You and Linus both post a cable management video on the same day. Welcome, to the Twilight Zone.
EXACTLY
was looking for your comment
I was so confused lmao
And DIY did a hide computer in table as well
@@johnbrennan6208 saw that 2 in the same day
everything is clean, organized. when the work starts: starts the mess. you can't say it doesn't happen.
Yup, but at least the cables and all that mess is organized. I love having two deks: one for editing and other for games and testing. Makes things easy to clean.
-D.
"cable management starts behind your desk, ends inside your case" XD
Show us again in 6 months, when those stickies fall off.
Especially the weight of the power bar.
I'd recommend using 3M stickies instead of the no-name brands.. you get what you pay for. And before sticking anything to the desk, wipe the desk with isopropanol / isopropal alcohol first, for a clean stick. When you apply the sticky.. hold for at least 5 seconds with constant pressure so it'll stay. Yes, way too much experience wiring call / inet centers over the years.
Answered my question before I even asked it at the end. Lol
The first items he's showing off (1:38), I bought the same exact looking ones several years ago on ebay. They're still on my desk, not budging at all
WhiteHawk wrong, 3m is quality. What do you think hold the Velcro down, anyways? When applying something it’s all about surface prep, and this separates handy people from idiots. Same deal with ikea furniture. I’m 28 and I’m still using an ikea dresser my dad and I assembled when I was in 6th grade
@rogerwilco99 Isopropanol isn't methanol, it's isopropanol.
Those stickies are horrible. You spend an hour or so under the table to cable managing everything, just to hear them pop of one after the other in the coming week.
Pro tip here. You see how the cable are going from the bureau straight down to his pc. Depending on the length of your cables you could also wire it going down behind the feet of the desk and then straight to the pc. You can do the same for the extension cord. It looks way more clean and I use it myself. Great video tho! Have fun with your cable management :)
I struggle with exactly the same issues - cable management is a pain - thanks for sharing this!
This is the best video , thank you so much Dimitri for making such a helpful video. Stay safe bud.
A real helpful video, thanks Dmitry! Im going to get a new PC table next month and this is exactly what i wanted to learn! Thanks again
This video came at a perfect time, thanks! I hope to cable manage my new setup in the next few weeks.
I keep my PC on a "monitor stand"/"desk organizer" that is perforated and even has a handy dandy drawer. My PC's bottom fans are happy.
I rescently did my desk again and I found that using D Channel cable trunking was a REAL help. Cheap, real easy to install and can hold a massive amount of cables in them.
I also used sticky back ziptie anchors aswell all over the place to try and keep things up and off the floor out of the way. I think it looks ok, not perfect but I think its good enough. If i cant see it it dosnt bug me.
Star-Lord doesn't have a job during the lockdown and he became a Hardware reviewer XD
Nice video though, I found it really helps!
this comment should be on top of the video lol!
Owned PC's for about 10 years now and never cable managed. Watched your video today and now my PC is a lot neater :) great vid thanks for the inspiration and motivation!
Your content is so well done and relaxing to watch. Its also content like this that I enjoy.
Thank you for the video, just brought my setup to my new apartment so the timing couldn’t have been better for this!
This video could not have come at a better time! Now that I not not working from home anymore I can set my desk back up in my office to how I want, and cable management is a nightmare underneath. Thanks for this!
I desperately needed this video. Have a complete mess of cables under the table. Will use some of these ideas.
Thank you so much, just on time when I built my pc. Cool vid :)
Such an amazing video!!! really nice job on the cable management.
Looks great. As someone who uses my desk for actual work, I too keep my PC on the floor. Got a set on copy Mac Pro wheels which gives it ample room breath. Looks pretty cool as well.
Congratulations on unlocking level 1 of cable management! Next challenge: multiple monitors and full array of accessories - on a sit-stand desk 😃
I bought non-height adjustable Bekant frame and the net was much bigger, going almost to edges. But I am in Europe so maybe models differ a bit, or it was newer revision?
As for computer pedestal - why not get board with similar surface finish like your desk, and mount it on casters (like Ikea Rill) or furniture legs? I believe you can get these boards very cheap in hobby markets, they usually keep assortment of waste boards and will cut them to size you need. Apply self-adhesive white edge to match the table. Casters have advantage that you can roll the case around when you need to turn around to plug cables or move a bit to clean dust around it.
ok
Gotta love that Ben sound!! Takes me back to UNCW film studies days!
you are totally right, we gotta find the good balance between design and function!
Great job. Two of my PCs are in my shop and don't get seen much, so I'll worry about those at a later time. As for the other three in the house, I'll be using your technique for those. Thanks for the great video.
Only Dmitry and the team at HC could make a video about wire management and make it seem so artistic and elegant.
