It might not be their most brilliant song, but there's something about this song, because I can play it over, and over, and over, and literally over again...and not get sick of it! And each time it still hypes me up exactly the same way it did when I first saw the much anticipated video back in 1997, a whole decade ago!
i was 15... and i get that same feeling... my life's changed forever!!! this is a hymn, another "urban hymn" from 1997... musical glory (in this take): 4m:37s... cheers!!!
I love this track! Especially the drumming, as the drum loop on it, is taken from NWA's Straight Outta Compton, which in my opinion is the best hip hop track ever! Liam is also on top form here! One of the best live performance of this song!!!
Really?? I think Alan was probably their worst drummer, personally. I know people don't particularly think about the drums when listening to Oasis, but I think Zak was probably the best, because he had the stylistic versatility, but also the raw POWER. Then Tony, because while he did have some well-documented 'clumsiness' on the kit, he had the aforementioned power and a raw, clattering punk energy to his playing. Alan could play different styles, but it was always very prim and proper and...faceless.
I was more referring to the various live versions, but yeah. I will agree that Liam is getting better. I'm probably going to the UK next summer to see them live at Wembley.
you're partially right; nowadays, noel plays it with a capo on the third (or the ryan adams version). but the album version is actually on the second fret (i have the official tab, and its on tab websites too). Youre right about the playing a step down though. Liams voice has gotten better this year (as opposed to recent years), so they are back up to 2nd fret on wonderwall.
yea 2002 was the last time liam sang any of the songs that put too much strain on his vocal chords. now he wouldnt even bother trying to sing them. those songs are - d'you know what i mean? - some might say - cast no shadow - stop crying your heart out - gas panic - dont go away
Wow, I didn't think they played much BHN stuff past like...'98, given that Noel fairly quickly joined the general critical consensus that it was an overblown, dynamic-less 'mistake'. Some genuinely great tunes on it, though...I really wish he had seen through remixing the entire album as he did with this tune in '16
Nope! Setlist is on my channel, but nothing from this album, which I love by the way! Too bad Noel thinks it's rubbish! :-( This is one of my fave Oasis tunes!!!
Wonderwall actually has a capo on the 3rd fret. Just throwing that out there. Sometimes Noel plays it a half step down depending on how whomever is singing's (him or Liam)voice is feeling. I assume that is the case here as well. Capo on 1 instead of 2. =]
dead on. the gig at the city of manchester stadium in 2005, his voice was brill but the band was so loud he had to shout in some of the songs just to be heard which was a shame cos his vocals were so good when he didnt have to do that
I always find it odd that Oasis will still occaionally bust out stuff like this in Japanese gigs, yet as soon as they come back to the UK, it's gone from the set. At least they are playing "My Big Mouth" on the current UK tour dates, it got a good reaction at the show I saw. Be Here now is not the huge disaster some would have you believe, it's just overproduced, and some songs needed more work.
Be Here Now is one of the best albums easily, just a bit over produced. Look up the bbc version of It's getting better man at Air studios. That's the way the whole album should have been done. Love it anyway, I played that album all summer non stop!
they need to play this on the new tour liam needs to come out for the encore scream r ya madferit .. then play this song would prolly be the best encore they have ever done or will ever do
i'd say he has the best rock and roll voice in the world, and probably was the greatest vocalist in the world between 1994-2000 period. liam's got the best voce, but noels a better singer
@gr8dad No its not you ...He ALWAYS sings like that ...the only time I have ever seen him not was only for a second or two and the only reason was he was playing the tamborine ....usually he stops and puts his hands back behind him when he starts singing again but that one time he played the tamborine a few secs longer while singing ...if I can find the video Im talking about Ill link it to ya
they did a full set: hindu times, hung in a abad place, force of nature, little by little, better man, whatever, some might say, my generation. i think thats all.
@dagiff well they is no more ...they broke up ...which sucks ...Noel said fuck that shit ..and we all know that Noel was the heart and soul of the band ...but Liam and the other remaining members have a new band called Beady Eye ...Ive only heard one song ...but it sounds pretty good ...not as good as Oasis but still not too shaby ...
It might not be their most brilliant song, but there's something about this song, because I can play it over, and over, and over, and literally over again...and not get sick of it! And each time it still hypes me up exactly the same way it did when I first saw the much anticipated video back in 1997, a whole decade ago!
