I always love how professional pilots take it in stride when something is wrong or probably wrong. Another day at the office, and ATC as well. Everyone clear and concise with the needed information. Well done!
Well, the alternative, at least when in the air, is usually death.
They train for it. Every simulator requalification will involve an engine out for example.
@@Erplane I highly doubt CZcams is on their mind 🙄 If so, they shouldn't be flying. If CZcams is part of their thought processes in managing an emergency situation, I'd be highly concerned. This is a great moment to reflect on what electronic media has done regarding our interpretation of a potentially life-threatening mechanical issue. Embarrassing 😳
@@16MedicRN I’m thinking the CZcams part was a little tongue-in-cheek. 🙄.
Saw two comments, just starting to listen to this, so the outcome appears is already known. So this comment? Is for Victor, and his channel, this man is ON TOP of all Aviation events- and does an incredible job, as we hear Juan Browne, Dan Gryder, and others say all the time- So I'm just adding my vote, with theirs.
Thanks for doing what you do, @VASAviation.
Agreed!
Thank you very much!!
As it says in this same video. Victor is current!
Agreed! Brilliant!

Check Engine Light...something we all dread
Could be worse, haven't you heard about the dreaded 7-engine approach?
@@chrisschack9716 "Ah, the dreaded 7 engines approach"....
As always. Kudos to the pilots & ATC 🙌🏼
I am too immature for finding the ERBUS waypoint for an Airbus funny😂
Noticed it too. But I was thinking that it could be dangerous rather than funny (because of potential confusion).
For some reason this comment reminded me of......
TIIIIIRON!!!!
@@syntheretique385 I don't think it will be that confusing tho. I mean if you get cleared "direct Erbus", most pilots won't yeet the aircraft into the nearest airbus they see 😂. Jokes aside, the word 'airbus' isn't used that much by ATC or pilots (that I know of) and if it's used, it's probably pretty clear what they mean.
@@markhinton250 • Thanks to you that is now playing over and over in my head😆
@@gomphrena-beautifulflower-8043 , Sorry about that 😆😆😆
Holy crap. Buddy just lost an engine, and sounds as bored as a high schooler in an hour long math lecture
he did not loose an engine both engines running as you can hear in the audio
I may be soft, but it always brings a tear to my eye, happy tear, when you see at the end when VASAviation says the landed safely. I know pilots train in all sorts of scenarios, but things can change rapidly and its always a great thing to make it to ANY runway, and to walk away from the landing.
Well said.
Dang. These have so few hours on them. Brand new birds
Thank you for adding the date!
Well done, per usual! Just another day at the office. Amazing, just brilliantly amazing jobs!
I like how u highlight stuff on the screen! Thx!
VASAviation working overtime this weekend-nicely done indeed!
Impressive! Thanks for this!
Minor quibble about the title--CYYZ is "Toronto Pearson International" or "Lester B. Pearson International", not just "Toronto International". (Locals and regular travellers will tend to abbreviate it to "Toronto Pearson" or just "Pearson".)
While Pearson is the largest and busiest airport in the Toronto area, it's not the only one. CYTZ (Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) was one of the top-ten busiest airports in Canada - at least, pre-pandemic - and is by far the busiest international airport actually located within the borders of the City of Toronto itself.
Love the channel!
Some travellers probably call it Hell. 😁
Your title says “engine failure” and then the descriptions states they “had to shut down one engine” but they clearly said they have both engines running with just a warning when questioned by ATC.
These videos are so well made even a slow guy like me somehow gets them!
Love to see a video about a plane at my home airport would love to see more CYYZ videos please
There are tons on the channel
Canadian plane too!
Perhaps it's best if you don't see kore CYYZ videos as that means there's been an emergency of some sort. 😀
How does one learn to be an air traffic controller? I find it fascinating how they can handle the turns the altitudes and controls for so many planes and stay so calm even with an emergency. Organized kayos…..
You apply for and get the job and then they teach you how to do it
@@Jmjbs 4 Years of extensive Training... At least, at AMS.
To feed the algorythm gods, I love how much of a non-issue these professionals made this. I'm old enough to remember not being able to go very long between massive fatal incidents.
