Beautiful building and elevators. That's the first time I've seen Hitachi escalators too.
Best thing I've seen all day.
These elevators are awesome and the building is beautiful!
Beautiful video. Best of the best elite.
(8.Jul.2020)
one of the *Best* buildings ever! thx for showing us this beautiful landmark
Dieselducy, this is probably my favourite elevator video ever. Thanks!!
Fellow fan agrees with your comment here at this historic building, very relaxing feel and not rushed and seeing other people helps the building activity feel alive. !!!
AMAZING!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FOR GIVING THIS VID
Amazing!
Oh my gosh! I'll make sure I visit this place.
I visited this place and it is awesome
Are these still original?
I never knew older elevators could nudge
I saw a video on another channel and it was a par old elevator but it sounded super creepy.
EPIC Elevators y'all
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Okay, looking back on this video, I'm hands down still sad to see these nostalgic and amazing elevators go away. In all seriousness, I wish it didn't have to go, but I'm sure whoever called the renovation on this building had their reasons. That right there, gives me a whole new meaning of how all good things must come to an end one of these days.
Just glad they are preserved in video
Keep up the great videos Dieselducy Thank you and have great Thanksgiving..
Agreed, fellow DD fan agrees with your comment and well wishes for Thanksgiving.
The Starks Building was RENOVATED in 2018.
This is a really cool building. Otis touch sensitive buttons remind me of the elevators at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Every once in a while if I happen to be in an older hotel, I'll find an unlocked machine room certainly worth checking out. The easiest to way to get there is to take the fire escape stairs which will be have to be closest to the elevator bank. They will most likely give you access to the machine room..
great elevator for thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving Dieselducy!!
nice elevators! oh and happy thanksgiving!
The circular plate on the floor is to provide access to the winding drum for the car emergency brake -known as the "safety"- which clamps to the rails.
There is a bevel gear on the drum for a "T" wrench which also has a bevel pinion that allows the safety to be manually released.
Your video is awesome
I love this elevators
I do not blame anyone for ranking this as their favorite elevator video of all time. I like how they were designed.
They were amazing. Sad to see them go.
Those elevators remind me a little of the CityCenter at 735 building in Milwaukee which have 8 elevators like these from 1912. This building looks nicer though than that place. Same amount of floors and everything, but the elevators look a little bit more modern than these, but it's got the original controllers and fixtures
I love how the 15 flashed when it was getting impatient.
True, the flashing and buzzer both. In the vid at this final ride this is the only time this happened.
These are very very nice elevators. Original too (at least from the touch sensitive era)
Cool... cool... COOL!! If we ever get you up here to Duluth, MN, I'll personally tour you around to the vintage 50's Westy's @ Wells Fargo, touch-sensitive Otis @ Board of Trade & lots more. I need to go see these!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
when do u think the freight elevator vid will come??? i kinda wanna see that now... lol
the Thatcher building I filmed has Otis touch sensitive also. amazing stuff. this place looks nice!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I seen elevator doors like this one at a few dept. stores.
1:24 10:25 It seems like the floor rails in the selector are directly next to each other with no spacing as the bulbs don't turn off in between
I noticed that too. Good possibility
The Oxmoor Macy’s one got modded by Schindler. That used to be Montgomery with Innovation.
I think [DOOR CLOSE] always works but some type of dispatching (I.e. peak up/down) keeps the doors up...
How come did you not go down to the basement in this building?
Happy Thanksgiving, for new years I'm going to film a vintage otis with pre lexan fixtures
Also I'll make sure and look out for unsuspecting power outages.
O yeah
If you want to hear an Otis Touch-Sensitive elevator in Nudge Mode, skip to 11:12.
2:28. What is the dude at the front security desk doing? 😉
If these ever get modernized, I will write to the President!
Just amazing! The UK has some terrible generic elevators/lifts replacing our nice old ones. We should take a leaf out of the USA's book! If they want to make them better they should just refurbish not modernize or replace.
Surprised he didn’t film seelbach hotel. It’s right down the street with rare Murphy elevators in it.
Have they been moded
I like the second bank of elevators better than the first bank.
I was just in Louisville a couple weeks ago. The building is all boarded up and is shut down entirely. The status of how these elevators is currently unknown however it is confirmed that these were indeed modernized.
Where did you find out these were modernized? They were still original in 2019 but most of them were out of service due to the building being renovated.(Which was never completed)
If the building is boarded up then how is it confirmed that they’ve been modernized?
The escalators were probably installed by Dover. They installed Hitachi escalators in the U.S. But it's weird how they have the Hitachi name, normally they have the Dover name.
that last elevator you rode when you got to 15 it was not telling you it was time to go you let nudge
I rode these same elevators in Oakland, California, the only difference is the buttons are circle and the elevators are slower.
What building?
Well it looks like the City Center at 735 with their historic Otis elevators just like these are getting modded with Schindler Port. I'm probably gonna ask for some parts.
So you're saying these Starks building elevators are getting modernized?
I don't know probably not
***** From what Andrew told me, these elevators are in no danger of getting modded since the Starks Building is placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings, and the elevators don't need to be upgraded any further.
ElevatorMan5482 ElevExperiencing Productions he was talking about a different building these elevators are way too beautiful to modernize
+CubsRule2040 Very good to read this update!!! Glad it is very favorable to these elevators!!!
I'm watching the vid in night I,m tired
It is considered unlucky to some superstitious people, so in some tall buildings, there isn't a 13th floor as those people would be uncomfortable staying/working there.
Epic bell on 15. Also, ironic door closing. Takes forever on 1 and no time at all on 15.
Just was in Louisville on 6/6/19. Currently the Starks Building is closed to the public with a sign on the front door reading "closed for renovations." 🙁
Same thing happened when I went 2 weeks ago. And apparently the building has been closed for 1.5-2 years now...
Now, you can still access the building via the back door of the building which is still open for construction workers and deliveries, however, all but one passenger and the freight elevator were out of service, and I wasn't able to go up either of the two working elevators as they're being used for construction and they are doing lots of internal demolition on the upper floors. :(
@@FloridianElevators There was another office building near by with round touch buttons in some of the hallway call stations. Can't remember the name of the building, but it was close by and about 30 stories. Aside from the interior buttons being replaced it's all original 70's Otis and those elevators were rocket fast!
@@addman27 I know which elevators you're referring to. I rode those, they're fun!!! They're about to modded soon though.
I've never heard Touch Sensitive nudge mode before. :)
What is nudge mode?
@@corrinaandlenycorrinaandle4065 It's when you leave the doors open for too long. A beeper and/or buzzer goes off warning you to stand clear because that mode forces the doors closed.
Some great Japanese escalators!
Elevating Oregon since 2015 just to correct you these are not Japanese. Otis is an American company.
Now is renovated and modernized elevators and two passengers elevators are decommissioned i think the freight elevator is original
Is it open ?
@@DieselDucy i think so
elevaTOUR
Is this the building where the security said to you sternly, "Sir I need to speak with you for a moment
You might be thinking of the Campbell Court in Roanoke, VA?
Your talking about Campbell Court in Roanoke, Virginia
i like innerdoors
The Elevator Stopped At 7 At 8:59
4 speed door
11:13 I wonder why it buzz's like that,
Nudge Mode.
Why is 13 absent?
I remember when that place was full of people. Sad what it is today.
It's so sad people diss these old office buildings like this one without acknowledging how much history there is and how lucky they are to work in a place like this....and then as a result, places like this get ruined on the inside and turned into apartments or hotels...

