    Are you surprised Nigeria has a point from two matches at the Women's World Cup?

    • @nsisongamama4760
      @nsisongamama4760 Před 9 lety +5

      FIFATV Not surprised at all because it is typical of Nigeria to break the hearts of fans at this level of competition. We are used to it by now. Even debutants are performing better than this team that is one of only seven teams to have qualified for all the editions of FWWC. Sad....

    • @supremolad
      @supremolad Před 9 lety +3

      Nsisong Amama Come on, at least have some perspective. The Nigerian Falcons are often in the toughest group or one of the toughest groups at the world cup. This year, they are in the 'Group of Death'.. again! USA, ranked 2nd in the world, Sweden, ranked 5th and Australia, ranked 10th. Nigeria, not even in the top 30 rank and did well to draw 3-3 with Sweden, one of the top female teams.
      If Nigeria were in an easier group like Cameroun's, they will also be looking good. I'm sure Nigeria would have at least 4pts if they were in Cameroun's group or some of the other easier groups for other debutants.

    • @chiemekanwaogwugwu9995
      @chiemekanwaogwugwu9995 Před 5 lety +2

      The problem, as usual, was poor preparations and a tactically inept coach. Edwin Okon stubbornly refused to do his homework and study his opponents. When we played against Sweden (the 3-3 thriller), both the American and the Australian coaches were watching that game. But when Edwin Okon was asked how he would approach the Australia match, he said he wasn't interested in knowing about the Matildas (the Australian female team's nickname). Hence the result of this game. We had a good team, but a poor coach and poor preparations for that World Cup.
      I'm happy that we got Thomas Dennarby to coach the Falcons now, but without adequate preparations and a better attitude towards the female teams, Nigeria will keep falling short at the world stage. Since 1994, the Algarve Cup has been played in Portugal and many hitherto mediocre female teams have benefitted and improved tremendously from taking part in the tournament. The Australians are a good example. So are the French. Yet Nigeria has NEVER participated in it at all! Is it any surprise that the Falcons lost scandalously to France 8-0 earlier this year? Back in 2003 and 2004, Perpetua Nkwocha inspired the Falcons to beat Arsenal Ladies and the England women 5-1 and 3-0 respectively in friendly matches. But today England women are ranked 3rd in the world behind the US and Germany, and I shudder to think what will happen if the Falcons faced them now. It is NFF's neglect of the female teams that is killing the Falcons, and not because the girls are not good enough. They are, and they just need the same motivation given to the Super Eagles, and you will see them perform wonders.

    Australia has a very underrated team. Sam Kerr, whom I have a crush on, is such a dynamic forward. Lisa De Vanna is a one-man wrecking crew and one of the best footballers in the world. Lydia Williams is the best GK in the world, not Hope Solo. Hopefully, they have a better finish the next World Cup.

    Just watching these highlights makes me sad for Nigeria because they did play really well in 2015 but got placed in the hardest group. I’m sad because they also got a really tough group for France 2019 and may not advance AGAIN even though they are clearly capable of making the round of 16. We will see though, anything can happen in that group.

      Isn't it obvious that they love putting Nigeria up against tough countries. Used to be mad about that until we eventually won against this same country and then I realized that they were putting us up against worthy opponents in a bid to eliminate us from the tournament. Eleven minutes added time to a group stage match just to let the Australians win. Lol it's fun showing them class in front of their own fans and on their pitch.

      There's levels to this thing. They want to let you know that these are the people they want to favour. Why do you thinking they're yet to release the 3-2 game highlights? See the irrelevant fouls called against us and the injury time they gave for a clear win match. They just wanted to close the margin or draw. The 90 minutes match was 3-1

    There is no way Nigeria were favourites for this game. Australia is above them in the rankings and played with more discipline than Nigeria. Nigeria have raw talent, but they don't play against quality opposition in africa (winning 9 out of 11 of the womens African cup), whereas australia has to deal with teams like japan, who won the cup last time. Nigeria still have good players but they need to be a better team. And like someone else said, their coach needs to learn about opposition teams to help them win games.