Good video, it did make the area neat. Pretty sure the double-sided tape on the power strip will fail, potentially causing something to get powered off (like an external hard drive). Would suggest just using small mount screws or at least wiping the area where you are applying the double-sided tape with some rubbing alcohol first.
Great video. Thank you for posting. I wish my setup had as few cables as yours. 3 monitors, several usb hubs and hard drive caddys, a UPS and more makes making my setup look neat, a serious chore. Some of your ideas in this video will help my next attempt!
this popped up in my reccomended and thank god I needed this
Oh great, now I have to go and re-evaluate my cable management! Thanks Dimitry!!!
You're welcome lol ☺️
-D.
very useful video, thanks to share this with us!
Top tip, use one of those tiny cable clips for your mouse cable! I used to have one on the back of my desk and clipped my mouse cable in there, this helped a ton since the excess cable wouldn't hang behind the desk and catch on the desk as I flick the mouse... Now I have it clipped onto the back of my pc which I find ever better 😀
Thank you for this, really good vid
Very informative 👍 And I like the colour of your video soooo much!
Your cable management makes me feel good, unlike some crazy builds you see. :)
This is on my do to list this weekend
Great job on the cable management sir!!!
Good work, mate. You gave me the hope that I will achieve this kind of cleanliness, because I already own a lot of bullshit cable management accessories bought on Aliexpress, but never got the courage / mood to fix them
The setup is so beautiful 😍😍
Looks great!
Great stuff, thanks!
Okay gotta say, I liked a subbed just for the random cuts in the intro. I loved it
This was helpful, thanks bro
Great video, Dmitri!
I used the velcro ties to do mine and it looks so much better. Still a tad bulky but may invest in the velcro sleeve later on for all the display, power, and USB cables, but for now they're all velcro'ed together with just the ends loose to plug into the various ports on the motherboard.
I love this man
I hate dusting all those dang cables and cords. That's why I make it all tidy. Huge time saver, so this is a great video!
Great guide!! Will be doing this, just hope I can find similar cable management stuff in Australia.
Your setup looks great now!
your thumbnails are spot on!
I finished my brand new _and first_ gaming rig (fan LEDs cables still to figure out) a couple of days ago and I was just thinking about redoing all that shitty spiderweb of cables I had for the longest time, I literally just looked at those cable ties on Amazon, this was very welcome!
I not long ago cable managed my desk, and i used cable trunks. It took me roughly 2-3hrs but I'm very happy with the outcome. And i recently brought a monitor stand for my PC tower, as i had mine on carpet, holds it just fine.
Very nice!!
that's a good start Dmitri
thanks for the tips HC
Really helpful 👍
Good advices, thank you, but be aware: the power strip has to be explicitly for upsidedown installation (like ones on server racks)
I simply set up two Ikea signum racks and used a few well-placed velcro-ties. Clean as hell.
Looks Awesome...
Great job
I recently did the same on my setup and it can be chore but it's worth it when you see the results. I find looking at cluttered wires stressful 🤣
literally just got a desk lmao this helps
thanks for ur guide n tips..hi from malaysia
Command hooks are what I like to use. They even make cable specific hooks. Maybe not the cheapest solution but they work fantastically
We use all of those same components, just larger versions when we do cables management on Datacenter racks. We've had as many as 280 network cables going from servers to the top of rack switches, those velcro cable ties are definitely worth their weight in gold.
Absolutely, never go with plastic cable ties if you can help it. They could pinch your cables, need to be cut to be adjusted and aren't easily recycled.
i just pulled the rings out of some old ring binders, screwed them to the bottom of my desk and ran the cables through them, job done
Wait a minute........
Why is everyone uploading "No Cable" or "Clean Cable" videos?
Honestly no idea. Made this video two weeks ago, uploading now because of our schedule. This time its just a CZcams coincidence 😂
-D.
@@HardwareCanucks Canadian tech hive mind low key confirmed.
Came to this video specifically for this question. Doesn't seem to be a sponsor situation like when all the tech youtubers went to Microcenter. And two of the videos required a fair amount of work and planning so neither could have been a response to the other to grab views. (Even here, it's not just a a quick 20 minute talk at a camera). For now I'll trust Dmitry that it's just a coincidence between them :)
when you ran out of things to review and have too much time on your hand.
Dude I noticed it too! From Linus Tech Tips down to other small creators are making these types of videos in late August and early September of 2020! I guess is this work-from-home trend that's going on with everyone.
Binder Clips Are The Best !!!