I was just here today, and I have some very bad news. The building is now vacant and closed, and is being totally gutted and turned into a hotel and apartments. All but ONE of the passengers are now out of service, and the freighter was working, but I couldn't ride it. I got to look inside the place and in the elevators, but couldn't ride due to asbestos. I was told 2 of the Autotronics will be ripped out and the rest will be modernized or replaced. The freighter may or may not be replaced, but that is Unknown. So yeah, I hate to be the bearer of bad news,
But RIP Otis Autotronics 1954-2019.
beautiful awesome old Otis,s hope they don't ever get modded
J Bush sadly they did
TrainFan56 OH MY GOD GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHY WOULD THE TOUCH THESE BEAUTIFUL ELEVATORS WHAT IDIOTS THESE BUILDING OWNERS ARE !!!!!!!!
As far as I know, these are still here, despite renovation plans, which I believe never happened.
@@EWPA14 I'm gonna be in Louisville next month, I will find out their current state then and if they're still original, which from the looks of it they are, I'm gonna see if I can ask security or someone what the plan is regarding these elevators' future...

...oops, I meant "open"
No floor 13! I think I know why.
Ummm wheres floor 13??
Are they still original today ?
I'm pretty positive according to recent photos online and on Instagram, but people have gone around saying these are modded. Can't confirm exactly, but probably original
I got word that they will be either modded by Kone or Schindler since both bases are near by
@@Rollinggirl39 How do you know these are being modded?
@@FloridianElevators I live in Kentucky. And my friend knows a guy
@@Rollinggirl39 I take it the elevators are still original right now, but are about to be modded. Any idea if or when they will be modded?
This building is getting remodeled and I think these Elevators are getting modernized! :(
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
touch sensitive
Thanksgiving?
13 is missing ? Huh ? : )
Where's level 13?
13's an unlucky number in the US, so that's why. Lot of other buildings in the USA don't have a 13th floor.
if you want to know why no 13 Because 13 is unlucky
It Looks Bumpy Inside
At 11:14 it went in nudge mode
Please tell me what "nudge mode" is.
Namaste
Evan Glatkowski Nudge mode is when the elevators doors are open for too long and it will make beeping noises and it will close

according to Airtrain Lover these are getting modernized
I have no words...
Getting modded by who?
+ELEVATORS AND NORTH AMERICA Murphy and I'm very disappointed
+Elevator Filmer Dominic Arnone I think I've seen the company before, that just sucks, the elevators won't be as good as they are now!
+Elevator Filmer Dominic Arnone I hope the freight elevator doesn't get modded:(!
Why does every video about a elevator start with a toy train?
It's the mascot of his channel. =)
There is not 13th floor ?!
Yes! There Is No 13! It's Skipped!
Mattie Guillen
Thats the one annoying thing about elevators is the fan is so loud you could barely hear the motor
yeah totally.
I believe that if your on 14 in a building with no 13, your still on 13.
True!
Lifts shopping,
Sadly. All of the Passenger elevators, escalators, and the Freight elevator have been since ripped out and COMPLETELY Replaced. RIP OTIS Elevators.
WHAT?! No! Why? I wanted to ride these elevators. Why were the elevators demolished?
Super Techno Cat were there anybody killed?
@ElevatorGaming Can you stop asking that question? You've asked that every time you hear about an elevator that got demolished / ripped out.
Super Techno Cat
I know the building is being turned into apartments, but do you have any proof that all the elevators are being modded/ripped-out? Or do you just assume that because of the renovations.
As far as I know, these are still here, despite renovation plans, which I believe never happened.
11:12 nudge mode
Yep
The second bank of elevators have faster doors
sadly modded i believe.
😪😰😰
Sadly these were modernized.
The building is currently abandoned
@@DieselDucy What? I thought it was redeveloped into apartments.