LylaRox, Same as man!!! When the video came out on MTV that geezer played it (I think) 2/3 times in a row!?
Be Here Now is a bomb of an album! Be proud of it Noel!
the voice he had in 2002 sounds perfect for this song, best performance ever
I can't get over the simplicity of Noel's solos, and yet how AWESOME they are
Brilliant performance!
I love this guitar solo!
Gem and noel together are legends! liam has done stop crying your heart out he did in it 2009.
this is the best performance of d'you know what i mean
greatest band of the world
Wow great song awesome singer and band awesome live performance wow thanks for this amazing video
i was 15... and i get that same feeling... my life's changed forever!!! this is a hymn, another "urban hymn" from 1997... musical glory (in this take): 4m:37s... cheers!!!
the best version on the web!
with the old numbers they still get me............love them in their good old times
The best song ever..!!!!
AWESOMEE PERFOMANCE.. Drum sound is fucking cool.. all the band sound greaat !!
so quality when they played this at the city of manchester stadium. I was a bit pissed, a bit high, and I really fuckin knew what he meant!!
Never played this at the city of Manchester Stadium.
I think this song has a great message and definitely should've been sung more often. I just love the chorus.
def the best version live. awesome song
fantastic
great song..
thanks for the send
I love this track! Especially the drumming, as the drum loop on it, is taken from NWA's Straight Outta Compton, which in my opinion is the best hip hop track ever! Liam is also on top form here! One of the best live performance of this song!!!
Good stuff bro!!!
Best Oasis' line-up...'nuff said...
Really?? I think Alan was probably their worst drummer, personally. I know people don't particularly think about the drums when listening to Oasis, but I think Zak was probably the best, because he had the stylistic versatility, but also the raw POWER. Then Tony, because while he did have some well-documented 'clumsiness' on the kit, he had the aforementioned power and a raw, clattering punk energy to his playing. epic performance, these were the days...
Sounds like Go Let It Out at the beginning, brilliant.
this song with all around the world my big mouth be here now and stand by me are the best song of the album be here now !
BIG BAND IN THE WORLD
I was 13 too in 1997!!!! :)
Liam's voice is just great in that video... proper singing
his voice sounds amazing here :)
I was more referring to the various live versions, but yeah. I will agree that Liam is getting better. I'm probably going to the UK next summer to see them live at Wembley.
The best singer in the fucking world, ever.
4:30 one of the best solos ever !
"the questions are the answers you might neeeeed"
wow!
look @ Liam's face at the he is happy with his voice
i do too!
they should play this song more live
you're partially right; nowadays, noel plays it with a capo on the third (or the ryan adams version). but the album version is actually on the second fret (i have the official tab, and its on tab websites too). Youre right about the playing a step down though. Liams voice has gotten better this year (as opposed to recent years), so they are back up to 2nd fret on wonderwall.
wow... this version kicks ass
Very good observation. He sounds great here and he's not straining at all.
Your spot on, wish they wud play its gettin better man live, fuckin love that tune
yea 2002 was the last time liam sang any of the songs that put too much strain on his vocal chords. now he wouldnt even bother trying to sing them. those songs are
- d'you know what i mean?
- some might say
- cast no shadow
- stop crying your heart out
- gas panic
- dont go away
i couldn't have said it better
1:07 love it
Ah you're right mate! I didn't see the capo in the video. And i just looked up the tab and its normally on the second fret (same as wonderwall).
Wow, I didn't think they played much BHN stuff past like...'98, given that Noel fairly quickly joined the general critical consensus that it was an overblown, dynamic-less 'mistake'. Some genuinely great tunes on it, though...I really wish he had seen through remixing the entire album as he did with this tune in '16
324 know exactly what they mean. Oasis is the best fucking band in the world and no-one's gonna tell me otherwise!!!!
They should do this again on the next tour
I know they won't, but they should
Nope! Setlist is on my channel, but nothing from this album, which I love by the way! Too bad Noel thinks it's rubbish! :-( This is one of my fave Oasis tunes!!!
Fucking great!!! love OASIS
i want itttttttttttttttttttttttt!!
pretty please!
4.30 ... el mejor solo de oasis
i do!
