- In this video we'll be going over the best cards in the game which can deal piercing damage, which is a term in Yu-Gi-Oh that allows you to still do battle damage to your opponent if you attack into a defense position monster. Where normally they would be safe from battle damage.

He made a mistake with purgatrio’s effect. He said purgatrio gains 200 atk for each monster, but it actually gains 200 atk for each card, including spells/traps

Hello! It did make me sad that he said Ancient Gear Golem and Pound are hard to get out when Ancient Gear decks have many ways to get them out. Also, he didn't mention Overload Fusion, which can easily get Chaos Giant out after an Ancient Gear Fusion.
@@bigdaddyjh2002 true we have ancient gear catapult, Wyvern, and Frame to bring it out plus we have an Ancient gear Hunting Hound, Duel logs said that Chaos is easy to destroy using monster effects but if you have an Ancient Gear fortress and limiter removal you can otk your opponent

It's kinda niche and I don't know if there's enough for a Top 10 or have good enough cards for a Top 10 but I want to see a Top 10 non-union monsters that can equip itself to other monsters (like Black Metal Dragon, Dark Necrofear etc.) or Top 10 monsters that can treat monsters as equip cards (Red Eyes Slash Dragon, Thousand Eyes Restrict, Cyberdarks etc.).
The whole dragunity archetype

This reminds me that I need to try out FA with the new support. UA is so much better now.
I feel like you are highly underestimating #10. That card is specifically an OTK enabler. If a player brings #10 out while the opponent has a quick effect monster telegraphed, then that loss is on them. The only card that can reasonably out this card from a competent player are hand traps, specifically Effect Veiler, otherwise good luck surprising them with flip effects.
That said, it probably deserved #9 at best.

I would put Neo Parsath, just 2300 for a 7th level Monster but if you have Sky Sanctuary and more life points than your opponent it adds that difference to it's attack, getting stronger and stronger. It also lets you draw a card when it makes damage and can be easily summoned if you have it's weaker versión in the field or if you have Valhalla and no monsters in your field.
An important thing to note, in the case of Rebirth of Parshath, is the structure deck it came in also had Guiding Ariadne, a pendulum monster that made it where you don’t have to pay costs to use counter traps.
I never realized starving venom does piercing, and it gives all your monsters piercing.
Prolly referencing Anime where Yuri copies jumbo drill ability and pierce every opponent monster with 13000 attack.

It was the best thing ever to have a high defense monster like aqua madoor be hit by spear dragon so they lost 100 lp and had to switch the spear dragon into defense mode then you attack it with your own spear dragon

Or Lancer Lindwurm which doesn't have to change to defense mode after attacked.

The #1 was expected since it is currently the only banned monster that inflicts piercing battle damage.
Metalfoes Orichalc can make the list. Grants double piercing to all your metalfoes monsters. Also very easy to bring out in that archetype.
Was honestly expecting Orichalc to be on here due to how easy it is to bring out a Metalfoes fusion

Chaos ancient gear giant isn’t that hard to summon since ancient gear wyvern can search out materials like ancient gear box which searches out more materials for you and plus ancient gear golem isn’t that hard to summon thanks to cards like ancient gear catapult and ancient gear howitzer also it has decent protection so I think it deserves a higher spot on the list .
Also wanna throw this out there, a copy or two of E HERO Prisma goes a lot farther than you think
I believe you forgot about Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman. I was almost sure he would top this list: Piercing Damage with monster effect lockdown...

As a weirdo, I'd like to plead the case for Gem-Knight Ruby being on this list. I know Gems weren't really a hugely played archetype, but they're a favorite of mine and Ruby is a really solid one. A 2500 beatstick who is relatively easy to summon (just needs Garnet and any other Gem-Knight) and can absorb the attack of any other Gem you tribute plus piercing. A Duel Links combo I love is to use Gem-Knight Fusion to bring out Lady Brilliant Diamond, use her effect to turn something into Ruby, tribute Lady Brilliant Diamond for Ruby's effect, and attack. Anything with less than a 1900/1900 stat line (depending on battle position) results in an immediate OTK if the attack goes through

