This video showcases my seven favorite waterfalls in Southern California ranging from the easiest to the hardest. Update for Escondido Falls: PLEASE be aware that right after the first waterfall, it is very difficult to climb up the hill. It’s very steep and super rocky. There isn’t a rope anymore and the roots of trees make it more difficult. It is really hard if you take your dogs or little kids. I wouldn’t recommend if you bring your dogs or kids. Other than that it’s a super cool hike, mostly in the spring, hopefully that helps anyone from showing up and realizing this.

I am impressed with this list. Where I live in the Antelope Valley, we have a seasonal waterfall. It's about 6 inches high where the water falls off the curb into the gutter. Altogether not impressive. Glad you found better ones.

Try to get into the cave at Black Star Canyon Falls as it is cool to check out. Bring plenty of drinking water as the hike is long and get good directions as there are no signs to know where to make the turns and you may miss it. Bring epipen for bees if allergic. I got stung but few people do and I did not notice any at the falls, just one segment of the way up.

  • @DrewsPools

I was surprised to see my home waterfall top the list! I live 20 min away from Black Star Falls outside of Trabuco Canyon. Pro Tip: when you get to the falls, climb the steep hill to your right to find a set of ropes. You can climb the ropes to the top of the hill for incredible views of the Santa Ana mountains!

Me and my dad went there yesterday he has a bad back that needed several surgeries and I’m a skinny 5”9 135lbs that never exercises and he made it up easily because he use to hike all the time in his younger days but I barely made it up mostly because I was out of breath and trying to keep up with my dad. It’s a good hike and even though it’s number 1 on this list I think it’s do able for most people of average athleticism and determination

another awesome fall - but way south - off highway 8 halfway to Arizona - it's called kitchen creek falls - of the PCT near the Mexican border. The hike is about 5 miles round trip - mostly moderate trail, but about a half mile scramble to get to the bottom tier - it's a 5 tier, 200 foot fall - and is by far my favorite falls - black star is my second, Ortega when flowing is third. check out hikelikers on IG - or look up kitchen creek falls for more images - I promise you wont be dissapointed

Tanriverdi Falls is 160' tall but is a very difficult & dangerous hike and climb. It is about 3 miles each way accessible from Falcon Group Camp ground off the 74. This takes you to the top of the falls. I am told its the largest in So Cal and generally a canyoneering trip of 10+ hours.
