I've just put 13-72s on my ibanez rc320 with a bigsby and it works just fine. Needed to modify the nut slightly but I'm so pleased with it! Great tone in this video btw! 👍

I have a couple of my Epiphone Les Pauls on baritone tunings. One in A standard with a custom set of 11-52, 3rd wound; and another in G# standard, with 12-54, also 3rd wound. No intonation issues whatsoever. Since I also prefer using light touch, it works for me. You can also buy ernie ball mammoth slinky or d'addario baritone strings and slap them for regular tension.
Especially with slide, you can just put a thin spacer, - doesn't take much, - under the nut, and that will help leverage the amount you have to raise the bridge.It's actually a slide players " trick".Because you're not playing a lot of full chords dropped to C or B, it doesn't matter much. Long have wished guitarists got hip to ideas a bit more away from the box; when I was forming bands, I stayed with guitar, - instead of playing bass, which I prefer, - because no one was doing what I liked.QOTSA and Soundgarden made down tuning more popular, but still, - it's an E Standard world.
Hi Cass , I owned a Eastwood side jack which I really enjoyed but yeah the scale length felt alien , this one is a bit of a wrestle to play action wise but still comfortable 😊⭕️
My tele clone I have....as with any guitar I have I string with heavy bottom/light top string sets or what might be a medium gauge set with 52 or 54 or a 56 Low E......for the TONE and richness......as long as its balanced and not boomy. I tune to 440 standard and with the guitar strings like bridge cables in thickness....it doesn't lend to more than a half step bend unless you build up strength.......but you can compensate for that playing anyway. Now if you tune down a half step or more then the strings get more loose and easier to play since the tension is less. WHEN you are on a Strat type guitar with the whammy......you have the spring tension to adjust per the string gauge and where you want the bridge action for the whammy.....I personally set for a 50/50 rest for the up and down...so its a floater for a bridge setting and thus you play more off the springs....which means the action is alot more forgiving with the heavy gauges.....BUT because you are on the springs and they stretch as you bend the strings....you get forced to bend further than you would normally......which you get used to and its about your ears anyway. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BUT with the heavy gauges and the bottom end...its way more fuller and appropriate, similar to acoustic in a way. BUT there is also another trick to it, because of the nature of how pickups work to create a signal electronically. So one of the issues is the magnetic pull on the strings which acts as a braking situation to stop the string vibrations.....a dampener. SO I set my pickup down in way more than the typical text book settings you find on the net as for setting pickup heights. My pickups are about flat and level with the scratch guard (the tops of the PU's) so this gives a lower output signal to drive the pre-amp....the lighter signal gives a much better response as a source generator where its not clouding the signal or string vibration with the magnetics involved.....so you get a more natural decay of the string vibration like an acoustic guitar....so its a longer decay which technically is sustain.......so you play off the decay. IF you need to drive the amp harder with more signal.....you insert a foot pedal as a signal booster device...whether you dial it in to overdriven response or a distortion response.....or FUZZ hahaha, so its a purity of signal as a source and you treat it down stream. Combine that with a nice lush clean and responsive reverb.....its sonic magic.......and you control it with your guitars volume pot and your fingers on the strings and your picking dynamics.....and where you attack the strings......if you play near the bridge saddles for that crisp thing or further up by the neck or within the middle sweet spot......its about manipulation and mastering the instrument. Alot of players just play in one spot and strum or rake away without dynamics....approaching the guitar as only for chords across the board rather than a mixture of that and single notes on strings. 432Hz is called the healing frequency......contrary to 440Hz.....so its sounds slightly different.....then playing in 432 and tuning down has its thing too......its all fun to explore.....if you have a good ear...... AND ......Richie you have a good ear hahaha. Listen for the resonances of the electronics...whether it be the amp and speakers....or the foot pedals.....and how they interact when you play outside of normal parameters. I just set up a strat I had as an extra in my collection.....I was going to sell off....but I broke a string on another and just happened to grab this guitar out....I think its got maybe a 40 or a 42 low E VS my tele with the bigger Low E..... but the heavier Low E is TONE. Rick Beato recently did a presentation on his CZcams channel trying to deny this situation.....saying string gauge doesn't matter......he is just SOOOO WRONG Another great presentation Richie.....
I see you're still using that Light-Sound-Geometry COB clone. Would love to hear about how it sounds compared to the other COB type pedals you've tried! I have one and like the sounds but have never tried another COB style pedal. I was thinking about upgrading it some day but I don't know if it's worth spending a lot of money on a reissue or a more high-profile builder.
If a seven string can be standard scale, then there's no reason you can't pull this off. However, and I know I'll catch flack for this, but, the gist of your video is "this works perfectly with no problems, but now my action is ridiculously high and my saddles are all floored out." I think you might need to lower the action and straighten out the bow in the neck, then you should be able to set the intonation properly. Anyway, sorry if that comes off sour. It's a great video. Great idea however it sounds to me a little bit out of tune.. thinking of doing the same to my Harley Benton te52 also maybe moving the bridge to achieve 27 inch scale.
All in all this is not a viable approach at all. This string action is unbarable at above the 9-12th fret and fretted notes will go sharp very easily doing it like this. Also it didn't sound that great to begin with.
Man that thing is funky 🤮 how can you let all that, nasty crap build up all over it? It's all over the bridge and around the pickup. It appears to be all around the frets. Why? If that's gunk on the frets, that's nasty. Nothing but skin, oils, dirt, and poop. Literal crap. Smdh.

what string set did you use?
I think it is the same one that Ariel Posen uses 16 to 64 with a plain G string, string joy makes a set of those things
