The skating penguin is not very muscular. It's like "come try me, I'm weak" and then destroys the opponent.
The 'triangle penguin' to me is like a symbol of Mario Lemioux.

well no shit. The ducks were a fake team from a disney film & its success warranted the NHL giving Disney a franchise, which they named the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. They kept ducks when disney left the franchise.

As a graphic designer I've always liked Philadelphia Flyers logo. Surprisingly in Toronto they cannot draw anything that even remotely looks like a maple leaf.

I think it’s interesting to see the Pens had a similar set of logos to the baltimore Orioles - cartoon birds, then a shift to a more realistic looking bird, then a shift back to a slightly altered cartoon bird for old times sake.

The Hartford Whalers is the greatest sports logo of all time. Followed by the Chicago Bulls, 80s Milwaukee Brewers, 80s Boston Celtics, then Dallas Cowboys. Just my opinion. I love logos!!!

Kind of amazing how many logos look bad from far away at the start of their rebrands. Like the new ducks logo is very hard to read until they basically dropped all the text and just get the D in the shape of the duck foot. Phoenix had the text in their logo and realized pretty fast that just dropping the text made it look better from far away. A lot of teams dropped unnecessary text with time. Glad they all eventually simplified the detail and shapes and removed the text and redundancies - they mostly look better in the end.

I dont know if it's just because I was a kid in the 90's, but every logo from the 90's look the best to me. After 2000 they got to modern or they revert back to retro logos that weren't better than the 90s version

The Montréal Canadians is like a puzzle that took 100 years to be complete.
It's amazing how many of these designs could be summed up by the graphic designer with either:
"I changed the contrast"
Or
"I added/subtracted a stroke"
Also, at one point, in the Panther’s logo the car was holding half a broken hockey sticker in either paw.
It’s not the official logo, but I love the Canes logo that’s the hockey stick with the hurricane flags. Just good design :D

HeyMitch15 the ducks changed their logo because goalies stopped wearing those types of masks, and the ducks started becoming a real team, so they took out their cartoonish logo.

I disagree about the least changes. It goes to the flyers. Vegas never had a change. Let's see the knights hang around for 50 years to only having 1 logo.

You should add the original Ottawa Senators, since they were essential to early NHL history.
They folded, and the original franchise bears no direct influence to the NHL, as the team moved to St. Louis and folded the season after. The team we know as the Senators today was an expansion team following the 1991-92 season.
