  • 7 hours of White Noise for Tinnitus Relief from a Waterfall Sound recorded in the nature.
    There's not usually a quick fix for tinnitus, but it will often improve gradually over time. A number of treatments are available to help you cope.
    If your tinnitus is caused by an underlying health condition, treating the condition will help stop or reduce the sounds you hear.
    Tinnitus is often most noticeable in quiet environments. The aim of "sound therapy" or "sound enrichment" is to fill any silence with neutral sounds to distract you from the sound of tinnitus.
    This may involve simple measures such as opening a window to hear noises coming from outside, leaving a radio or television on, or listening to sounds on a portable music player.
    You can get specially-designed sound generators that look similar to a radio. These produce quiet natural sounds, such as leaves rustling in the wind and waves lapping on the shore. White noise generators are similar devices that produce a continuous "shushing" sound at a level that's comfortable and soothing.
    Also available are pillows containing built-in speakers to help distract you from tinnitus when you go to sleep, and small sound-generator devices that fit in your ear like a hearing aid. Some hearing aids have built-in sound generators for people with tinnitus.

    Thanks for this upload. I've had tinnitus for about 8 months, acquired suddenly from attending a loud rock concert. Sadly, one of my fave bands (and/or their soundman) has seriously damaged my hearing ("Thanks"...). Instead of getting better over time, the ringing has gotten worse, causing me more anxiety. Today, I belatedly started trying out white noise masking to try to address tinnitus. I was skeptical it would do much, but happily, it's working far better than I imagined! White noise audio can make me be mostly unaware of my tinnitus now instead of being tormented by an obnoxious sound that doesn't go away.
    White noise works far better than music to distract from the ringing. I can play music at moderate volume and still be well aware of my ears ringing. I love being near or on water and love the sound of waterfalls and white water rivers and creeks. And this waterfall audio seems to have a range of white noise frequencies that works to treat my tinnitus. And it has the most pleasant sound I've yet heard from white noise audio files that can help my tinnitus. Many thanks.

      Hermesacat So it went away? Or did it just become less irritating?

    • @Bobjb999
      @Bobjb999 Před 7 lety +11

      Thankfully, I can become virtually unaware of the ear-ringing sound, temporarily, while this white noise is playing on my computer speakers. Some other natural water sound recordings (of waterfalls, rain, etc.) don't, on their own, work quite as well as this upload. But I still like to listen to some other sounds for variety, and I find I can make others work as well as this one simply by augmenting them by simultaneously playing a second audio file of one of those artificial white noise audio files created by some audio software that are also findable online. Plus I'll sometimes play an artificial white noise file at low volume while listening to music, so I'm less aware of, or unaware of, the ringing while enjoying music.

    • @Bobjb999
      @Bobjb999 Před 5 lety +10

      @@goldzemia1995 It's getting close to 3 years on and the tinnitus persists. Within the first year, it worsened slightly. It was barely noticeable in the right ear at first, but became slightly more apparent in the right ear with time. The left is the most affected. After the first year, the ringing neither worsened nor lessened. I expect it's likely permanent.
      What has lessened with time is the anxiety and irritation from it. I've become more accustomed to hearing the ringing without feeling as stressed about it as before. It's still a source of some irritation at times, but I rarely even bother with using white noise treatment anymore despite the fact white noise does an excellent job of masking the ringing so one is unaware of it. That proves I no longer feel nearly as irritated by the ringing as before, although it's as loud sounding as ever. I've gotten more used to it, apparently.
      Btw, I found the most effective white noise treatment for me was to have two sounds playing simultaneously. I'd play an audio track of electronic white noise "hiss" with one media player, plus a track of natural white noise such as a waterfall on another player on my laptop. The two sounds together worked perfectly, better than just one alone.

    For anyone experiencing tinnitus, in one ear or both...whether it’s ringing or swooshing, have your iron levels checked! It may be caused by low iron. If so, it can be easily treated with have your doctor prescribe an iron supplement! Suffered for a couple of years with it getting progressively worse but after just a few days of taking my iron supplements for my extremely low hemoglobin it almost completely subsided! Plus, the ice cravings went away as well as my rapid heart rate and extreme fatigue!

    So happy people are finding out that this specific sound is helping them as well as it's helping me. I, like many of you, was skepticle until I fell asleep while listening, so it played through the entire download. My tennitis began in the mid to late 70's and continued to worsen as time went by. Mine got really bad after going to a rock concert and standing literally 2 feet from a humungeous speaker during the entire show. I went outside after the show and absolutely could not hear cars going by me while standing on the curb. My tennitus is slowly getting better but a hearing specialist told me that I should use ear phones to listen to the "white noise" for 8 hours a day for a year. I just can't do that but...I try to listen at every opportunity I get. Going to bed and turning on this white noise allows me to fall asleep much better than before. On the plus side, it continues to work on the desease even while sleeping.

      I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm 27 years old. I'll go through various exams in order to determine if my tinnitus is due to hearing loss or if it's stress related. I'll have to wait until February 25 though.
      Meanwhile, I'm a mess of nerves. I try to remain positive because there are moments in which the ringing does go away entirely when I relax, but it becomes worse as soon as I stress out.
      All I can do right now is have a positive outlook. It is the only thing that will work for me. I recommend playing the Pollyanna 'glad game'. For example, I tell myself that I'm glad that despite my tinnitus, my overall health is perfect. I know that breaking the vicious cycle of anxiety is really tough, but it is the only thing you can do right know, because there is nothing worst for tinnitus than anxiety.
      My biggest fear is, what if it's permanent? what if it gets worse over time? I'm currently drinking camomile tea and valerian drops in order to cope with the anxiety and I'm doing my best to get distracted, to be happy with what I have and remain positive.
      I hope it will get better for both of us :)

I thought that was just a meme from old cartoons, that you can make someone have to go to the bathroom with the sound of running water, not that it would actually work on someone (it certainly never did a thing to me). It doesn't even sound identifiably as water though, it's just white noise.

      tony v hey, I understand it’s annoying and depressing. But remember and remind yourself, tinnitus is just a symptom, not a disease itself. The more attention you give it, the worse it becomes. Distract yourself, listen to something you are curious to hear, even if it’s unusual at first thought. Talk to someone whose voice you like. Listen to new music. Talk to new people. Learn more about something where you think you already know a lot. Tinnitus is annoying, but there are also so many other things in life that can be annoying! Being unemployed, not being able to pay the rent, not having money for healthy food. Life is a balance between different kind of things, don’t let your balance be taken away by tinnitus! Please. Life is a journey, even with unpleasant things. We often don’t know what others, who might seem always happy or having a perfect life, are going through or what they will face. The most amazing gift that we all have is AWARENESS. We can be aware of tinnitus! Which means we can interprete tinnitus as a symptom! Take the extreme example: if a grenade explodes next to a soldier, he gets tinnitus for a moment. If he only focuses on the sound, he might die because he forgets he is still in danger! Despite the sound, he has to use is other senses to keep going! Temporarily we cannot trust a sense sometimes and have to trust the others. Find the way through the labyrinth!
      All the best.
