I decided to bring her on a little side op to rescue someone from Da Samsei Laman
I ordered her to get in position and start killing, and engaged myself.
after about 5 minutes in which I sniped 3 people and spent the rest of the time dodging mortar shells I receive a message "outpost captured"
girl literally wiped out the entire population of one of the largest Soviet outposts in the game by herself
Now that's some quality badassery.
Two things, companions can die from traps in Skyrim, and Jzargo is probably the best companion in Skyrim

yeah after a while of traveling across the country farming everything and everyone trying to fully upgrade the Base and stock it with S-rank troops I'd just send her to tranquilize an entire base every time on her own, I'd just order her over there using the map and start running over on foot and it would be cleared when I arrived.

***** Playstation isn't the best place to play online, if that's what you mean by "horrible experience". It's more of a single player gaming console, meaning that MP isn't really the highlight, that would go to the Xbox consoles. I would pick one up if I were you, there are some great games coming out, God of War, Spiderman, Horizon: Zero Dawn, RE7, Days Gone, Death Stranding (and since you have the MGS character, you must be interested in this game, considering it's being made by Kojima), Crash Bandicoot Remaster, Detroit: Become Human, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (it's a timed exclusive, but still), and Final Fantasy IIV (7) Remake.

No she is always murdering herself. Like always. Walking in front of the bow you just shot. Even when that bow can one shot a dragon of legendary. Lydia just does whatever she feels like.
I remember accidentally stumbling into a forsworn camp at night when they had 25+ Reachmen and women well above My level; I had an enchanted bow and mage armour as My only protection against axemen,swords men and multiple projectiles that could instantly kill Me.
Running was impossible as it would mean leaving My lovable companion to be murdered, also I would get shot in the back; Lydia was only kept alive by not being shot when knocked down and My healing spells and potions, all of which She had in Her possession.
Still My hasty companion stormed into the centre of the camp lost to sight and sound, and I was left with five very eager enemies ready to tear Me apart, after half an hour or so of slowly painfully shooting them to death, I was alone.
Alas My companion was lost, then Lo a lone women runs out of the dark, so dark was this person I could not identify them, I see a weapon I shoot and I hit true the woman is slain all I can see as she falls into the light is Her face, Lydia's face! It was not My faithful friend but another though.
Finally after much searching I find My friend, all the Forsworn are gone never to be found, but there is My stuck full of arrows injured and brandishing a bloody sword.

+Paragade I disagree with james being useless. Carnage (Jame's skill) is OP as fuck. don't use him much though, since I rarely use humans
having infiltrator Shepard, Tali and Legion all on one team against geth is ridiculous too since you can basically have half of all your enemies fighting for you at all times. Hell, in 3 just having Shepard and Tali is insane.
Quite, the one companion that is great in pretty much every way. She is literally never in your way, excellent at following orders, provides a nice sound track, and can kill off half the Russian army before I find the door.

Yes, yes, more of those companions please. If I have to babysit another companion who seems to have a fetish for getting in the line of enemy fire (and mine) while having the health bar of wet tissuepaper I may actually go insane.
Why Lydia and not Serana? Serana is completely broken and actually fully invulnerable.

yeah, accessibility was a factor i think. Lydia was pick partly due to her being one of the first followers available to you.
Boone from Fallout NV was pretty good too, especially at early levels, he oneshot most of the enemies. But I guess he wears too much clothes to win the best sniper around award

DD from MGSV can actually do prisoner extractions by himself if you can extract the target with the fulton/wormhole when he's equipped with the fulton kit, you just get a bit close to the target (no need to have a line of sight with the prisoner) and tell him to go get it, he walks in, gets the prisoner, gets out, and none of the guards care if a wolf just rescued a prisoner by himself

I remember playing my second character where I actually got Boone, cause I Boone to kill Manny for his hat (Didn't know you get the beret from Boone if you find the right person and I was playing a morally ambiguous character). ED-E would play his battle music, I'd hear like a billion rife shots from behind me, the shots ringing out from Boone's bolt action rifle. And when I fully turned around to see what was happening all that remained were the dead, and Boone swinging his rifle back over his shoulder.
I'm giving quiet the silent treatment after she killed me instead of the enemy during a raid...

TheRupertLitterbin It's actually being tested by a myth buster. It's impossible. Unless if that was added as part of a patch, or someone else shot you, Quiet's bullets seem to simply go right through your character without damaging.

If you made the error of thinking I meant the TV show, I did not mean that but I am aware of that.
Lydia was great if you were a hack and slasher, archer, or mage class; but go the "sneaky type" route and killing her almost becomes less of an accident and more like "stop giving away my location you over zealous #%$^&!!!!!".

On my third run through new vegas I finally managed to solve his girlfriends murder and made him my companion i thought great we can destroy all of our enemies but no as soon as we got back on the highway towards new vegas a squad of ceasars legion came and killed him
This is why you give him good armor. His default armor only has a DT of 4.