Something I didn’t see mentioned about the Blue Eyes Chaos Max combination is that if you pair it with the regular Blue Eyes Chaos Dragon, mind you I am aware of needing to use a blue eyes to gain the effect and it’s another ritual that is tough to bring out, you have a game winning combo right there and if you do it right I’m sure you can cheat out chaos max but still recommend doing Chaos’s normally so you can gain the effect of when he attacks your opponents monster, they switch battle positions and all their values are permanently set to 0, while doing normal piercing damage then follow up with Chaos max and you win the game if they are all switched to defense mode when Chaos Dragon attacks

Not even an honorable mention for D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf? I mean, he blows up all the cards in the S&T zones during the standby phase as well as gives all D/D monsters piercing battle damage. Whether the deck can make use of that is a different story though. ^^;
D/D/D-fusion monsters are fairly easy to summon in Duel Links, but it sucks that the backrow-destruction is almost literally Sacred Phoenix Of Nephthys. The fact that it can only be used during your own standby phase is a problem.
@@r4nd0mguy99 but hey, Beowulf is level soooo.... that's a thing. =3 Also, the destruction effect is optional, not mandatory. Let's say you have 3 Dark Contracts on your field with less than 2k LP left, Beowulf will save you from taking any burn damage because you can activate his destruction effect before the burn, even though they are mandatory and activates.

4:02 I did that in an Elemental Hero deck in WC 2007 with varying degrees of success. The best way to cheat out Cyber End Dragon there was using Last Will to Special Summon Cyber-Stein in defense position so the 5000 LP cost wouldn't be that bad.
I loved using Gaia Dragon in my Hieratic deck. I know Hieratics weren't really a super meta competitive deck, but going 2nd, opening into 2 Atums, brining out Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, using it's effect to bring out a Blue-Eyes from my hand or graveyard, then overlaying both Atums (who can't attack the turn they use their effect) into Gaia's, then swinging for game is one of my fondest memories of mid-2010's yugioh. It was the first time I ever legitimately OTK'd someone, and it felt so good

I remember those days. It was a lot faster than saying "a monster that, when it attacks with an ATK higher than the DEF of a defense position monster, can inflict the difference as damage to the opponent's life points." I miss the days of deliberately confusing text for simple effects.
Anyone besides me who thinks of the card's effect in Duelists of the Roses when thinking about Fairy Meteor Crush?

I feel that Spear Dragon should make an honorable mention, for it was one of the few cards that had piercing damage back then, especially with 1900 atk.
In yugioh legacy of the duelist: link evolution, I made a deck using nightingale and getting that card to a absurd level is pretty hard, which is how its balanced but the most I got it to was 4500 ATK, and 3500 effect damage
I'd have put Jack Jaguar somewhere in the middle, probably between the two Pringles on the list. It's always been one of the key cards in Salamangreat. Link material from the grave that adds in free recycling of link monsters for later reincarnations (or Miragestallio back in the day). Free summon of an 1800 Atk piercing beater is a huge bonus, too.
Wait you can bring out Chaos Ancient Gear Giant with overload fusion since it's a dark machine. But I wish I could cheat it out with cyber Dragon Nova.

No mention to Great Emperor Manju Garzet? It saw a lot of play in Dark Matter Hieratics when Dragon Rulers and Dark Matter were legal in the OCG, was a combo piece that happened to have piercieng damage, but was only played by being a lv 8 monster that could special summon itself easily in the deck
Avenging Knight Parshath...aka one of the boss monsters in my Cubic Counter Fairy deck :)
I'm actually grinding for gems so I can get another Invoked Purgatrio for my Mathmech deck. It's such a useful fusion and has won me plenty of duels. It's just beat out by how great of a wall Cocytus is and Magellanica is just easier to get out, but the Mathmech cards we got are all FIRE and I don't care too much for ranked Duels so it is what I plan to run.

I remember my best duel vs Ancient Gears.
I used Channeler and Pet Dragon to go into Big Eye, then took control of it
I think Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon would've been a better choice to represent the Ancient gear archetype, especially with that spell/trap destruction.
But some great monsters to consider, Buster Blader The Dragon Destroyer Swordsman (very fun to combo with DNA surgery), Dark Calvary (also negates). 9 tailed fox (drops tokens upon death), and Cyber Angel Dakini.
I thunk all good ones in my opinion.
Aromage Bergamot also do piercing and affects other plants not just only him.

