In multiplayer a good strat with chariots is to tie down all enemy units that have missiles, even sacrifice your own troops so that they can fire missiles. Once most of the enemy units with missiles, including pila, are engaged drag the chariots all over the enemy troops. At that momento it will be a race against time, as you have sacrificed some units and the enemy will be routing due to losses from the chartiots and attack in the rear penalties from chariots disrupting their formation.
@@Bubinni BTW when using a mass line of Melee infantry units locked in formation, what happens when you click, move & Sprint behind the enemy? Because when engaging in melee combat sending units to fight one-by-one is a hassle
Damn bro imma have to get back to my Seleucid campaign. I have the parabellum unit mod, and one mod that triples unit sizes, so each battle looks straight outta some high budget blockbuster
That sounds awesome! I usually run double garrison's mod to increase the number of units defending cities when I attack because I love to see the massive battles.
light chariots are actually way better (in my humble opinion) as they are cheaper and therefore more expandable while still being able to rack up insane kill counts
If you have Empire Divided DLC you can recruit them with Palmyre which is an oriental usurper roman faction. Their units are legionnaries but with an oriental style to them. They field heavy chariots. Besides they can also recruit auxiliaries from various regions with several chariots units among them.
I dont think Rome can get aux-chariots in Grand Campaign. However, either Imperator Augustus or Empire Divided, I know either Octavians Rome/Standard Rome faction can recruit aux-elephants.
That works as well but in Rome 2 you get a faster, more impactful charge if you give an attack order. Only problem is the chariots wont move once theyve passed through the unit. So thats when you use the move order spam to get them to keep moving. Occasional attack orders will give them a sort of "speed boost" because of the charge.
Are those chariots working the same way as in warhammer1/2/'3? (Rightclick on units near the units you are actually charging on to make them use the charge animation? Real question though, why use chariots instead of horseman. Don’t the chariots just provide risk on tipping over, sludging through mud, or interfereing with mobility? IRL warfare not the game
I think scythed chariots were used mainly to inflict fear and maiming of the enemy. Cause killing someone just takes 1 guy out of the fight. But if you maim someone, it takes them out along with any personnel and supplies needed to treat them. Plus, watching a chariot slice the legs off your comrades has to be a morale shock.
@@grantwalter2243 For the chariot? If things didnt look great for them theyre dead. Chariots have a wide turn radius and will get stuck in mud or other bad weather conditions. Like I said, they're probably used more for the morale shock and as a platform for archers. Other than that, horsemen were probably better and more maneuverable. But at this time, horses were not as common as they became later on and not many people knew how to properly ride horses.
The other issue was that the horses in the Levant and Anatolia back in the Bronze Age (when chariots were most popular) weren’t as big as the horses today and so couldn’t support an individual with full battle gear riding them. Thus they used chariots. This changed though when Steppe horses got introduced as I believe they were larger and could hold a man’s weight along with his gear, mind you it was still hard to ride a horse as there was no saddle or stirrup, just a blanket across the horses back. As time went on the chariot became a mostly symbolic thing and horsemen became the mainstay due to their higher maneuverability and versatility. There was a nice video on CZcams somewhere if you were interested, I can’t remember the name though
@@RainbowLizardRacing flattening hundreds of troops quickly. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy cavalry as much as the next guy but chariots are ultimate cheese against full infantry armies. You cant just run through units with cav the way chariots can. Even camel cataphracts can't do it.

The key is move orders. I find if I make an attack order sometimes they get pinned on whatever unit they're next to
Sometimes an attack order here or there can get them to "boost" forward through whatever they're next to.

Aren't chariots a bit too microintensive tho? I get at first with smaller battles, but when you are up against 3 or 4 stacks are they really worth it?
If you use them right, each chariot can get 500+ kills. It just depends on the scenario you throw them into.
Thank you so much

Crazy how much Rome 2 chariots look better than the ones in Pharaoh
I have no clue about Rome 2s compat i just spam sword units and spear trowers and somehow win
CA should've update Chariots by not halting suddenly after clash.

Can you recruit chariots as Rome or must you play another faction. I know in Rome 1 you had to play as egypt
Rome doesn't get chariots. I know that Masaesyli, Iceni, Kush, Egypt, Nabataea, Seleucid, and Baktria get them though. Might be missing a few.

1 rule of using chariots in games where is normal cavalry:
Don't use chariots, instead use your normal, more superior in quality and quantity Cavalry.