Actually enemies can kill Lydia in Skyrim as well. I used to think that she was invincible too until one day I was fighting a dragon and I looked beside me and she was dead from the Dragons Flames.
I accidentally set Lydia on fire then I turned her into a zombie because I felt bad for setting her on fire. After that I lost her so there is now a wild undead Lydia running around in my skyrim. Ops.
Lol I know this is an old comment but this is hilarious. There's something strangely amusing about a 'wild undead Lydia' lurking around Skyrim.

+Tom Williams Productions OH yeah Shadowmare is a fucking BEAST I remember being a level 22 sneaky character that had most his attributes in archery and stealth and I was exploring until all of a sudden I find Krosis where There is ,first of all a dragon witch drained almost all my arrows, but then out of nowhere comes a dragon priest and he was doing incredible damage but Shadowmare being the badass that he is, charges the dragon priest while I sniped him with the rest of my arrows yet the horse gave the final blow!
Level 68 character on Novice difficulty with a fully upgraded (legitimately anyway) Daedric Sword w/ Chaos Damage... 113 hits to kill Shadowmere. AND HE STILL RESPAWNS
Shadowmere has the fastest health regeneration in skyrim

If you are voiced by Nolan North, you're either the protagonist, a fan-favourite villian, a funny side character or a robot companion who lets out some sarcastic quips every once in a while.
Cripes, Lydia looks awesome -- I'm all for a loyal snarky knight who will carry my gear and wreck enemies. Same with a similarly powerful super-mutant. And, being in the middle of a BioShock Infinite LP myself, I can attest to how freaking useful Elizabeth is in those situations. She is good and needs more love.

+Marc Stuart Because no matter where Mjoll goes, Aeryn is right behind her. It's so bad, that when I married Mjoll and she moved in with me, Aeryn basically moved in as well.
The follower mod Inigo even comments on this: "Go away Aeryn, no one likes you."
+Drazarus That's why I go Dark Brotherhood on Aeryn's ass. Can't have him stalking my wife and follower. So I stab him repeatedly resurrect stab again before finally turning to ash.
I play Skyrim and I have seen Lydia be killed by enemies before. Only followers that have a story purpose like Aela or Serana are unkillable. Also Serana should have been the one on the list since she is the most useful follower. She carries your gear, can use magic, is unkillable, can turn you into a vampire if you want to be one, and she can make bloodstained arrows that blot out the sun if you are a vampire.
The player is the only one who can kill followers unless mods are installed that change that.

Nope, I own both the Pc and Xbox editions. Could of been a bug or you might of accidentally hit her while she was on low health.

Yeah, she does things from time to time, but that is only because the game was written that way to make it seem like she is not completely useless throughout the whole thing and to build a stronger bond between the main character and her.

Ahh, Lydia. My first play-through she didn't even make it through the second 'hole' I decided to investigate, which happened to be chock full of Falmer. Sorry, Lydia. On my second play-through, I kinda, maybe, sorta . . . sacrificed her to Boethia. Sorry, again, Lydia. :p She had it coming, in my defense, always asking if I planned on causing any trouble when I walked into my 'own' home! Though at least she never got the chance to embarrass herself, by running away in terror when she saw a dragon, after professing to protect me with her life, unlike a certain Housecarl for my Build-a-Dream Home outside Morthal. "Pot shot" refers to the distance and accuracy of the shots being fired, (in a bad way). Meaning It is more like someone is banging pots and pans together than actually shooting at you.

Ah, Fawkes; one of my favorite BSHBs, or Brick Shit-House Bro's - alongside Liberty Prime, Urdnot Wrex from Mass Effect, Dog from Half-Life 2, Brick from Borderlands 2*, Óengus from Child of Light, and Oleg in Saints Row the Third.
*Doesn't count in Borderlands 1 since he was a playable character - these are NPCs that are enormous and strong, yet turn out to be on YOUR side, to your massive benefit.

Mass effect team mates were always on point. When I play as the sentinal class espically 2 and 3. Love just hanging back moving my squad mates up and supporting them with powers.
The AI in Halo ! Just put one with a rocket launcher in your warthog, and they'll blow all the bad guys up.

I know no ones ever heard of it, but in Locks Quest every time you’re paired with another Archenear is the best, I just hide behind my nice safe walls while your buddy does all the work.
If you install broken steel before getting fawkes, he kills literally. His health increases almost to infinity once you reach level 50, to the point where the experimental mirv launcher barely scratches him

Fawkes was literally unstoppable. When I got him he would beat everything without breaking a sweat. Had to stop using him because it took the fun out of the game

Serana from the Dawnguard DLC I thought was way more helpful than Lydia. She is quite literally unkillable and is super helpful when playing a non mage with her frost and lightning spells.
I can hear that 1950s Carnival themed version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun in the background; While I'm here, Elizabeth is unarguably one of the best platonic pals on this list.

Halo Reach: Noble Team (err... some of them). If you want to complete a mission on Heroic or Legendary without dying then just choose a mission with as many members as possible, such as Winter Contingency, and just sit back behind cover while they deal with everything.
Having that funfair version of Girls Just Wanna playing is my jam... I hope the new Bioshock manages to continue the excellentness of Infinite even with our boy Ken doing his thing.