One of my favourite uses of SK Starving Venom Fusion Dragon was to copy odd-eyes pendulum dragons effect in grave.
Could you perhaps to a Top 10 Staple link Monsters? So that'd be link monsters that could work in any/most decks well..? I'm sure there's a lot of people who bought legacy of the duelist, that stopped playing the game around synchro or xyz and are now kinda baffled by all the new stuff xD. I stopped before pendulum summoning was a thing, so now i'm kinda lost with all the options

@@morganwithaneevee246 Yes it is but it also has the text of being treated like Umi, which is another field spell, and would count under the same rule of being treated like a field spell even though it already is one hence my inclusion of it in the example (basically saying 1 field spell that can be treated like another is fair game and may make the list easier if the idea was used etc).
@@jetscrush7080 That would more so fall under the category of a card being treated like another card with a different name; Cyber Dragons do this a lot, actually. The example you would actually be looking for, in this case, would be Maiden of the Aqua, whose effect is literally to be Umi without playing a field spell card.

To be honest, i expected the sacred arch-airknight Parshath to be on the list and it clearly deserves to be in a high spot of it : It's a 2800 atk easily summonable beatstick and whose piercing effect allows the player to search ANY counter trap OR Parshath card in the deck...
I hope by the way that the archetype will get more support.
You can summon the chaos ancient gear giant with power bond as well... That makes it a 9k attack all monsters monster. Pls don't forget about that!

There are plenty of Light-Attribute Angel-Type Monsters out there that revolve around Counter Traps, like Voltanis The Adjudicator. So Parshath would be able to slip pretty easily in there.
Suggestion: Top 10 Cover Cards that Appear on Pack Artwork (only from the official sets, no reprint sets)

Chaos Giant in 10 but Parshath and Cyber End in 9 and 8? That's very off... Cyber End isn't played at all and the Parshath Counter Traps is much better used to summon the big MAIN DECK Parshath monster. Meanwhilw, Chaos Giant is one of thw win conditions in AGs, and let's not pretend it's difficult to gather 4 AGs OR summon a Golem.

Usually in those lists card are rates keeping an eye on their legacy. Cyber end dragon was much better in it's prime than Chaos Ancient Gear golem ever was.
BLS is a terrible boss monster by modern standards, but to deny it had more impact on YGO has a whole than 90% of the current bosses would be foolish.
I'm surprised you didn't include D/D/D Beowulf since it allows all other friendly monsters to deal piercing and destroys all spell/traps during your standby

U.A. Dreadnought Dunker is also a good piercing damage card that when your opponent loses life points you can destroy a card on the field

For Gaia Dragon, it's more worth noting that while it was used for its piercing, it was most often actually used just to get an attack in by replacing a monster that otherwise would not have been able to attack. Piercing and having 2600 certainly helps.

Top 10 Card Erratas that made the cards better? Seems complex, but I think it can be done and would be a unique list

I would include Amazoness Empress who shares the piercing damage with all amazoness, It's got good protection to her archetype and it's got a good floating effect. Even though her arquetype is not the best it's effect it is still cool

D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf gives all monsters in its archetype on the field piercing damage. And it's easy to load up 2 6k atk D/D/D Gust High King Alexanders next to him on first turn. I just think dragonbane deserves a spot on this list. Considering he also has a possible 'heavy storm' during your own standby phase

As I play a counter fairies with air knight parshath splashed in I know for a fact how sweet pierce is.
You can do a top 10 yugioh monsters that can change the position of a monster
It might not count, since it’s basically an archetypal equip card, but if I could put Superheavy Samurai Soulpiercer on this list it’d probably slot in around 6/7, as a monster that grants piercing damage and also is a non once per turn archetypal searcher for Superheavy Sam, if it ends up in the GY.
You put avenging knight parsath but you also could have put sacred arch airknight parsath who everytime it does battle damage you can add any counter trap from your deck to your hand which is amazing in counter fairy decks. And can also be brought out with rebirth of parsath.
