I want to add a 4 inch lift on my 2 inch chevy trail boss. I'm currently looking at RC and BDS. What sort of cutting is required to install those kits? On RC website it says no diff trimming required.

Probably but its fine, youre more than likely gonna wanna go with a bigger lift kit eventually because i started with a 6.5 too and literally everyone told me i was going to eventually wanna go bigger and i was like hell naw, but then, i got the urge and eventually went to the 10 inch and up gang and never looked back🤣

If someone does it right, is there any down side to cutting up the truck. Strenght, durability, rigidity?

Not usually, most of the thing you cut out are mostly things in the way of the parts lowering. But definitely wanna get a quality lift if it requires dif/torsion drops. Those usually are built descent for the most part so they should be fine. Oh and rough riding on a lift should feel stock until you pass the 4" size then it gets a little different. And the tire size of course. Hope that helps!
