- Every year, British bomb disposal personnel are called out to deal with more than 2,500 incidents on land across the UK. They learn how to do this at a specialist school in Oxfordshire called DEMS, the Defence EOD, Munitions and Search Training Regiment. Ahead of Armed Forces Day 2018, Forces News has been one of the most dangerous jobs in the military.
Watch our exclusive LIVE coverage of Armed Forces Day in Llandudno this Saturday from 11am (BST) only on Forces TV (Sky 450, Freeview 96, Virgin 277) and on www.forces.net.

It reminds me of the film "Juggernaut (1974), in which Lt Cdr Fallon (Richard Harris) loses a few of his men in the course of disposing powerful bombs set up in a transatlantic passenger liner. This is one job that should command unconditional respect.
Remember folks - if you get it wrong, Its not your problem anymore.
Thank you! Lots of Love
Have to have the greatest respect for these brave men and women. Wishing them all the best for their future work in helping to keep everyone safe.
Thanks for ure service 🇬🇧
Brave men, stay safe
The bravest of the brave!
Having gone through St George Barracks. MOD Bicester on 804, this only scratches on the civilian call outs you get every day that builds your knowledge. After training. I don’t think people understand how often UK bomb disposal call outs happen
Wish the Royal Marines had an ATO school as well. It's the specialization I want.
It's a Defence school , DEMSS so open to everyone including Royal Marines who I know have done many courses there .
Once had the privilege of working with Peter Gurney. Absolute legend.
Very brave men and women. It takes a certain size of gonad to remain cool calm and collected under such pressure. Humongous!
0:48 I remember my school was closed because of that ww2 bomb
Instinct tells me, these men will be very very busy in the not to distant future, and not so far away.
an women
@@peterbowman7499 nice name
not really man :/ didn't seem the case
I saw one once with like a briefcase and it shoots up a jet stream of water to defuse a bomb for example underneath a car to disable it, another one like a firework to melt down the head of a landmine, yet I think we need to understand their are responsibilities we all have to stay safe.
For close up work why not create a heavy duty portable shield with slits in for an operator to work through ?
Now I’ve seen the tech use handbrake technique in would put a switch on grab handle. Don’t think you should have showed that.
Real heros, best of the best.
RSP render safe prccedure . been training here in 2002
CAD Kineton, Temple Herdewyke
0:43 so whats the story there...
My heroes and very funny men with a crazy sense of humour
Ok
There was a young man from chichester
When asked if a cakes a molester
Disposal of bombs
Or minefield atoms
Answered that very strange man from Chichester
Lvl 3 helmet
They should put their skills to the test and remove as many Argie landmines from the Falklands.
Pointless. Most of them are deep enough where alot of pressure is needed to set them off.
waste of time and resources
They also act as a good way to preserve some of the penguin habitats. They don't threaten the penguins, but no sensible human goes there. Not a preservation technique you'd want to create from scratch, but as the Argentinians went to trouble of planting them, why not?
KhakiCapitalist what do you think they have been doing down there for the last 36 years?
theo tryhard I’m sure duck tape is no problem
I cannot see any women personnel here... Are women denied on purpose or are not up to scratch? What is the reason?
All roles are open to women maybe none about?
There are women IEDD and BD Officers or have been . RLC and RE , even some have been killed in operational theatre.
Have a look at 4m 22s - a woman is helping the No 1 put on his helmet, I’d guess she’s in the No2 role
does it really matter when there's an explosive device that could kill you and others?