I SWEAR THE SECOND I THINK ABOUT SOMETHING A NEW VIDEO ABOUT IT POPS UP THIS IS CRAZY
I love your mousepad, omg.
so good :D
The fastest way to clear your cable mess is to create a backdrop behind your desk with 2 large acylic panels (or any other material panel of your choice). You can also just use 1 panel, but I like two because you can create a spacer between the two panels and just throw your cable through them - and it allows the whole structure to stand on its own. It's basically like routing cables into a drywall, but without actually hacking your wall. Nothing to tie down, just throw everything behind your self-made "wall".
yea
I bought an ikea desk which cyou can put higher or lower by a button (just like in office). It has a net which hold the cable and adapter for it and i put in all cables neatly of my desktop as well. Clean AF.
RE pedestal for PC on floor: Cut a piece of plywood to the size of the bottom of the case, and attached wheels under it. Put the PC on the cart, attach the cables when it is out in front of the desk, and then push it back under the desk. You can rig the slack in the cables to hang from the under side of the desk, where it will be hidden until you pull the PC and cart out in front of the desk to work on.
great intro guide
Dimitri read my mind, I was thinking to do something sweat around my new Corsair one, thank you mind reader :-D
haha i just bought a new desk and was looking at the cheapest way to cable manage well, then 1 hour later you release this video lul
Try underdesk mount if the PC is not extremely large, as well I find it useful to use the sticky pads and ziptie a reusable Velcro strip to it, now you get a re-wrap-able tie point
I need that desktop wallpaper of horizon :D
Found it online but it was with the horizon logo on top of it
Im literally just taking a break from cable managing my new desk ahah!
Finally someone who doesn't cable route through walls.
for the pc you can use a normal square shelf and use some cabinet stands to lift off the floor and its pretty cheap to do.
Can you only get the cable management net from ikea or is there some other way i could just buy it separately
So glad you are talking about this topic.
Btw Ed from Tech Source is also great at Cable Management.
Too bad he's a cringy, edgy man-child who also didn't bother to actually send stuff he was giving away and made-up a robbery to boost his shit channel.
@@czarkowskipawelyt he didnt robbed his own place. Isnt that a bit too much harsh words for someone ? I understand that everyone have their own perspective, but this is crossing the line.
Hey Dmitry! What keyboard are you using and what is that USB accessory at 4:55?
that mousepad is clean!
What monitor do you use on you gaming setup I'm trying to build an editing and gaining setup (in playing csgo on a high level and quake so I need 114hz)
Cable management is always a bit of a hassle but once it’s done the effort pays off :D
What desk makers should do is to include a HIDDEN (low profile) compartment at the BACK of the desk, where you can simply route ALL cables into it and store a power strip inside it, without having to stick things all over the back of your desk.
Make a video
yea
Hey I have a few video ideas you might like. Ergonomic vs Gaming chairs and some of the best desk for setups
Can I know what lamp does him used at the background with rgb light
Make a 2022 version, I'd love to see if anything has delevoped on this front ❤️
Woven split-loom changed my setup forever
3M adhesive requires a cure time prior to actually using it. Did multiple things, I went from hardly hanging a cable using 3M mount on my ceiling to being able to hold my whole VR headset, and a pinata (full of candy and being hit). On my door, I have a lock using 3M arms, and letting it cure is the difference between my cat being able to open the door, and just hanging on the handle.
A lot of little things that could be done to make it look even cleaner, the velcro tie on your monitor should be higher to only show the cable going down, which could be routed behind the stand. The cables on the edge under the desk should be held back from sight, the mouse could use a single 3M clip after the holder to get rid of the cable bend sticking up.
@Hardware Canucks
can you big pretty please! review the new Logitech G733 headset. I love your reviews they are the best. Thank you!
Dimitry have almost the exact same set up as mind - same-ish monitor, even same-ish headphone. My solution is to just go wireless keyboard. It's incredible how missing just one more cable making the rest so much more manageable. And rater than tape, I just some old hard cable and tie everything up with them.
Hardware Canucks, Do you have a link where you bought or at least similar to your power strip with mesh that was show at 3:47?
Спасибо за подробный рассказ)
i recently took care of this... my comptuer , monitor and speakers are standing on a window sill... below is the desk.... i had to cut a hole through the window sill + the desk table... then i added a wooden L angel below the top desk plate to hide the usb c hub and the cables... best solution i had in 30 years LOL
been looking to cable manage more i really want to setup my setup more, yesterday i switched my RAM to vengeance RGB PRO and last week i switched to a nice wooden desk that has a metal thing come down so ill put all my cables on the back so if u look under my desk you wont see a thing, i just have to get new LEDS, maybe get some LED fans for my PC and get some clear double sided tape lol
What are those Lights in the backround on his desk i want them sooo bad
what if u are like goping on lan what do u do with the cables ?