I'm really like Whitey's Rogers Dynasonic snare sound from 2002 Heathen Chemistry tour, Sound really cool for me
@theenigmajjames Technically he's a guitarist..played rhythm/lead guitar for Ride and Hurricane #1 before joining Oasis in 2000
@sparco1979 totally agreed its easily their best album
Wonderwall actually has a capo on the 3rd fret. Just throwing that out there. Sometimes Noel plays it a half step down depending on how whomever is singing's (him or Liam)voice is feeling. I assume that is the case here as well. Capo on 1 instead of 2. =]
dead on. the gig at the city of manchester stadium in 2005, his voice was brill but the band was so loud he had to shout in some of the songs just to be heard which was a shame cos his vocals were so good when he didnt have to do that
Aneal, Yeah you're right they should of turned his mic up!!! Classic gig though!!!!
That's "BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD"
I always find it odd that Oasis will still occaionally bust out stuff like this in Japanese gigs, yet as soon as they come back to the UK, it's gone from the set. At least they are playing "My Big Mouth" on the current UK tour dates, it got a good reaction at the show I saw. Be Here now is not the huge disaster some would have you believe, it's just overproduced, and some songs needed more work.
it's got the same opening chords as wonderwall.
Fuckin classic tune. they dont play it enough live
They should do Be Here Now as an opera like Tommy! Fuckin class! "wash yer face in the morning sun!"
this sounds mega live.
you're right. the chord sequence is only slightly different.. but why complain? both are fucking rocking songs
Alan in the drums..!! The sound is so great?
nah. his voice on the 2008 tour was his best form since 2000...but NOWHERE near the 90s voice haha
Be Here Now is one of the best albums easily, just a bit over produced. Look up the bbc version of It's getting better man at Air studios. That's the way the whole album should have been done. Love it anyway, I played that album all summer non stop!
they need to play this on the new tour
liam needs to come out for the encore
scream r ya madferit ..
then play this song
would prolly be the best encore they have ever done or will ever do
gems good here
i'd say he has the best rock and roll voice in the world, and probably was the greatest vocalist in the world between 1994-2000 period. liam's got the best voce, but noels a better singer
its is so killer in the lower key
there is a capo on the first fret
Very good but this version is a little bit softer than the earlier ones
Sounds better with the Capo on the 1st fret
ye ye. it is a hip hop beat, and noel put it to another good cause :)
peace
oasis can't be compared with any other band
P.S. Does anyone have what they think is the "definitive" live performance of this??
live at g mex in 97 (y)
Sounds like good 'ol Manchester to me
yeah. they played whatever and some might say? sounds like it was a good show.
@theenigmajjames That's not a bass player! That's Andy!
@gr8dad No its not you ...He ALWAYS sings like that ...the only time I have ever seen him not was only for a second or two and the only reason was he was playing the tamborine ....usually he stops and puts his hands back behind him when he starts singing again but that one time he played the tamborine a few secs longer while singing ...if I can find the video Im talking about Ill link it to ya
ahahahahahaha! now that 's funny
thats because it is the same exact chords, except in wonderwall, noel has a capo on the second fret of his guitar. This song doesnt have one.
this what it should of sounded like everytime with distorted guitars and everything (this tune is way better live that's what i mean)
noel is god @ te wah wah... should use him more...
is it me ... or does Liam sing EVERY song with his hands clasped behind him??
i see
@powerlester um okay ...yea I know who it is ...but if he is playing a bass then that absolutely does make him a bass player
same here! but I guess not!
they did a full set:
hindu times, hung in a abad place, force of nature, little by little, better man, whatever, some might say, my generation.
i think thats all.
This version is lower than the original.
the 98 vids of them performing it shows how much liam was straining - good decision.
The bass player looks like Liam's twin in this video.
My guess would be that the capo is coz Liam wouldn't be able to sing it in the original key...
Anybody notice this is pretty much the exact same chord progression as the one for Wonderwall?
Completely different song, though.
it sounds like wonderwall at the start
except noel isn;t playing the chords with a capo.....it's in a different key....but yeah same chords pretty much.
@dagiff well they is no more ...they broke up ...which sucks ...Noel said fuck that shit ..and we all know that Noel was the heart and soul of the band ...but Liam and the other remaining members have a new band called Beady Eye ...Ive only heard one song ...but it sounds pretty good ...not as good as Oasis but still not too shaby ...
then what did i say?
(i forgot xD)
apology appreciated and sorry for being such a drama queen myself
peace mate
