NFL teams have all gone through some sort of rebranding, whether it's something as minimal as the Dallas Cowboys putting a blue outline on their now iconic star logo, or the Los Angeles Rams cycling through nine different logos to find the right look for their thrice-moved franchise. Some NFL logos have outlived their time through retro merchandise and, in some cases, fans clamoring for teams to bring back certain logos, like the Philadelphia Eagles' kelly green eagle that the team used as its primary logo from 1948-1968. Other teams just stick with the same logo and only slightly change the coloring every few years, like the Cleveland Browns. Whatever the reason, an NFL team's logo is just as important as the product on the field, because as it turns out fans care a lot about what their favorite team is wearing on their helmets. Just ask the San Francisco 49ers who quickly went back to their current logo six days after debuting a new one in 1991. Fans nearly revolted and the 49ers course corrected back to the logo they have today.

@@primateproductions126 Pizzazz nowadays just screams bland modernism. Look how sleek and clean the Buccaneers logo is (before their new redesign this coming season) I missed that rugged and torn look that the skull and flag had. The dolphins logo is the same way imo it's flat with no dimensions.

I AGREE!! I grew up a Packers fan but I always loved Miami. Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris were awesome RB's. I got a Dolphins helmet from the JC Penny Christmas catalog one year for a present. It had a defect on the top but I loved it. Classic design. Wish it would come back.

they can easily use a "dawg pound" logo of a dog imposed on the helmet where it is just a subtle difference for the outline of the dog, making it orange on orange, so from afar it looks all solid but on closeups you can make out the dog in the helmet

The Jets also have a new logo. The Jets franchise started in 1958 when they were the Titans of New York. Then became the Jets in 63 and won the SB in 69
They also forgot that the Kansas City Chiefs were originally the Dallas Texans.

Wing Stop 49ers are interesting because both the original and new logos look fantastic I can’t say which is better. I’d probably prefer the new one because when I was really little whenever they would play there was something about the logo that made me have a connection to it. Hard to explain

I can remember the day I discovered Pat was gone. We were at the pizza place and they had a string of flags hanging from the wall for the upcoming 1993 season and I saw the Patriots new logo and didn't know who they were so I went through all the teams in my head to see who was missing. They really did blow it getting rid of Pat.

It’s cool seeing the logos from 10 years ago, not knowing they changed, and realizing they feel more natural and familiar because they’re the ones you saw countless times growing up. It’s like some kind of deja vu. Especially with the buccaneers logo. It didn’t change much between the 2nd and 3rd, but the 2nd is the one I still think of and picture in my head. If that makes sense

You forgot to do all of the Chiefs logos. The Chiefs started in 1960 as the Dallas Texans as one of the original 8 AFL teams
And the NY Jets started and the Titans. That logo was left out.

Fun fact: The Ravens initial logo was drawn by a security guard who faxed it to the team when they moved and announced their team name. The Ravens began using it without permission and the artist filed a copyright lawsuit and won. He didn't want much money, was really just looking for some recognition, but the Ravens said fuck you and just changed the design after they lost the lawsuit. The artist still hasn't been compensated.

They got sued because they had a logo submission contest and the Flying B logo was almost identical to one someone submitted and never acknowledged the artist. That is why they had to change it.

Most of the original vintage logos have more character. Sadly, most of these teams don't merchandise them for their t-shirts, caps, jackets and other clothing.

The Texans used to be the Dallas Texans and had a logo that had a picture of Texas with a star where Dallas is.
I was going to mention that. They left Dallas and became the KC Chiefs. A few years back the Chiefs played in the old Texans uniforms with the name Texans in their in zone. I’m glad someone else caught that.
Actually, the Colts were the 1st Dallas Texans in 1954. They went 1-11 & disappeared after that season and became the Colts later on.
Before they were the dallas texans, they were the boston yanks ('44, '46-'48. In '45 they were just the yanks). In '49-'51 they were the new york bulldogs and then the new york yanks. During the second half of the only season for the first dallas texans, they played at hersey, pa., and akron, oh.
The Kansas City Chiefs started out as the Dallas Texans, which their logo was the state of Texas with the star the locates the city of Dallas.
