Found the Regal LT 2500D-XH (online & Locally) $59 or $49+ (S&H) seriously considered the Legalis but could not find a justification for the extra $10. Really really like your reviews as a new fisherman searching for the best reel in the budget range. Started with a Mitchell Epic and wasnt satisfied, bought a Fierce 3 for the same price, not really satisfied but will be kept for saltwater fishing, now looking to buy either the Laguna or the Legalis. I think.. or I might throw even more money on the feeling and go with a Ultegra. The Laguna is cheaper than the Epic and Fierce was by 10$ and the Legalis pricier at 30$ more. The Ultegra 100$ more. Got no chanche to go and feel the Laguna, Legalis or Ultegra in a store only other Daiwas so will go by you reviewers opinion. Looking for a really smooth feeling and a solid feeling reel. I am a engine 2-stroke guy so the reel has to be tight and not "clicky" for me to be satisfied. I think i should have gone Japanese from the beginning, being a 2-stroke guy but hey.. sometimes you just dont think before buying.

      regal lt is usually $20 cheaper than legalis.. i think partially because of my videos. I told everyone how great the legalis and everyone wanted a legalis, but the regal LT is legalis too... Ultegra is lighter, better gears, but not that much smoother... Legalis is already so dam smooth

    Great video Victor.
    I have both these reels in the 1000 size.
    I like the bluish greenish purplish color of the Regal. It's different looking from most plain Jane boring reels. It's a cool looking color but everone likes something different.
    Both reels do feel identical when turning the handle.
    My smoothest cheap priced reels are my two Revros 2000LT. They are way smoother than any of my other cheap under $100 daiwa reels. I have most of the LT reels up to the tatula. Minus the fuego- not a fan of the color. They are all a good buy, especially at the discounted prices you can find online.

    This is probably the best review for Daiwa reels ever. You should do a comparison between the internal for these and Shimano Sedonas. Sedona seem a bit cleaner, but from what I hear it's not as smooth as the Daiwa's reel. For now I will stick with Sedona, easier to find parts. But would love to see you compare those two. I bought it for my new Fenwick Techna Lite6’9” but it broke in half on day one. That’s OK Fenwick is AWESOME with there warranty and replacement was fast and easy. However I had a Pflueger President 30 fail with grinding, rubbing’ & noisy. Why I just don’t know. So I put the Regal on my Med- Lite Fenwick Bass Elite Tech Rod. It’s a marriage made in Heaven. I love this set up. I had a great weekend besides a ton of fish that I caught. My 3 biggest was a 30” Pike, 20 & 21” LM Bass with Sufix 832 8lbs line.
    Boating these fish was effortless the Regal’s performance was top-notch.
    Now that Fenwick replaced my rod I will put the Regal on that and buy my second Diawa Fuago 2500 LT only because it is better and higher quality reel and it will get so much more use. • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před rokem +1

      bearings do not help free play.... how could they? A bearing has the same dimensions as a bushing. Actually, if u use cheap bearings, the actual race of the bearing can have free play, while the bushing is always solid. If you had free play in one of the reels, its because in $50 reels tolerances are not perfect and not every reel is the same. If you get two other reels, the regal may have the free play and not Legalis. I'm not saying bearings don't do nothing - they make turning the knob smoother, but as far as free play, there is no difference between bearings and bushings. Now proper SHIMMMING does make a difference about free play..

      As for clicker, take off the spool and get a cotton tab and wipe the grease from the base of the spool. The grease acts as shock absorber and muffles the sound of the clicker. Also inspect the shape of the clicker itself. U may need to bend it a little to get it to stick out more

One lake I can bank fish at is LOADED with lily pads. After a couple weeks of learning how to fish that mess I tried a spinning rod with a texas rig. Been hauling out 4 and 5 lbers with it. Drag on Legalis has been awesome so far. And I hate power fishing but it is the only way to bass fish for now. No ultralight sadly til I get on the water. Ryobi doesn't make reels any more. They rebadge Chinese or Korean reels, depending on price. As far as spinning reels go, they will never be as good as Daiwa and SHimano. In the spinning reel world you have only two choices - Daiwa or Shimano. In baitcasting u have more choices, because the Korean reels are very comparable in the low and mid price segments. But in spinning - only Daiwa and Shimano. Ryobi and DAM do not make reels, just resell junk

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 3 lety

      doesnt matter panfish or bass. It depends only on the rod. If you have a very light, very well balanced rod, you will need the 2000. If you have a cheaper, heavier rod, go with the 2500, because it will actually balance better and the combo will feel better with the bigger reel. Also bigger reels have bigger spool and less coils and the line is straighter when u cast. Also gears will last longer on a bigger reel. But all of that is secondary. I buy reels and rods so they can balance well

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 3 lety +2

      It's not just the spool. Spool is fine if you use braid. If you use other lines, i don't like how the line gets so curly from the small spools. But with these long rods you need to consider balance. Putting a small reel on a long rod makes the combo tip heavy. 2500 is probably a better solution, especially if u use mono. But u can put some reels on these rods just to see how the balance feels. If u like the balance, weigh the reel. Then buy whichever reel is closer to that weight.

    From some reason old dude Legallis works 2 times smoother than new Regal.
