  • The Weather has been worse in the UK than tis winter, and it still could be but its not been disruptive at times for crucial runs, and today is no exception. Still we are getting it done - sorry for the moaning in advance !! A planned 40k today with a substantial effort at Marathon Pace, lets see how we do.

    That’s a sort of long run that would be at the near end of my peak weeks! 😮 you must be in decent shape coming into this! Big result incoming mate

      Thanks again Will 😁 I hope you are predicting the future there. Lets see. I came into the block with a weak hip and off the back of covid, and maybe too longer break from the last one, but I feel good now and almost back to my best. Last block 6 x 40k (part MGP workouts) in 7 weeks, in this one i'm spreading that over 13 weeks, who knows if my crazy training ideas will work 🤣 Good luck with your training and hope to see you in Manchester again.

    Matt, well done given the wind and you put some hard-earned miles (or kilometers) in the bank. When the weather is brutal, it's important to focus on the effort and not be concerned about pace, heart rate, etc.

      Thanks again, come the end of the run I was much more satisfied. Felt like it was going to be a disaster at the start, but not. And if we stick in there it can come good 😊😊

    Good stuff Matt. Try living in Scotland. Doubt you’ll find the conditions much better. 😂

      Haha 😅 Kenny, those folk in the south of the UK have it better I think. When you do your London marathon I'm sure they'll be none to little wind 😄

      @@RunThePlanet conditions last year in London were perfect. Just hope that doesn’t mean it will change this year.

    I never did more than 32k as a training run - I would be afraid of long recovery period after such long run. How do you recover after such huge effort?

    • @RunThePlanet
      @RunThePlanet  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks Leszek, in reality it's not too bad as the few km at the start and end are usually very easy warmup/cooldown. I built it up to the distance too through the last few training blocks. Now I'd say I'm almost used to it. Last time I ran 6x40k long runs over 7 weeks, this time I'm spreading it over the whole block so should be easier for recovery. So far I'm good but there's time for me to fail yet 😂

      @@RunThePlanet I would never recover so quickly :) did I understood correctly that you ran 800s on the very next day?? I have to rest at least one full day to do next "accent". Like on Sunday I did 26km with progressive pace (finished at 4:35/km) and today I did 10x800m on track. it was OK, but I think I woulnd't be able to do it yesterday... and for me 800s were 3:12 each (4:00/km pace). And yes, we also have strong wind now in Poland, so it was not very easy :)
