    Oh this passage trips me up because it almost seemed like he was requiring the men to do right before he can get right and it’s hard for me to reconcile it with faith alone. Someone please pray for God to help me understand. I don’t want to have this wrong

    Why is it hard for a rich man to enter Heaven if God is sovereign over salvation?

    • @LC-jq7vn
      @LC-jq7vn Před měsícem

      24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God ALL THINGS are possible.”
      Hard for man, there will be more pains, more temptations and eyes to pluck out. Hard for God to get him there with all wisdom and power? Absolutely NOT unless you are willing to call Christ a liar.

      Yes, me too. This was the parable the Lord used to open my eyes to the Gospel. I was teaching a senior ladies adult SS class. Praise God for His mercy and how He looked at us, and loved us and may we never walk away.
      Kept by His grace.

    James 2 : 24
    24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
    Why does the speaker say that we can we saved by grace alone while the Apostle James says different 🤔?

    • @DarlaBaltazar
      @DarlaBaltazar Před 2 lety +1

      Good question. Here’s the AMP translation: “You see that a man (believer) is justified by works and not by faith alone [that is, by acts of obedience a born-again believer reveals his faith].”
      ‭‭James‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭AMP‬‬”
      James speaks of works (“what they do”) in a slightly different context here. He’s talking about how one who is righteous inevitably shows it in his actions, as opposed to people who only say they “believe” but there is no evidence of a transformed heart.
      If there was a formula for this, it would be:
      Faith + Jesus’ work (not ours) = Salvation (which then results in good works because of our gratitude to God)
      This is what the gospel is NOT:
      Our works + Jesus’ work =/= Salvation
      Notice that good works must come as a result of salvation, NOT as a prerequisite for it.
      Good for you to observe that, as it is vital in our understanding of the gospel. I hope this helps!

    • @Boatman607
      @Boatman607 Před 2 lety

      @@DarlaBaltazar Thany you for responding. Thinking about this, what is faith, what I mean is that how do I visualise faith. Are we to follow the way Jesus lived. He did alot of works that were good, healing people etc. Sure an outworking of faith in Jesus is that we love our neighbours.And if we love our neighbours surely we should help our neighbours in their time of need, like the good samaritan.
      Faith in Jesus Christ should filter into every aspect of you life. This will motivate you to act out your faith in your community.

    this seems like a rather tortured exposition. the rich young ruler asked what to do to inherit eternal life, jesus answered, the rich young ruler confirmed he had done so, jesus said in this you have done well. and moving on . . . jesus said, if you would be perfect, do this other thing. apparently inheriting eternal life and being perfect are two different things? a question, not a statement. such a strange teacher, this jesus, is asked a question, loves questioner, but tells him nothing of what is outlined in this video.

  • @williambeaumont1312
    @williambeaumont1312 Před 3 lety +2

    Notice that Jesus didn’t suggest that the young man sell his possessions and donate the money to his ministry, so Jesus could buy some property and build a building as a meeting place for believers, and so establish the Christian Church. .

      Because that wasn’t Jesus mission. And it would’ve been in vain to setup a physical place of worship due to 40 years later the Romans would come and raze Israel.