Paladin Danse in Fallout 4. With his indestructible Power Armour and his Laser Rifle, he's quite literally a walking tank.
Also, the monster medals in the Dragon Quest Heroes games. They're especially useful when you need to protect a certain object or character.

Lydia, a badass? Really?! Dragon flies by, she chucks an arrow at it and barges head-on, only to die after two firebursts... reload, dragon flies by and she's dead... reload, dragon flies by and she's dead... and again... and again... and again...
When it comes to Skyrim companions, the best is Inigo, the Kajit of awesomeness
While you have the option to control them, so long as you properly level up Bastilla's battle meditation and healing in Knights of the Old Republic and Kreia's *everything buff related* in Knights of the Old Republic 2, those are some pretty badass companions. In fact, those were the only two companions in those games who didn't fuck off directly into a swarm of sith jedi and apprentices. Or anything else that could and would K.O. the party without a second thought. Yeah, I'm looking at you Bao-Dur. Ten minutes into being apart of my party and you're already charging the nearest enemy outpost while I'm still trying to think up a proper plan of attack! No wonder I never took you anywhere.
I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, but my Lydia is fully useless. She dies in like 3 hits and constantly wonders off.

+Adam Bomeisl Best to use mods that make Lydia and other followers essential I tend to use mods that allow for multiple followers and increase the amounts of enemies in game. Lydia and the other House carls are very good at melee if equipped properly. I usually use Mjoll, Lydia, Aela, and a few of the other house carls for melee and ranged combat. For magic support I usually have J'zargo and Serana around. If properly equipped that group can decimate most anything even in a massive battle. To fix the wandering off portion of follower issues there are many mods that allow you to teleport your followers to you.
+M'aiqThe Liar Also another reason to get a good follower mod is many of them raise or basically remove the level cap on followers. Non modded Lydia maxes out at level 50. With her main stats being health 671, stamina 214, heavy armor 100, one handed 100, block 100, archery 98, two handed 72. Not sure if NPCs and followers are effected by perks or not. Stat wise Lydia isn't badly built for a melee character.
You just need to equip her to her strengths and don't forget to enchant her armor to boost her Health, stamina and damage buffs for the weapon types you want her to use. properly equipped with enchanted equipment it is possible to get Lydia to over 2000 health easy. While boosting her damage output to the point she can one hit bandit, imperials and storm cloaks. And be able to hold her own against any enemy in the game
The same advice goes for any follower in game. Look up the stats and see what they are good at and what they are not and plan and equip and enchant accordingly.

Lugo and Adams are pretty good, I will agree. The command system is a bit fiddly but in terms of practicality they do come in handy.
Fawkes is made even better by his voice being the same as the arena announcer from Oblivion.
I think in this case, Lydia was chosen because the list seems to be explicitly no-DLC. Look at him scolding Fawkes for the radiation incident. Housecarls have one of the highest in game level cap (once it was fixed) after DB initiates, and J'zargo, bothe of whom require specific questioned to have access to. Add in that Lydia, as the first house aro you can get, was giving a little more personality than others and the sentimental value, and it isn't surprising she is on the list. Granted, her personality is still rather bland.
That's why Jordis the Swordmaiden is my favourite housecarl, she has all of Lydia's lines but with the much more eager voice of Ysolda.
Mercurio is a better non-DLC character than Lydia. I found him to be Skyrim's Boone where half the time you don't get to kill anything because he's already done it... Boone is still better though lol.

Noble Team? having a squad of up to 5 invincible allies is extremely useful. They are probably what got me through most of my "A Monument to All Your Sins" run. probably also why the last level killed me over 100 times.... the last 2 segments have no bullet sponges...

HELL yes lydia! A female gamer myself, I took her on and despite her "sworn to carry your burdens" annoying talk she is TANK and I love her for it! I always went heavy armor stealth archer, and let her tank mobs as I sniped them. The game is easily 10 times harder (the way I play it) without her!

AH yes, Quiet. The biggest stress reliever in MGSV. If you have a bad day, just watch her implode the skulls of Soviets with her Rifle.
Granted, I've put well over a hundred hours into MGSV, and there are some times that she becomes more of an issue then a benefit, but her use is amazing. I was nearly crippled when *story developments* happened later on. Even as I creep toward 100% completion, her use continues to be invaluable.
(I usually just had Quiet painted in blood anyways, until I got the Sniper Wolf costume)
Even putting Quiet Aside, D-Dog from the same game is also a godsend in any mission that requires speed in a densely populated area. Quiet can scout out a location, true, but her scouting usually only covers about 70-80 percent of everyone there and ignores machinery and vehicles that aren't manned. D-Dog, as long as you keep him beside you, lets you stay aware of any all all enemies and weapons/vehicles within 100-120 meters of you, actively finds herbs, and can be a very effective distraction for sneaking up behind someone and interrogating them.
Having these two alone makes it nearly pointless to use D-Horse or the Walker Gear in the game, as the former is just a faster way of crossing the map and the latter is too costly to justify.
I feel really relaxed watching this for some reason :)
