Thanks man. This helped me out a lot. Going through the wheel well makes so much more sense then monkeying with anything up top. Had the whole job done in less then 10 min.
Thanks for posting. I never would have figured it out on my own. I got it changed, but it took me the better part of 30 minutes and several contusions to the wrist to do it. Whoever the brilliant engineer was that came up with this needs to be taken out back and shot. Then shot again. One should not need to possess the flexibility of a contortionist to change a freaking headlamp. It took me 45 minutes and several shots of tequila to finally calm down afterward. A pox on Ford and it's engineers.

Really good video, I'm glad I came across it ,I have the front right turn signal bulb out on my 06 fusion that I'm about to go change and didn't know I could access it through the wheel well area like that
This is so helpful it was quick but a pain in the rear putting the new one in. And the car keeps telling you every 20 minets to chech the lamp until its fixed
@7:42 - " disengage top of flexible washer bottle filler neck from snap strap attachment " ( or just remove the bolt ) and see if you can get to the high-beam bulb . You can easily get a pair of LED bulbs ( 3x brighter @ 6000k color temperature and expected to last longer ) for ~$15 shipped on Aliexpress .
new vehicles have just gotten ridiculous. I have to do this exact thing, and of course, to the passenger side bulb. it's just stupid. they basically design the stuff so the average person has to take their vehicle to the shop for even the most basic task. I remember a friend had an eagle talon, and the engine had to be partially pulled to change the sparkplugs.
I agree fully. The third gen Fusion has to have the entire bumper cover off and the headlight assembly out to change a bulb. Also, my Fusion has to have the entire intake taken off to change the back three plugs.
And here i am, back again, changing this same bulb...again. driver's side is still the original bulb. This is now the second time changing the passenger side. And it ain't any easier the second time.
the driver side you can not get to it from that panel i tried i had to remove the air cleaner box to get to that low beam but the passenger side you can get at it using that panel in the wheel well better hope you have skinny hands lol

My friend Althea was changing the bulb on ours and she said the same exact thing about whoever designed it haha
Just did it with my dad, it took like 45 minutes and most of that was trying to figure out how to get in from above before I found this video

Tip- remove the plug from bulb before pulling bulb out of assembly. Should be common sense.
