly cable manage: "Is it easy enough to replace when something goes wrong" Thats IT!
What if it's a wooden desk?
Neat, but the back of my monitor and desk does not face a wall. They face the centre of the room.
or you could just buy a Secret Labs desk!
Uh, I though that Dmitry was located in Canada, yet those are European style outlet.
I think I'd be inclined to just run an extension cable through the ceiling, through a length of flexible pvc pipe, and have some cut-outs for routing cables. As for the desk, I'd rather have a height-adjustable monitor mount and a swing-out standing work surface above a non-adjustable sitting-height surface. No worries about the desk wearing out and deciding not to move, and I could build it at home. Nothing touching the floor would be nice.
only one monitor? what's that about?
One GREAT monitor is better than 3 crappy ones
That desk is 2100$ holy fuck
I thought you were Canadian, but I see EU plugs 😅
Hungarian I think.
Checked out the desk because Ive been looking for a while. Kind of hard to justify $2,200 before taxes and shipping. The price made me close the browser so I did not see what kind of warranty and such it may come with but thats a pretty steep price
Have a look at the Secretlab Magnus Pro XL desk now. Better and a lot cheaper.
The secret for me is separation, cables that don’t move need to be zip tied tight to the back( I have a metal cable holder) whole movable cables or cables that get switched out frequently need to have Velcro’s straps used on them so they aren’t rubbing against plastic all the time. Second is simply keep it clean, do NOT wrap your cables around things when you don’t have many zip ties just get more trust me it looks like crap.
Double sided tape... argh!
It always comes undone
No floor
Is someone experiencing deja vu?
Dont get why people want their PC on the desk either. Takes space, more noise and its not like its hard to clean a PC. If you vacuum once a month, maybe bit less, you dont even haft to clean your PC (I can not open mine for 1 year and barely any dust)...At least if you aint got pets or you smoke...
I just…. Cannot place the pc on the ground.
It's "Designed by PORSCHE" so that means they can make it cost as much as a car. 💀
3M dual lock, never use velcro.
$2100 desk and it doesn't come with any cable management? I'd take a tricked out Secret Labs one that is more well thought out and cheaper. And WTF, phone app? For a DESK?
Came for the wallpaper in the thumbnail. Someone please drop a link.
Imagine buying these instead of the Secretlab Magnus PRO
Should have just used a regular desk for this, and not a desk most people don't have
Thats a shame the thing is made by Anker..... they have a lot of cool stuff but its a matter of principle, i will not buy anything from them anymore
aaaaand he puts the PC of the floor -___-