Know whats crazy?
I saw this exact plane on that exact same day fly 100 feet above me on final approach
Curious...any chance it was obvious if one of the engines was shut down or not? Video title and description says one engine was completely shut down, but the ATC chatter just mentions an "engine warning" and that both engines were still running. Curious to know which case is accurate.
@@schaea saw it head on and I didnt notice anything at all, I checked the date and aircraft registration and only found out later, wouldn't have ever know had it happened had it not been for this video
Yesterday There was a close call between in Tenerife Norte airport between Iberia and air Europa. Can you check on this ?
A lot of weird situations are happening in Toronto Emirates a380 disputes with the tower and now this
I didn't see/hear anywhere in this that they had shut down an engine. When they initially checked in with approach at the beginning of the video they said they still had both engines but had an "engine warning indication."
clickbait headline not the first
The description also said they had to “shut down” the engine, which also wasn’t the case. Poor clickbait, what a shame :/
Good luck
How do you read these maps shown in the vid ?
It’s Pearson International, or, if you prefer, Toronto Pearson.
Why would you stop on runway for engine inspection? Can't you do that after you leave the runway, on a taxiway for instance?
nice
Do they transmit the first distress calls on another channel or why is that not included?
Likely the case that it was transmitted to Center when they were still in that airspace, and then the audio picks up when they get to tower frequencies.
Other frequencies I don't have access to
Canadians don’t say fuel and souls on board, just fuel, then any hazardous cargo 🤓
"I check that" ... grrr, that annoys me.
Engine problem on a A220?! No way! (Irony mode ON)
engine problem can happen on ANY aircraft shock horror
@@flightsimmer9809 ohh, really?!?!?!!?
Didn’t he clear him for 23 then without any intros cleared him for 24R?
Diagram looked like they landed 24L not 24R…?
Toronto runway numbering is weird.
There's 3 paralell runways, 24 R/L are very close to each other, side by side. The third runway is on the far north end of the field.
It would have been confusing to name a runway on the far south end of the field 24C, so what they did was make 24R/L on the south end of the field, and name the north runway 23 even though all 3 runways have the same magnetic heading.
@@PilotPlater thanks for the explanation!
So they have a 23 AND a 24 runway? Ook..
Ok is it just me or has air Canada had an increase in incidents over the last couple years. I’ve generally always flown either them or British airways between London and Toronto.
Cleared for 24R but didnt they land 24L?
24L and 24R at YYZ are very close togother. The on on the north side which i think you are reffering to is 25
@@DubstepGaming766 thank you!
Which side the apron is? I guess to reduce the way to an apron and parking stand without crossing another active RW in case the tug (or other services) is needed you know
There is no runway 25 in yyz, the west oriented runways are 24L / 24R and 23, usually depart on 23 and 24r and land on 24L
The runway on the NW side is 23 ... I'm wondering why they didn't land 24L for anybody, that's the arrivals runway of that pair. Also, apron is between the 24s and 23
I usually just read the comments so I can find out how the pilots and ATC did everything wrong and how the armchair experts at home would have done things the “correct way”…..I’m disappointed today, about the only “complaint” is some guy whining about a “clickbait” title.
i do the exact same thing as you. i am amazed how people over the internet who took CZcams air flight training know exactly what went wrong and what THEY would have done... 🙄
@@marctronixx I think you are misunderstanding, we are all trying to engage our brains and understand the situation to increase our knowledge. Essentially they are asking to be corrected and confirmed on their knowledge. Many pilots and ATC come here to see what happens in emergency situations to further their knowledge and do the best job possible should the time come. I think people should be as critical as possible here. Even when it is just the public commenting something stupid, so many think that and do not comment, so a healthy reply helps more people understand how things work. It is better for everyone.
Is this another Pratt and Whitney going bust?

That's how you inch closer to the name A220 Max.
In what way?
L
I think you mean the C series not the A220
No, I meant A220
one & the same, the C Series was rebranded to the A220 once Airbus acquired 50.01% of the shares of the project in July 2018.
