Who came here after Natalie Portman said this was her favourite Julieanne Moore film!!!
me! ahahaha
Actually Julianne Moore is my favorite actress, but I never heard about this movie. So, thanks Natalie! 😉
how the hell have I never seen or even heard of this movie. looks so good!
I know...I have not either!
Julianne Moore once said that making this movie traumatized her so much that even her menstruation stopped for a while.
How did it traumatise her?

Nobody should ever have to go through that.
Period.
I can’t believe I haven’t watched this until now. A dialogue is had between the film and your instinct. So very well done. I love how it drops all of these questions on your lap and lets you hold onto them to process as you must. Such is life.
I watched this film a few years ago and it stuck with me. I recently watched “May December” and feeling the same type of emotions - and when researching, realized not only did Todd Haynes direct both films, but it was his FIFTH collaboration with Julianne Moore! I need to watch their other films!
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MOVIES EVER!!!!
Brilliant acting from julianne moore, love her very much♥️💞😘😘
I think she’s the most talented and brilliant actress currently working and have since 1998; she’s an absolute genius of acting.
Can’t believe I just now watched this wonderful, transformative movie for the first time. Julianne Moore is phenomenal and should have won the best actress Oscar that year. Don’t think anyone could beat this iconic performance. And I was already getting Argento vibes from the start with the beautiful color schemes and production design. Suddenly Jessica Harper shows up in a small role. This slow burn masterpiece is way ahead of it’s time and just bounced into my top favorite films of all time. 🎉
This movie, seen in the early 2000's, triggered me a panic attack! Great film tho, and perfectly fitting our pandémic era.
Yep. Panicked children in adult bodies curling in fear from everything. This must be what happens when major problems are solved and we concentrate on the trivial and insignificant.
Same happened to me when I saw it in 1995.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE

oh dear that is STAGGERING, GIRL!
Could not be more relevant today
If the trailer hadn't said "it's not viral", I'd totally agree with you.
PS: I love your username 'Orange Juice Jones'.
In fact it has nothing to do with today. The trailer is completely misleading.
dope movie
Masterpiece movie. Haynes master of cinema. 🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
She’s still Alice.

Ok. So I'm glad I seen a clip of this for a Mubi ad on Fb, to only then come here to both watch the trailer and read the comments. Then I'll probably go read or watch a spoiler free review. And like a lot of you, I have no idea how I'm only now hearing about this movie. From what I gather it's right up my alley. But some of the comments give me pause. I'm what you call an over thinker to put in mildly, by nature. I've even been diagnosed with labels such as bipolar, Pure O OCD which is a type centered around intrusive thoughts. Even as far as schizeffective. Which summed up is a much tamer version of what most know schizophrenic to be. But never more then once throughout the years. All the so called experts can't seem to agree. I'm now 49 and come to realize it's not that deep. And can even be an asset as long as my faith and self awareness stay in check. I tell you all this because I felt a bit of backstory was needed to ask this, at the moment, very important question. SeeI just consumed a gummy. So yea there's that. And let's say I definitely can slip into pretty intense thought patterns. Nothing I haven't survived. Bu5 in all honesty I may have danced too close to concerning territory a few times. Always only a danger to myself. Well at least physically. I do have a ten year old daughter who's well being far surpasses my desire to chill a bit. So finally the question. Only to the ones who have seen it. Should I watch this movie right now. I got three hours would be just enough time to have a 15 panic attack?
Come to think of it, no one is going to answer in time. I'm on my own. Im gonna wait. But damn, I can't wait till I'm in the right head to watch it.
I love movie that can break the fourth wall and fuck with you.
There's so few. True classics. I'm excited to see if I get to add this to my favorites.
Or am I putting too high expectations.
Man, this gummies strong.
God bless you, Cher. I’m a psychotherapist, so I think I understand.
@paulvoorhies8821 lol. Don't even remember posting this. Nice to know someone understood. Especially since I can't seem to find a therapist who understands and/or challenges me to understand myself more. I know its a long shot but by any chance you're in Indianapolis or do virtual therapy? I'm covered and can afford out of pocket. My family is going through it right now and I sure could use some guidance on how to better help them and myself.
@@cherbear113 LOL; that’s funny. I’m not in Indianapolis, unfortunately, and I do virtual, but can only practice within my state, which is Louisiana. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Don’t let that discourage you from trying another therapist. I hope you find someone kind, empathic, and caring to guide you. Good luck to you!
@paulvoorhies8821 Too bad. Im honestly starting to lose hope in finding one suited for me. Maybe I'm just too picky. Idk. But it never seems to go anywhere. I tell them the same shit every week. And they just continue to ask me the same shit and turn my questions back on me. I know I know, the socratic method and all that jazz. But like I said. I'm an over thinker. I can talk to myself at home for free. I'm starting to really believe the entire mental health field is just shooting medicated darts in the dark. But thanx for listening to me vent for a second. ✌️
@@cherbear113 No problem.
Your mind. I love this film. 👍😌
I'm here because of Olivia Laing
What is the trailer soundtrack? It’s so beautiful
Terrible trailer, the movies actually really good
This trailer is even worse than terrible, it is a crime against the movie, by making the viewer believe that it is about something happening, like some alien invasion, when it is a portrait of American society.
Amazing film but damn this 90s trailer voiceover narration is horrible.

This makes it seem like a horror movie. LOL. I mean, there are some creepy scenes.

A story about a self-obsessed hypochondriac.
you should do a little research on chemical intolerance. it happend to me out of the blue and now im allergic or whatever to fragrance products. then look up wahts made up of artificial fragrance and then watch the hundreds of commercials evwerday telling you to buy plug-ins and over scented laundry boosters that stink up entire neighborhoods and you might make a btter connenction than the women is just a hypocondriac. if you cannot find this stiff yourself, pm me and ill give you over 300 links to this shit and how millions are being affected by an over chemical world. shit they just had the whole world wiping down everying in their life with scented wipes and sprays.
Not at all, this disease exists and it has been studied in Usa since the 50s. There are lots of books and a huge medical literature about this illness that can be horrible. Its called chemical sensitivity and the best clinic that treats patients from all over the world is in TX, the founder was a brilliant and very aknowledged doctor, so ahead from his collegues and the mainstream medicine. Respect these ppl as me, who has it. It is a nightmare and its not hypochondria, I can assure you. The movie insists on the psycological side but the real illness is not psycological based nor hypochondria related.
I just watched this and could not see what the fuss was about.
Should have watched paint dry, that would have been more interesting!
YOU PEOPLE ARE OUT OF YOUR MINDS BECAUSE OF YOU I SAT THROUGH THIS AWFUL DUMPSTER FIRE OF A MOVIE!
I really like this movie!
Pierre Shut up and take another opinion you worthless human.
Me too today! What a boring, dull film.

An outstanding film ? I must have been given the wrong movie in the box then ...... An almost non existent script with little to no depth, terrible cutting and editing, awkward non linear camera angles, and a music score whose intensity doesn't match the scenes it's intended for, shockingly bad. You lovers of this so called " great movie" better get yourselves to a commune of your own, I've heard "Woke Valley" caters for your particular illness.
Whenever someone uses “woke” like this, especially for a film that predates the term by decades, you know you can ignore them and not suffer any loss.
Maybe, but one things for sure, you certainly won't get any gains to your understanding or knowledge from this utter trash.
Thank you for proving my point with your ridiculous reply, go and read some more Owen Jones columns, your kind of journalism ........
@@Broomehall You’re to not like the film, but tossing in bizarre tangents about “wokeness” says more about your lack of critical thinking than anyone else could possibly argue about.
Another MAGAT on the loose.
