- A bit of Star Citizen news, the RSI Polaris is finally now in production! Its now in Whitebox phase and hopefully we will see updates throughout the year and maybe during Citizencon and ISC.

“Because this is a sizeable capital ship, we have been breaking the vehicle down and planning a resource pack so that an interior can be constructed out of reusable elements. The RSI Polaris;
The Polaris is a corvette-class capital ship developed by Roberts Space Industries (RSI) for the United Empire of Earth Navy (UEEN). Designed for use as both a naval patrol ship and to serve as the flagship of civilian militia operations, the Polaris has the capacity to perform search & rescue operations, strike missions and general security patrols. While intended for combat situations, the Polaris can also operate as a command center while providing refuel and repair capabilities from its single small fighter bay.

The Polaris will be the template for all RSI ship interiors and overall styling of the RSI Co. brand.
I personally like the Perseus/Galaxy(cargo), since they will take less crew and that is one of the reasons I pledged for them.
I love the way the Perseus has that WWII Pocket Battleship look to it and the multiple ammo types you can use in it's bespoke S 7 cannons.
That's how it seems to be. So if you end up liking the interior design of the Polaris then there is a good chance you will like the other ships that shares its parts with. I do like the galaxy too. Got one in buy back just in case.
"Preparing for whitebox phase" is not "in whitebox phase".

The Polaris is the biggest ship I got and really excited to see the updated concept is going white box. I also got the Perseus and eager to fly that. I didn't go for the larger caps because I want to crew on some of them. The Polaris and Perseus are better for small groups like the Hammerhead.
I agree. I have no intention on flying mine, I can't fly in this game to save my life. I just have people to fly it for me or jsut stand inside in my hangar.
@@ItIsntJack I want to fly mine. RSI ships are built for hit and run tactics so they should be agile for their size. Have you tried flying the NPC Idris? The railgun is awesome.
Bro, the Perseus is such a sexy ship! I want it so bad. Was it even on sale during this year's Invictus?

@@billywashere6965The perseus is what I would call a true war ship with it very heavy armour and now with shields and it did grate without them before and with its vanduul cleeve deflection shape.
It has to be a must have when they turn up.

There are too many military cap ships still being in limbo. Can’t wait to see them if/when they finally drop.
I feel it can be a Mobile CNC, it can be a Courier ship, Blockade Runner, Torpedo Boat, or just a Long-Range semi-explorer vessel.
My guess is people will try and use it for almost everything and it will do ok for most of things but may struggle being a fast torpedo ship.
@@ItIsntJack at the end of the day the polaris should be the fastest ship in the game in reg space as well as quantum. Get in, hit hard, grab whatever and then get out.
But also should be weakest in its class to balance that I think personally
@@ItIsntJack This is the true, the shield data that I have seen and the armor is paper thin. They couldn't make it so fast without having limitations.
The thing is them working on the Polaris benefits not just Polaris owners but pretty much any RSI ship owner, whether their ships are still in concept (Perseus, Galaxy, Apollo) or need rework (Connie). Whatever assets they make for the Polaris can easily be reused on those ships.
Yeah, they said they will be doing a hand-me-down on assets once the Polaris is down, with the Galaxy, Perseus and Apollo being made back to back. So that's big news!

The Polaris is not currently in production. They're doing "preliminary" work on it to get it ready for whenever they put it in production.
Oh id say you get a few good loaners for that Idris
Also the Polaris Galaxy, Perseus and Nautilus all qualify as "Sub Capital" ships

Yes after consepting how many years ago it is now in the initial stage of talking about it getting worked on. We can expect more development "soon", as in a few years another holoview at IAE and a finished white box rework. 😂

I'll be surprised if even the Spirit is out by next year. And doubt we will sniff Pyro until late next year at best.
A1 spirit may MAY drop end of the year but with CIG no one ever really knows.

I don't see any capital ship coming out next year. Too much of a headache to balance I think. And I could see some issues with sales happening if they balance them properly and ppl hate needing a minimum of 2 people to operate the ship outside of just flight. (At least the only way I imagine balancing a 1 hit kill monster is to have the flight and missle/gun controls assigned to different seats.
I wouldn’t mind something coming out that is a size match to the 890j at least but I don’t see this ship anything in the next 12 months.
@@ItIsntJack I can't wait for the game to start pumping out missions where fully crewed big ships on 10-60 minute missions is really profitable. (In more than just $$. Rare loots, secret map locations, alien artifacts, Official Org base equipment, etc.)

My theory is that they will save the Ranger for the next onboarding task for the next new vehicle team. It's only going to take a few months to complete, and so it's an easy-enough task for new artists.
@@billywashere6965 i hope not the ranger will require a more top tier employee team because the suspension must articulate and balance and leg stand and wheelies leaning while going over uneven terrain and not clip through planets all new tech not yet in game

NO. Polaris is not in production and is not in whitebox. It won't even be in production this year. Polaris is in pre-production for whitebox so they can start production within the next year.

who knows at this point. It seems like they need to use it for other RSI ships to use assets for them so maybe its a legit production. I hope it is but only time will tell

Yeah it should but I think it’s the biggest ship that will fit. I loved the concept for the sabre. Not so much the final model.

Pretty much. I think they might be wanting to push the Polaris for Pyro given the system’s size. Could be wrong and the devs go merchantman on this too and back burner it.
BMM is permanently shelved until they can train up enough artists to replace the handful of peple that left who were working on it (I wouldn't doubt it if those people who left went to go work on Star Atlas, it has very similar ship language design as Star Citizen).
But anyway, yeah, once the artists get acquainted with the pipeline then they will allow them to work on the BMM, since it has no shared assets and they cannot duplicate assets for its design.

For me, it's always been the Perseus. Lotta people want the Polaris and all, but the limited use of warheads vs gun turrets makes me wary of this one.
I get you there. I think it’s more because it has medical, landing pad etc. that makes it more wanted. I do like the Perseus too.

There's no way the Polaris is coming next year. Double any timelines they set. So if they say 1,5 years, expect 3 years.

Useless fact: a canoe with a machine gun can be a capital ship. A capital ship is, simply put, the ship that your entire battle strategy relies upon. i.e., if you lose that ship, your mission is over.
That would be an interesting take. A canoe being the capital command ship for an entire fleet of huge destroyers and corvettes.
@@ItIsntJack I mean you could use something like a terrapin to be your command ship, great sensors but small enough to be able to hide amongst the other ships making it less of a target
That’s a good idea. Personally I’ll use my Idris but a small ship like the terrapin won’t be suspect to an attacking force.

Oh? So it's a different kind of artist that can work on a BMM than who can work on the Polaris? The Polaris artist aren't BMM certified? LOL
@@private_citizen As ridiculous as that sounds, that's pretty much how Jon Crewe described it. Essentially, the BMM requires Super Saiyan artists, the Polaris only requires normal Saiyan tier artists.
There's a complete tour of the Idris, google 'Aegis Dynamics Idris SC Leaks Walkthrough' by Danny.whatever. Been up for years. KnebelDE has a Whitebox walthrough tour for the Perseus. Has an English translation option.
